Gregg Allman - Don't Keep Me Wonderin' Lyrics

Tell me 'bout the car I saw
Parked outside your door
Tell me what you left me waiting
Two or three hours for
Tell me why when the phone rings baby
You're up and across the floor
Please don't keep me wonderin' no longer

I think about the bad times
I think about yours and mine
You were lost in the silver spoon
Thought I pulled you out in time
I hope that you got reasons
For the way that you've been lyin'
Please don't keep me wonderin' no longer

I think I better go now
But you know that I'll be back
You can think it over Baby
Tell me how you're gonna act
I'm gonna keep on holding on
But I don't get no stronger
Please don't keep me wonderin' no longer

I think I better go now
But you know that I'll be back
You can think it over Baby
Tell me how you're gonna act
I'm gonna keep on holding on
But I don't get no stronger
Please don't keep me wonderin' no longer
Please don't keep me wonderin' no longer

I know, I know, I know
You've never been in love before, oh baby

  5. s.... b....

    Love Berry’s bass line

  6. T.... T....

The band at their near peak. Priceless footage.

  7. R.... M....

Man too bad I mean too damn bad they didn't fix Greg's audio problem. This is a really high-quality video. But without Gregg Allman singing it just have to band

  8. N.... ....

ugh it is so frustrating to see the footage from these shows! I picture some old fart working the camera and having no idea what a guitar solo even is! Let alone actually film one!!! What a waste

  9. j.... G....

This show was great, it was for educational television, and, I believe it was a free show. However, the Brothers were cut due the mic issues and perhaps because the songs that followed were Dreams, Elizabeth Reed and finally, Whipping Post. The Brothers were warned not to get into one of their jams, that there were time constraints. They were able to control themselves throughout Dreams, after that, I believe they did an 18 minute jam on Reed. Sometimes I wonder if they didn't edit Duane out because they were punishing him for breaking the 'rules.' This show never aired...they cut the whole set.

  10. J.... S....

Saw Tedeschi Trucks band crush this one last night. It was wonderful.

  11. T.... D....

1970. Umm best year of my teens. I'd've been a groupie if my parents hadn't put a tight leash around my neck. Still snuck a way to see them. Never got to meet them though.
Cant hear the singing hardly. Needs fixed.

  12. c.... s....

Great song but a bad mix. Too bad. I love the studio version. Still a great song

  13. S.... D....

I just freakin love this, Tom Doucette hammerin that Harp and DA on slide, all of Brothers just blowing the dam roof off !! And shoot mines about to blow off with speakers tweakin! Thank You for this video, means a lot to some of us out here, who live and breath ABB even now after its all in the memories.. Thank You ABB For the music that lives in us.. Thank You

  14. S.... S....

Why did it take so long for someone to realize Gregg's microphone wasn't on?

  15. T.... S....

Duane was off the charts with his slide playing.

  16. S.... J....

    First song smokes!!!!

  17. K.... N....

Duane Allman is my boy crush

  18. G.... B....

    Harry Styles on Harmonica

  19. H.... G....

    Oh wow! Beautiful

  20. C.... ....

I love seeing Tom Doucette the Harp player he's the one that really gave them the the southern blues sound. A description that the Allman Brothers themselves dismissed.

  21. A.... T....

Where the ....is DUANE soloing?’ Dammit!

    A.... T....

A couple of days later. I know, it looks like he is just getting used to the slide...we know that's not the case...but,, I believe he was getting ideas from Thom, who took over with that harmonica. 2 days more and he is all over the neck of that guitar....check it out....
there are definitely camera issues with this video...but, I take what I can get....

  22. d.... u....

  27. d.... W....

    Duane goes for solo.
camera zooms at harmonica player, real smart

  28. N.... C....

It's so sad to think about what could have been if Duane and Berry had lived to create more music. This band was amazing. Gregg, I regret I never saw you live. You are a soulful, sweet spirit. I hope when I get to Heaven, I can hear you play.

  29. R.... H....

Aside from the weird camera work - how about focusing on Duane's radioactive solo on the ending instead of the dude playing harmonica, and the fact that you can't really hear Gregg at all, this is a smokin performance.

  30. E.... V....

The Legends Live ! intact & complete at Work ! Amazing ! this Live Concert is a Collectors item !!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    so young,, so good...
wish i could jump back in time and hear them once more...

  38. S.... C....

its a shame that this great show was recorded and edited by amateurs

  39. S.... P....

spot on harmonies slide and harmonica incredible to think Duane had a total of 7 years to become the monster slide player he was. truly one of the greatest guitar players ever!

    S.... P....

Well Duane started playing guitar when he was 12 or 13 but he only began to play slide back in 1968, it is amazing how after only 2 years he already mastered it.

  40. M.... M....

THERE ARE U TUBE VIDEOS DONE BY ELIJAH BLUE THAT HAVE EXCELLENT VOLUME ON GREGG'S VOICE!

  41. M.... M....

Why why are the vocals so low on this?

    M.... M....

Remember that sound & the video (probably film) does not compare with current technology. In other words, can't look @ the '70's through the lens of today.

    M.... M....

1st song of the set, board man adjusted that, it happens

  42. P.... M....

So hard to find footage of Duane jamming.
What a force, what a loss...

    P.... M....

This footage, the ATL International Music Fest 7/4/70, and the Love Valley Festival July 1970 are pretty much it that I've seen.

    P.... M....

@EBlaier I remember there being a few videos of Duane from the UNC chapel hill jubilee. I have a small clip of it on my channel but I'm not exactly sure what video I got it from...

    P.... M....

It was a sad day the day we lost him.

  43. w.... ....

Butch, Berry, Duane, Gregg and Allen... damn, there's a big ol party up there tonight...

  44. D.... H....

Rest in Peace Gregg...I can imagine you and Duane and Barry hugging after so long apart and Butch just smiling...

    D.... H....

@Reverend Ovni Thanks, sweets, I get so tired...

  45. C.... K....

    RIP Gregg.

  46. J.... M....

    RIP Gregg Allman

  47. c.... ....

This was right after I first saw them at Atlanta Pop II on 7-4-70. I swear they sounded just this great. What an amazing recording....

  48. J.... T....

    Caneramans' for shit.............

  49. E.... B....

    great, great Memories ...... !!!

  50. T.... ....

Does somebody know the bass line?

  51. p.... ....

    My God.
    Wow.

  52. W.... R....

Good lord what happened at 2:39 ? !

  53. A.... D....

y the fuck is the camera man so stupid literally every time duane does some sorta solo which is about three times in this song they dont have literally one shot of him. I dont wanna see butchs face or dickey playing chords!!!!!!! so frustrating

  54. H.... F....

I hope they didn't pay that camera man much money, cause he did a horrible job. Each time Duane did a soaring solo, we get shots of Dickie playing chords or Butch playing. Man, this guy should be shot.

    H.... F....

But we have to remember that in 1970 the technology for both video & audio was so rudimentary. So even though the video (film?) may look like it was the AV guy from high school doin' it, we're looking through the lens of today. Can't really judge that time by today's standards. Just sayin'.

  55. w.... j....

    RIP Butch Trucks

  56. X.... ....

that slide...one of the best and so young. I love how the harmonica starts off playing off one guitar then moves to the other. If you haven't heard this on old vinyl you are missing out. Personally, I think the Allman Brothers were the best jam band ever, better than the dead or phish. I like the blues a lot though.

    X.... ....

Always three hours late to perform...but gave you more than your money's worth every single darn time!

    X.... ....

Ninety-Nine Percent who's playing the harmonica?

    X.... ....

    @Marilyn Mack Thom Ducuette(sp?)

  57. C.... L....

Hard to believe Greg was ONLY 22 when this was recorded. Total natural talent...timing phrasing power a real blues shouter I bought this album the month it was issued

    C.... L....

What a prolific song writer was Greg. Really a tremendous blessing upon the human race. Duane was just getting started...:(

  58. l.... e....

barry sure layed down some fat bass lines

  59. R.... C....

    My favorite by far..

    Summary:
On this date, Bill Graham assembled a stellar roster of bands to participate in the filming of a television special called Welcome To The Fillmore East for broadcast on educational channels. Short sets were filmed by the Byrds, the Elvin Bishop Group, Sha-Na-Na, Van Morrison, and the Allman Brothers Band, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of Bill Graham and the Fillmore East staff at work.

The Allman Brothers performance is nothing short of spectacular and features the original lineup that included Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. Recorded six months prior to the legendary Live At Fillmore East double album set, this performance captures the Allman Brothers when they were a relatively new band, full of youthful passion and performing what would become classic original material when it was fresh and new.

Following Bill Graham's introduction, they kick things off with a tight performance of "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'," which features the band's friend, Tom Doucette, blowing harp over the group's trademark sound. Gregg's vocal is barely audible, but it's obvious the group is full of fire. "Dreams," which follows, slows things down a bit and the group establishes a relaxed groove that showcases their trademark sound, blending elements that would eventually come to define "Southern Rock."

They hit their stride on the next number, Dickey Betts' "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed." Here, the dual guitar attack of Allman and Betts is astounding. The two guitarists intertwine and synchronize in a manner nothing short of telepathic, creating a melting pot seasoned with elements of jazz, rock, country, and blues into a style utterly their own. The set ends with a ferocious take of "Whipping Post" that features outstanding melodic bass playing from Berry Oakley, with both Duane Allman and Dickey Betts soaring over the propulsive rhythm section. Shorter than the expansive versions that would develop in coming months, this is all the more fascinating for it, as they compress an incredible amount of energy into the time allotted.

Time constrictions and vocal microphone malfunctions aside, this is still a fascinating performance. This original lineup of the band was certainly one of the most innovative and captivating bands to ever play the Fillmore.

  61. E.... G....

i just want 2 hear the Guitars.

    E.... G....

Edward Garcia That's good, cuz the vocal mic is clearly turned off. 😳

  62. b.... ....

who is playing harmonica on this!???

    b.... ....

    Thom "Ace" Doucette

  63. M.... G....

Love Duane Allman's slide playing ability. One of the true greats!! Johnny Winter is the only one who could touch Duane's abilities. Of course, that's just my opinion.

    M.... G....

Michael G. Westerhouse Westerhouse I agree, Johnny was a hell of a slide player, but I think Duane was better

    M.... G....

Michael G. Westerhouse Westerhouse a great opportunity for us to share with the world a true leagond

    M.... G....

    derek trucks is good too

  64. r.... v....

    Gallagher on drums

    r.... v....

poor butch bet he got that alot,,,keep him away from them mellons he's a real beater

    r.... v....

    Yeah really

  65. D.... H....

Great stuff but I can't believe that the camera focuses on anything but Duane while he was soloing.

    D.... H....

Dave Hoogerwerf was thinking the same thing.

    D.... H....

Fucking criminal, why do they always have film directors that obviously have not connection to the band's music and can't "read" the song.

    D.... H....

Dave Hoogerwerf that's actually a no-brainer at the time because he didn't really have God status until the live album they only had two albums under their belt the debut and Idlewild South so he wasn't really a guitar guide yet in 1970 that's the reason why they were panting around the whole band does that make more sense to ya Dave once you realize the actual time frame that this concert takes place 6 months before Fillmore when they really would like the place up and make a name for themselves

  66. L.... M....

Wow. How incredible modern life is. We can see people perform who have been dead for decades!!

  67. 1.... ....

why we cant hear the voice ! :(

    1.... ....

Gregg's mike was fucked up. It sounded fine in the audience, but the recording board didn't have it plugged in or something. This was for a TV special at the fillmore, and almost certainly would have meant the Brothers would have broken big a year before they did. The Allman brothers songs had to be dropped due to the mike issue.

    1.... ....

All that is true, The mic problems were one issue and the songs that followed were Dreams, Elizabeth Reed and finally, Whipping Post. The Brothers were warned not to get into one of their jams, there were time constraints (it was for educational TV), they were able to control themselves through Dreams, but did an 18 minute jam on Elizabeth Reed and another long one on Whipping Post. Making this concert a great show. But never did it air. The other songs are on here...check them out...the guitars go so crazy they do get video time and Berry too, just takes over and they show that...However, leaving Duane out totally seems almost a jab at him for not following the 'rules.'

+silverninethirty Touche sir, I was negative 20 years old.

    s.... ....

Thankfully it was recorded and we can watch it as often as we want

  73. C.... R....

Southern Rock at it's rockin' best! Thanks for the upload!!

    C.... R....

According to Alan Paul's 2014 book, the band hated the term "Southern Rock"

    C.... R....

@Steve Hunter Still kinda what it is...

  74. M.... G....

I second that!  Even though the frickin camera doesn't follow him and his solo. Like one guitar is as good as another! and the sound guy - you cant hear greg!

  75. E.... P....

Wonderful to see video of this historic performance! #Duane. (Even though the frickin camera doesn't follow him and his solo.) Oh to be at the Fillmore East in 1970. Anyone know what the next song was, that they were tuning up for?

    E.... P....

@Eric Porcher Duane's guitar was tuned in open E tuning for "Don't Keep Me Wondering" He tuned his guitar down to standard tuning for the next song "Dreams" (without a tuner. Great ears)
I have searched far and wide for any videos of Duane playing slide, and unfortunately this show is the one that shows the most. This show was the best quality video of him, and yes the camera editing crew enormously screwed up by showing Butch Trucks drumming and the harmonica player during Duane's solo. But at least we get glimpses of the greatest guitar player ever.

    E.... P....

@robbie p Thanks for that. Yes, now I hear what they are tuning for. And yes, we don't hear tuning like that any more. So precious, any video (and sound) of Duane. Which makes the spectacular failures in camera editing here make it seem like some kind of shred video or something. Kind of criminal and comical at the same time!

    E.... P....

I wonder if the unedited tapes are still around somewhere. Wouldn't it be great if the show got reedited showing all of Duane's solos. That would be a treasure. I can't get enough of listening to Duane play guitar

  76. T.... T....

If only the idiots who edited this video focused on Duane when he took his solo. DAMN IT!

    T.... T....

Tom Caswell Blues no shit WTFO

    T.... T....

    Exactly!

    T.... T....

What? ...don't you wanna watch Dickey hold the rhythm down while Duane blisters his fretboard?

    T.... T....

Of course and in hind sight. However, remember, this was for a Television show to be aired on educational television. The next song was dreams, then Elizabeth Reed and, finally, Whipping post. There were audio problems and they told the brothers to not get into one of their jams, there were time constraints...so, I believe they did a little better on the other songs. Check them out...they are on here. Probably and maybe, this song served as an introduction to the band. On the other hand, WTF was the videographer thinking!?? I agree totally.

  77. L.... F....

    who is playing the harp?

    L.... F....

    Thom Doucette

    L.... F....

    Tom Doucette

  78. S.... N....
