man, punk isnt supposed to mean something. its not supposed to be about anything other than some musicians writing music, and not giving a fuck. if its catchy, who cares. if it makes a political statement or not, so what? you all got the wrong impression of punk. it's bottled rebellion. its doing what you want, regardless of its cool or not.

And when you take music like this as seriously as you do you miss out of the values it provides lighten up.

That is because your talking about a bunch of ignorant teenagers. Where I live the 'punks' (who are also the metalheads) are at an average of mid 20's to 30's and occasionally quite a bit older. Most of us take showers, we listen to more then punk and metal, and we don't exactly look like those stupid punk kids either (minus the patches and torn clothing). Quit being a judgmental prick and let people do as they please.

If you think that punk has a meaning then you are mistaken!! The second you give it a meaning you have gone too far and you are over-thinking it. Punk had meaning back in the late 70's and early 80's when it was still a movement and not a lifestyle. Go listen to some crass If you need to know more. And as for those pop punk bands you mentioned they are hardly pop punk, they are just the watered down mainstream equivalent of bands like The Adoloscents, Premadonnasaurs, The Queers, and many more.

Punks are a bunch of terrorists if you ask me. Guttermouth is one of the few "punk" bands that I actually enjoy. Punk kids seem to have some sense of leadership that I just despise... Take a shower and listen to some decent upbeat music.

Punk has always been about being real: politically or otherwise, on a global scale and on an individual scale. This a love song: a most fucking honest and relate-able love song. None of that "we'll be happy and beautiful and perfect forever" bullshit that we all know is contrived, but people still eat up that garbage on the radio like cattle. Looks like you're with them.

Totally agree with the top comments. The Ramones for example was one of the first punk bands and their lyrics didn't have much of a meaning, it was just talking about doing nothing and partying and stuff.

enema of the state and toypaj were also great, but with the self-titled album and neighborhoods they went commercial.

Everyone says Gusto was their worst, but I really don't think so. It was just different because they incorporated a lot of strange genre elements. A couple of my favorite Guttermouth songs came from that album. Would also say that Gorgeous is definitely not their best.

Guttermouth rocks and there are so many great punk bands all in a genre of their own. Ramones did what they had to do, they saved us from Disco and the disco groups that pretended to be rock aka KISS, Blondie, Donnie and Marie hahaha Yeah I group them all together. Punk is not about political uprising, it's about not following the masses, daring to be different and fuck it if people can't take it. Ramones took no credit for the start of many great bands but gave Iggy and the Dolls full credit.
