When The Band Was Shakin All Over.....Should have been a hit.
I thought this was an great album I have all their albums and each one was so different B Cummings seemed to sing the blues rock and even slight pop I did not know the band. Flavours album was the first album i managed to get due to ban on music in South Africa but I managed to work backwards ...just realized how much better they where to me than the Beatles but that is a matter of opinion .....much more poetry ....the best band to come out Canada by far .....

I am a Canadian and I am ashamed of being Canadian every time I hear about the Guess Who and their song American Woman. This song is an anti USA song and the Guess Who had no just cause for this hate through their music. As far as I know the USA did not do anything to them. Part of being Canadian is respecting other countries that believe in freedom. The Guess Who is just a bratty spoiled bunch who gave and still gives Canada a bad image.
Any interpretation other than that they were being cool, anti-establishment and trying to fit in with the hip crowd (with limited success... didn't help their cred to perform at Nixon's White House) is a load of crap. That Cummings interview thing about "actually it meant Canadian Woman, I need you" is PR bullshit.
How do you get away from the the "war machines, ghetto scenes" references??
And there's no way that the majority believe it's about a particular girl.

Prophetic, yes. Interesting how a tune from the mid-70's STILL describes much of the world situation as it exists today. Burton and The Guess Who were such a great, great band. My 2nd favorite band of all time.
