One of the first albums I ever bought. Still sounds hauntingly beautiful.
There is no other song I can listen to that brings me back to a deep love that didn't last, but leapt and flared so many evenings to this song in the autumn of 1968.
I have a very dear friend who is 73.. (but don't tell her that) she listens to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Arlo Guthrie, The Offspring, and many countless other rock bands that most baby boomers listen to. I know who Arlo Guthrie is but never listened to his music other then his tunes being played on a radio station. Then one particular day she asked me if I liked his music and I said I never really gave it much thought. Then she played Alice's Restaurant for me...well, long story short, I loved it. Especially Chilling of the evening...it has the most beautiful melody...I can get lost in it...ya know?
