Grieves - Pressure Cracks Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I feel like I've been breathing out of an exhaust pipe
On the job site, with a fist full of brittle sand
Should have seen it coming
A mile away from the little hill in which I'm making a stand on
It makes a man of me (doesn't it?)
And if it never kills me then I get a pass
Wish I could've opened up the air around me
Just a little bit so I could take a gasp
Who the hell is watching?
Put a notch in my belt, keep it on the tracks
Shoulda woulda coulda never made a difference
When you're playing chicken with your only chance
But it made a man of me, right? Mad man
That gotta dance around and play his sounds
Wish I knew back then what I know now
Yeah, look at me now!

[Hook]
Dodging forever
Spending a fortune to figure it out
I don't believe it
Never learned how
All of this pressure is driving me wild
Look at me now
[repeat]

[Verse 2]
I'm starting to feel like it's stacking on my shoulders
Another soldier with little patience to see the dawn
Fought a lot of odds, in the name of cause
Put em in a box buried in the lawn
But I learned a lesson from it, didn't I?
And if I didn't who the hell is gonna teach me?
I've been looking for answers
And none of em ever offered a lesson that'll reach me
Who can see me?
Losing personal relationships like people do they house keys
I've been outside, looking inside
With a shadow casted all around me
And they doubt me
Try to throw a little part of me away with every frown
Just wish they saw what I know now
Yeah, look at me now!

[Hook]
Dodging forever
Spending a fortune to figure it out
I don't believe it
Never learned how
All of this pressure is driving me wild
Look at me now
[x3]

Shout out from another metal head \M/

  29. Derek Yelinek

    My favorite of his songs.

  30. auxarmes

Maybe it's just me but anyone else hear how the drums seem so tight, and then the snare comes in with the little triplet roll like its cracking up and busting?
Sick as shit. When your beat matches your lyrics/feeling, or just gives you its own image without the lyrics, thats when you know it's good stuff. The instrumental speaks to you as much as the words do, and put together, intertwining perfectly, *ruined panties*.

    Austin Brown

All because of Budo. Seen Grieves live sets a few times and he does EVERYTHING on the spot, trumpet, keys, drum pads/loops etc.. and it sounds exactly the same as the record. It's insane. Highly underrated.

    d w

what up nephew!! That live trumpet blindsided me too!!!

    Esoteric Cleric

auxarmes "snare", "triplet roll", "ruined panties"... I love you

    Stephen Booth

Lmao man I feel you. He goes in on all his shit.

    California Dreaming

This foo rides the beat like a wave.

  31. bro1ification

One of his deepest Dopest tracks grieves all day ey day

  32. New channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sad to know one of these days he'll be considered mainstream like he's good AF and people will be like oh wow you listen to grieves haha how mainstream like fuck you I've been listening to him since his first songs -,-

    Vinny

    Please leave, hipster.

    auxarmes

You're either a hipster or a basic bitch nowadays haha
The only natural recourse is to say fuck it and do you, who cares.

    Wyatt Meehan

Well i mean being mainstream will bring him success right soooo... i hope he does

    Brandon West

What you do in those situations is show them Grieves old music. (If you think they deserve to hear his old stuff). That usually shuts them up.

This used to happen to me all the time with Kendrick Lamar.
Most people nowadays dont even know he used to be called K-Dot or they dont even know about his pre Freshman album music.
Then I show them his Untitled album, Overly Dedicated, or Section.80, & they shut up real quick, or thank me and let me know they like my taste in music.

  33. word2yermutha

One of my favorite songs right now

    D.B. Cooper

"If he can keep growing his talent, he will be considered mainstream one day."

So you think mainstream rapper do have more talent than he has? Seriously?

  35. imathayne

I always think that line is BS- "wish I knew back then what I know now." Sometimes ignorance truly is best, particularly if life is hard and scarring, and sometimes it isn't actually your fault that it doesn't work out.

But I guess someone thinks they know it all or is still blaming themselves?

    LifeAsA

Wouldn't have "been dodgin' forever, spendin' a fortune to figure it out" if he just knew back then what he knows now.

  36. TheDeadaztec

    too fucking awesome

  37. D.B. Cooper

If he can keep growing his talent, he will be considered mainstream one day.

  43. Steven Smith

Nobody cares, quit bringing up other rappers in every single video just like everybody else. And fyi hopsin isn't that bad, ever actually listened to his lyrics without your preexisting hate towards him? Just shut up and enjoy the music.

  44. Garrettalllikewhat

This has less views than fucking hopsin. FUCKING HOPSIN

    Dylan Groves

Garrettalllikewhat Yea but hopsin is fucking dope one of my favorite artist and a lot of people favorite yet he still doesn't get recognized
