For some reason this song used to calm my first born down more than any other song. No idea why. Just played it for my 2nd new born and the exact same thing. The only problem is they get all worked up as soon as the song finishes. Such a beautiful piece of music.

This album strangely reminds me of Iron and Wine for some reason... Maybe because it has that mellow, relaxed feel, and the soft touch of early 2000s microphones, because it wasn't as high quality and sharp as nowadays.

I never really understood the hype of this song among Grizzly Bear fans. I've only liked (loved, actually) this band for a couple weeks now, and so far Veckatimest and Shields are already some of my favorite albums ever. The band is really quite brilliant all in all, but every time I hear this song I just get really bored and want to skip. But Pitchfork listed this song and Two Weeks in their 500 greatest songs of the 2000's, and no others from this album. I just can't understand what's so good about it. Maybe someone can explain to me the magic in it that I can't hear? I'm genuinely curious of what the responses may be, so please do tell.

I used to find it kind of boring too and then I saw them play it live and it changed the way I hear it. It is now one of my favorite songs

Lyrically it's a great track although Grizzly Bear has always been lyrically strong. I'm a huge Grizzly Bear fan but I'm not a big fan of this song but I get the appeal. It's pretty rich in texture too and the vocals are very passionate as well as beautiful

I absolutely love this song and "Veckatimest" but, in my opinion, "Shields" knocked it out of the park. Grizzly Bear only get better with age.

Yes, music is subjetive. But subjectivity has limits. "Grizzly Bear is a different genre than Pink Floyd, so all you can say is that you like one more than the other, and not that one is better than the other" - correct and afirmative. But you cannot say the same for Bieber (and the rest of the "gang" - Riahnna, Gaga, Minaj, etc) because they are not music. They make money, not art. They're performers, not artists, nor musicians. So, you're almost right, but not completely.

It is, but I agree with Scott Hall, Veckatimest is just one of the best albums I have ever listened to, right alongside Helpless Blues. I just fail to find a weak spot and it gets better with every listen.

My analyiss on the vid He's a depressed man, time passing slow (clocks)and he uses his hobbies(reading, fencing) make himself feel good every single day(cube screen thingy) and he knows its all useless and when he dreams of the holiday his brain shows a more exciting emotion(not repetetive) , he kicks away his hobbies and books but they grasp him at the end, and hes covered in his time passing hobies to make himself feel good. you want him to break free but he could afterall be comfortable in it

Nah. I don't listen to The Beatles at all, I rarely listen to Pink Floyd and I'm a fairly avid Hendrix fan. The only thing is that these bands innovated and were highly influential. I just don't see how Grizzly Bear doing such off the wall stuff like The Beatles and Pink Floyd did for their own times. Not to mention it's totally and apples to oranges comparison, and I do enjoy Grizzly Bear. I really can't see the comparison, though.

Grizzly Bear are probably one of the most innovative indie bands ever tho. Yellow House mixes indie rock, indie folk, psychedelic, progressive etc like no other and they have their distinct production on top of that. Other Grizzly Bear albums are great too but Yellow House is a prime example imo. They were pretty experimental back in the day imo, not the most experimental tho.
