GZA - Firehouse Lyrics
[Ka]
My life rest in a .45, aim for head, chest fortified
Sons look for revenge, out of stress, daughters cry
Got to do it here, can't afford to try
Thought the gutter ended in the 'Ville, then I saw the 'Stuy
Slow and steady win the race, step aside, let the tortoise by
It's the hundred man street value hundred grand
Instinct, nothing planned, been through shit you couldn't understand
Caine, hec, and the 'juan. I'm repping the lifeless
Weapon of Christ. Is the blunt out? I'm steppin' in
Checkin' for secondary devices, live in the real world
Fuck, get love from a real girl, raised my sister
Amongst Islam and the crime, now she a ill pearl
Never seen nothing like me, I'm for those who get it on nightly
You need a boost of strength, put it on, recite me
Feeling the waves, killa praise, applaud my folks
From the court most raw, absorb the quotes
For sure I'm the cure, and this more of the dose
Yeah, I'm from the bottom but I look forward to gross
[Hook: GZA (Ka)]
In the gutter, some ride, some chill (some chill)
I'm from the gutter, some 'Stuy, some 'Ville (some 'Ville)
Know many brothers, some cry, some build
Word to the mother, some lie, some steal (steal)
Some get popped, some die, some heal (some heal)
Some get knocked, some hide and some real
(Some even bust shots, some live, some kill)
(But that's gutter where Ka and them chill)
[Ka]
Slim nigga with the fat pound, back down
Most brolic dude, try to move, hit him in the face
Never again taste solid food. Same nigga
If I'm in solitude, or with the wildest crew
Bulletproof down my coats like Ghost's wallets, too
I run wit a crook or two, look who escaped out Brooklyn Zoo
Fuck that queen, I show you what a knight, and a rook'll do
New York City Bronson, heat up quicker than Vinnie Johnson
A block got Bloods now, it's like a mini Compton
To have honey smiling, need money piling
Bundles, bundles, bundles, a hundred thousand
That's why with my gun I'm browsing
On the hottest strip to see who I gotta hit to start running housing
I listen to my id, respect my ego
If I need council, bounce through, check my people
The first on Earth with the same thirst I accept is equal
Never move with crews, you lose if they steps beneath you
I rep it lethal and beef might elect to mesquite you
From where beef greet you. Do as much as dirt as us
But they preach lethal
The block is crashed, the blast from the heat teach you
Get one lesson, fail, oh well, the streets keep you
Pat his jeans, one magazine, She sleep you
[Hook]
[Ka]
I embody, every nigga who carried a shotty
Forced to grow up quick, never sat on the potty
Went from crawl to run, we want all or none
Being fatherless bothered us, everybody who called him son
Block scholastic, sunny chips from the rock jurassic
For heavy glory, mark territory fore I rot in casket
Thought our young committee was gon' run the city
One fear is being unprepared, so I brung the smitty
If you dare come and get me, I'm from royalty
I represent myself, don't need no lawyer fee
People call on me, cuz I'm ready when it's urgent
Too much grace to tremble, hand steady as a surgeon

How is roc so good on the beats too. I just wish he went on this
Damn
Well Put
Shouts to DEBBIE TAYLOR also!
The saddest thing about this track is that they never made a video for it so it never blew up. This is one of the dopest GZA tracks of all time in my opinion.
Being fatherless bothered us so everybody we called em son
KA needs a fucking MOVIE !!!!!! It still bugs me out this King is a NYFD captain by day and LYRICAL god by night.

Ka is just out of this world...he is black excellence!!...this brings tears to my eyes...simply amazing
this is food for men like we.
nah he aint black excellence. he's just excellence period. a modern day poet telling stories and philosophies through a musical artform.
@MISTRY why u hate when black people claim there people ? ka is black excellence.
"But that's the gutter where condom chill"
XD
Condom is "Ka and them"
Real Gutter Hip-hop!!! Classic track!
Rise up Brownsville!
Was there ever an uncensored version of this? I noticed some cuts during Ka's verses
No...this was the era when Gza didn't use much if any profanity in his albums..so Ka's profanity was edited
This is a roc Mariano beat
He would murder it
Word?? He produced it?
@Jamal J yup. It's crazy to me how good he is on the beats as well as the mic
@Bles all he did was loop a sample and throw a snare on it, probably took him 8 minutes to make this beat
ka is King
I listen to my ear, respect my ego
If I need council, bounce through, check my people
This is the perfect combination of grimy and polished lyricism
Rising Phoenix facts

WHERE BROOKLYN AT!
My favorite joint off this album. Talented
brownsville brooklyn ny world .
ka in developmental stages, killed it. check out his new shit!
much more literal wordplay back here, still sharp as a scapel though, but his newest shit has lyricism on a new level, profound wordplay in nearly every line.
lol yeah he was making his voice sound gritty too. now he smooth with it..
YES"SURRRRRR!!
I remember thinking this was a standout track when this album dropped 8 years ago.
Back then I was otherwise unfamiliar with Ka (who I now consider one of the best to do it).
Every album he's dropped from Grief Pedigree onward has been dope.
He just dropped a new LP yesterday called Honor Killed The Samurai - don't sleep!
Update... I revisited Iron Works and it is actually a really good album in its own right, just feel like it's not on the level of the releases that followed it. Ka was still doper than most emcees even back then though.
Man, Iron Works is regal! Them songs grow on you. The 1st year I heard it, it was like 3 songs I didn't care for it on....now years, later I like every single song on there, & I cant think of 1 Sunday I truly have not played "Sunday to Sunday". I workout to "Get Em", "Iron Works", & "Patience" every single week.
Check out Hermit & The Recluse

Raised my sister amongst Islam and the crime
....I listen to my id, respect my ego; if I need counsel, bounce through; respect my people....
LOL brothers are talking about Ka sounding like Jadakiss need to learn about history! If anything, Jadakiss sounds like Ka! Ka rose to prominence with the legendary group Natural Elements. The LOX cannot even come close to the great shit they have done. I'm not hating on Jadakiss, but that dude Ka rose to prominence earlier and he is a way better lyricist than Jadakiss, therefore, if anything, Jadakiss sounds like Ka.
+AjaxNoord KA and Nine sound ,similar either way its still a distinctive sound pretty much polar opposite to GZA
I'm the biggest LOX fan there is, but Jada cannot touch KA with the lyricism.. few can.
AjaxNoord FACTS.
As much as I love Natural Elements (and I fucked with Ka's group Nightbreed as well), I doubt Jada was bumping their demos and taking down notes. Being real, Ka didn't "rose to prominence" with NE, matter fact he left the group before NE really started to gain momentum.
Nightbreed album is still shelved too, RIP Kev
KA is THE SHIT
KA is raw
ka Is Amazing I have all 3 of his albums theyre amazing
ka is ill as fuck.glad gza let him do his 1-2 on this joint..peace gods and earth
KA is So good
Rocs beat is tight
mos def cee dee
Word to the mother some lie some steal...
i cant even listen to this shit its so fucking good
Imagine GZA, Ka Roc Marc and Killah Priest as a group
oskamadison see now that's dope. Wish I had dumb money, we would make that happen asap
Sounds like Jadakiss but he's nice.
Merchantsmith Images I don't think so that what I see why you would say that because of how raspy his voice is
Ka came out in 93, Jadakiss came out in 94
I feel like GZA wanted to shine a light on Ka through this song. Well, it worked.
dcanhiphop facts
Word, felt like he did the same thing he did with Killah Priests B.I.B.L.E.
GZA the Genius: his name says it all. Peace to him and peace to Ka for this dope track!!!
Word #CertifiedDope P.E.A.C.E
Gotta play it again! That's that clasSICK materIaLL! DOPE! Peace!
Ka is the future. Wu tang is forever!
Best song on the album.
