Gregory Alan Isakov - Salt And The Sea Lyrics

Train station, I know you all too well
Tainted in salutation
And I’m going back where I belong
With the salt and the sea and the stones
Save them all for me

Train station, I know you all too well
From the boarding we all came and fell
Into your room
The tracks raced beneath our feat
Through square windows, so clean
Well I could see them walking away

I belong with the salt and the sea and the stones
Save them all for me.

As you lay sleeping on the cloth seat beside me
I stood awake there dreaming
Some other form to be

And the words you could say
That would always keep me near
Is stay..stay

I belong with the salt and the sea and the stones
Save them all for me.

Lumineers album 3 has a song called this. It hasn’t came out yet.

  2. T.... W....

I'm sitting here late on this cold night sipping my beer and smoking my pipe thinking about my girl back home. I think I want her to marry me.

    T.... W....

    Did you ask her?

    +Jordan Crowl Thanks :)

    S.... ....

Reminds me a bit more of gypsy jazz

    S.... ....

Yeah Bossa Nova is probably how you'd find music similar to this but technically it's just really jazzy indie folk.

    Night and Daa-a-ay... :-)

Oh I absolutely love this, thank you for sharing :-)

  7. C.... H....

does anybody have the chords for this???

    C.... H....

I've looked at it a bit this afternoon, and this is what I've found. There's a 16 count intro before the song actually begins.

    Intro:
    -Dmin7(flat-5) [for 16 counts]

    Verse part 1:
    -Dmin7(flat-5) [for 4 counts]
    -G7 [for 4 counts]
    -Cmaj7 [for 4 counts]
    -Cmaj7 [for 2 counts]
    -Bmaj7 [for 2 counts]

    Verse part 2:
    Repeat verse part 1.

    Verse part 3:
    -Fmaj7 [for 4 counts]
    -Emaj7 [for 4 counts]
    -Emin7(flat-5) [for 4 counts]
    -D#min7(flat-5) [for 4 counts]

    Verse part 4:
    -Dmin7 [for 4 counts]
    -G7 [for 4 counts]
    -Cmaj7 [for 4 counts]
    -Cmaj7 [for 2 counts]
    -Bmaj7 [for 2 counts]

This is repeated throughout the rest of the song until the end, where on the first count Cmaj7/F is strummed slowly and then resolved to Cmaj7.

These are the base chords, but the positions vary in some of them. Hope this helped!
