Griffin, Patty - Waiting For My Child Lyrics

I was talking to a lady a few days ago
And these are the words she said
If you see my child somewhere
As you journey here and there
Tell him I'm waiting for my child to come home

I am waiting and waiting for my child to come
I'm waiting and waiting for my child to come
If you can't come home
Could you please send me a letter
A letter would mean so much to me

Oh my child may be somewhere
On his sick bed
With no one there to rub his aching head

Oh my child may be somewhere
In some lonely jail
With no one there to go his bail
If I only knew what town my child was in
I'll be there on that early morning train
And no matter what's crime
Lord you know that this child is mine
That’s why I'd be waiting for my child to come home

I am waiting, waiting for my child to come
I am waiting, waiting for my child to come
If he can't come home
Could he please send me a letter
A letter would mean so much to me

I am waiting, waiting
I am waiting and waiting
I am waiting for my child to come home

    WOW! What a beautiful song!

  2. P.... G....

Why has this got so few views; and why can anyone ever have disliked it?

  3. P.... G....

I do not understand why there have been so few people listening to this magic.

Beautiful song sung by the best (and most underrated) voice around. Nothing quite gives my goosebumps like Patty's sweet soulful sound.

My mom use to sing this song to me when I was a little girl. Oh how I wish to her hearing this song one more time. REST IN HEAVEN MOM.

+Debi Brand So sorry, Debi. My daughter shares your son's name. We named her after Jeremy Glick's son. Jeremy was one of the brave men who fought off the terrorists over Pennsylvania on 9/11. Even though she was born five years before your son's death, I will tell her that she also shares her name with another brave man and patriot.

    Wow.

Thank you for such an honor, Tony.

    I love the name, "Emerson."

You tell your daughter for me, Emerson's momma has her in her heart, mind and prayers.

Thank you, again, for your words.

This speaks for every parent who worries, frets, prays, hopes and dreams for their child as that child leaves the protection of our eyes and ears and fight. We wait. We wait for holidays, leaves, vacations and any moment to hear from or see them. God bless our children, the parents who hold their breath, bless us all.
