Groves, Sara - This Cup Lyrics

How many hours have I spent
Watching this shining tv
Living adventure in proxy
In another person's dream
How many miles have I traveled
Looking at far away lights
Listening for trains in the distance
In some brilliant other life?

This cup, this cup
I wanna drink it up
To be right here in the middle of it
Right here, right here
This challenging reality
Is better than fear or fantasy

So take up what we've been given
Welcome the edge of our days
Hemmed in by sunrise and sunset
By our youth and by our age
Thank God for our dependence
Here's to our chasm of need
And how it binds us together
In faith and vulnerability

This cup, this cup
I wanna drink it up
To be right here in the middle of it
Right here, right here
This challenging reality
Is better than fear or fantasy

What if my whole world falls apart?
What if my life could be different?
What if I sat right here and took you in
Without the fear and loved you whole
Without the flight and didn't try to pass

This cup, this cup
I wanna drink it up
To be right here in the middle of it
Right here, right here
This beautiful reality
Is better than fear or fantasy
Is better than fear or fantasy
Is better than fear or fantasy

LOVE this. Sara has been a fav of mine for almost 10 years. So much better than anything on the radio. The more you listen to an album, the more beautiful it gets. The reverse is true for most music. I can't recommend her stuff enough!!

its been a while since Ive tuned in. this I regret. "when it was over" sort of morphed into an orchestra during a concerto of thin places, blessing a very powerful moment that my sister and I will never forget.

You, Charlie P, Kendall, and Jennifer have lyrics that will stay with me till I go. I rarely listen to music thats marketed as Christian, but Sara you have substance that trancends many of the sad realities a "thinking Christian" is forced to juggle when they turn on "Christian radio." its honest and I can feel it. in its own way, your music covers a multitude of sins. ccm should be singing "undo me" to the artist who wrote those lyrics, if you know what I mean. but unfortunately thats "thinkin Christian" stuff. high irony is not found in the "Christian Living" section. one day tho...

wow Sarah always surprises us. I haven't listened to her newest albums, the last one I heard is Conversations from 2001. But am happy to have found this.
