Gungor - Brother Moon Lyrics

Brother moon
Shine down your light on us tonight
Show us the love of God
Sister sun you bring out the day
You're shining the light of God on your face today
Maker of it all
You provide it all
In You we live
In You we move
In You we have our being
You're glorious
You're holding us together all together
Brother wind your clouds and your storms
You're breathing the breath of God in your lungs for us
Mother earth, you're giving us life with God's open hand you always provide
For us
Maker of it all
You provide it all
In You we live
In You we move
In You we have our being
You're glorious
You're holding us together all together
You are everything good, you are everything beautiful
You are everything, you're everything

Gungor Brother Moon Comments
  1. M.... R....

As a Christian and a Franciscan I find this piece of music delightful and beautiful; it captures the same spirit that Francis of Assisi proclaimed in the poem "Canticle of the Creatures." Thanks so much for sharing . . . may His name be praised!

  2. G.... R....

    Yes! =)

  3. R.... P....

    gungor doesn't count

  4. A.... ....

You can appreciate the wonder in the world around us without it being pagan. The song isn't worshipping NATURE, it's worshipping God, who CREATED nature. It's appreciating the amazing things God has made.

  5. J.... R....

I like how you randomly threw dogs in there lol.

  6. J.... R....

There is no xylophone in this song. You are probably referring to the glockenspiel.

  7. t.... ....

I wonder why Francis of Assisi's "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" was changed to "Brother Moon, Sister Sun." Maybe Gungor liked the alliteration. Good song though.

  8. M.... G....

To understand background for this song, take a look at St. Francis of Assisi's song Brother Sun Sister Moon. You'll see that it's a song of thanksgiving and praise, not a pagan song. Kind of like saying that a painting you are looking at is beautiful. When the painter hears it, He feels good. It is a form of praise.

  9. A.... ....

what in the world..... not liking this song. sounds really pagan-y if you ask meh o.O

  10. L.... M....

    Sufjan Stevens-ish

  11. P.... ....

I think Gungor calls this song Brother Moon because the moon is creation and we are too, and that helps point us to God and remind us that God is all powerful and yet He still cares about us! But that's just my interperatation

  12. P.... ....

    I LOVE the xylophone!!!! =D

  13. S.... ....

When someone mentions there being no dislikes, people begin disliking it. Heheh. But you 're right.

  14. J.... J....

    esta linda esta cancion

  15. a.... ....

    beeeest band ever

  16. e.... f....

    poor little replay button

  17. B.... C....

@sevenwhales it's a musician singing praises to God.. not some heretical bigot trying to blaspheme the name he reveres. i can't believe how fickle devout individuals can be at times.. frowny face.

  18. P.... ....

I see your point, but I think the song is just saying that God holds all of creation. Calling the sun and moon sibling is just a way of attributing everything to God. :) We are all in His perfect hands and are made perfect only through Him.

  19. J.... T....

It cannot be found in the bible the words "brother moon" or "sister sun." "And they exchanged the truth of God for lies, and they revered and served created things more than their Creator, to whom belong praises and blessings to the eternity of eternities, amen"(Rom 1:25,Aramaic Bible in plain English). We are called co-heirs with Christ, and therefore, brothers and sisters of Christ, not the sun, moon, and the earth. (Gal. 3:29, Rom 8:P17, Eph 3:6). Song is not theologically sound.

    J.... T....

Jackie Trout Did you listen to the chorus? It's directed straight at the Father!

  20. O.... N....

I live this song!!!! I am doing a lyrical dance to this song, I love it

  21. J.... S....

this song is so cute!! it reminds me of little baby creatures popping out of their burrows and seeing a pretty new spring morning with flowers blooming and trees swaying in a light breeze. love this song!

  22. T.... ....

Wow I was feeling a lil sad untill this song cheered up.

  23. J.... B....

Omg, that flute at the beginning???? I'm in love!!!!!!!

  24. J.... ....

@Ozgood23 well yeah the radio music is very bland lol but it's way better than all the other music out there that talks about mostly sex drugs and money

  25. A.... M....

@Ozgood23 hei, not all Christian music is talentless.. Btw, here's a suggestion Stellar Kart, you could listen the preview on iTunes. That's one of my favorite band.

  31. T.... H....

@Ozgood23 Have you heard of DC Talk or switchfoot or hillsong? They are pretty different from what ur talking about I know what you mean by generic predictable repetitive music. These bands do not fit into any of those try them out

  32. K.... B....

The intro sounds like a Windows Phone ringtone.

  33. l.... o....

I'm a christian but hate christian music cause it is so generic and talentless. But Gongor is just so totally different. I'm a huge music fanatic and I'm so thankful for a christian band that is actaully talented. Its a breath of fresh air from the cliche stuff you hear on the radio with the same four chords over and over

  34. i.... ....

    love it!!!

  35. P.... ....

<3 flute!!!!!! (and cello) my two favorite instruments of all no doubt!

  38. T.... ....

@footballfruitycake maybe just of the rude type ©

  39. N.... S....

@classicalnut1 I absolutely love all the variety in their music. I am a musician myself, and I love listening closely to each element of music to figure it out / analyze it. So I totally understand you, and I agree that this song is amazing...absolutely "Holy Spirit" dance-like beauty. :)
    Check out my original songs....NateStein123.
    God Bless

  40. m.... ....

@classicalnut1 yeah that's what i was thinking. it's so hard to find a musically good and innovating worship band these days, so i'm really happy with this band :D

  41. c.... l....

    love !
    :)

  42. G.... ....

They can throw such a catchy melody over such a wild timing structure on that outro and make it sound amazing. It is 23 beats separated into 6/4 8/4 9/4, that is something you never hear in your everyday praise and worship music. I love how the break down so many boundaries and stereotypes of christian music and still make it all so amazing, the music and the message

  43. I.... U....

    @azndude10 So so true. :)

  44. N.... R....

I was at the Trevecca cd release show. :) Absolutely MIND BLOWING. If you get the chance, see these guys in concert. It's a phenomenal experience. Complete with a boy's choir, string section, visual tie-ins and screen-projected lyrics, and phenominal musicianship. This thing is an experience. Beautiful, touching, heartfelt, personal. The kind of stuff that makes you want to shout for joy until your hurt and break down and cry at the same time. Life changing.

  45. s.... ....

Just got this album last night! it is sooooo good!
