Guess Who, The - Coming Down Off The Money Bag / Song Of The Dog Lyrics

Been playin' in a band for 99 years
Been doin' these tunes just to please your ears
Follow the changes, there are but three
They can change, you know, any way you please
Now take this tune I'm pickin' away
The way I pick is what I say
But ev'ry once in a while it becomes a drag
So I come down off the money bag

Been playin' in a band for ninety nine years
Been doing these tunes just to please your ears
Follow these changes, there are but three
They can change you know anyway you please
Now, take this tune I'm picking away
Away I pick is what I say
But every once in a while it becomes a drag
So, I come down off the money bag

    I'm gonna leave this city
Leave my woman troubles far behind
    Gonna leave this city
Leave my woman troubles far behind
One day she says she loves me
Next day treat me so unkind
    I hopped into the station
Get me leavin' ticket just one way
    I hopped into the station
Get me a leavin' ticket just one way, can't stay
One time she says she loves me
Next day say lover boy go away
I'm been playin' in a band for ninety nine years
Been doing these tunes just to please your ears
Follow the changes, there are but three
They can change you know anyway you please
Now, take this tune I'm picking away
Away I pick is what I say, yeah
But every once in a while it becomes a drag
So, I come down off the money bag
    It's the truth boys

Yep, one of my Favs. Greg fit in perfectly with these guys! 5 Stars***** Shame he and Kurt didn't stay for the duration. Troiano did NOT fit in , boo!

    o.... ....

Without a doubt Kurt (RIP) was my favorite. Still Dominic (RIP) was an awesome addition on the last 2 albums.

Man I can't believe I found this song. I used to groove on this and the whole Share The Land Album when I was a youngun. Love it.

  8. b.... ....

JELLY ROLL KIRKPATRICK, AKA BURTON LORNE CUMMINGS ON VOCALS.

  9. C.... ....

Now looking back at this great song, it is probably the first country-ish song I've ever heard (I bought Share The Land new at age 10). I love the guitar interplay of Winter and Leskiw. (Greg is very talented, I've heard Les-Q, Mood Zga Zga, Kilowatt). Love to crank this up. Thanks for the memories!

  10. B.... ....

Hmmm a true mystery...I think I'm kind of split 50-50 on this one!

  11. 1.... ....

I thought so too, but I now believe it to be Cummings.

  12. B.... ....

I'm pretty sure Greg Liskiw is singing that part too

@jmaxcamp No hero here. Only a music lover, just like you and the others. In fact, heroes would be this extraordinary rock'roll band. For several years, they were simply the best around the world.

  14. S.... L....

Thanks, loved the song, almost wore the album out back in the seventies.

  15. J.... M....

thaks for posting this is one

Uh, wasn't Jelly Roll Kirkpatrick actually Greg singing through some type of electronic device? It sounds too much like him! This is my all-time favorite band!

  17. 1.... ....

And Jelly Roll Kirkpatrick would also answer to the name of Burton Cummings, yes?

  18. R.... ....

    This is GREAT!!!
