This is a take on a middle ages concept - updated by the great bluesman of the '30s's  Robert Johnson, , who sold his soul at the crossroads of Mississippi Hway 61 near Rosedale in the 60's,  hence Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited"  and Cream's word-for-word reworking of Johnson's "Crossroads."  Even Great Big Sea refer to a crossroad,  Remember this is a legend folks - there is no satan to make a deal with.
Watching"the Republic of Doyle" introduced me to St. Johns, Newfoundland and the Great Big Sea. I live in Florida, but I am going to St. Johns before I die.

This is seriously the greatest song of all time. His voice is just so raw and rock and roll. It makes me want to get my old lady and swing her around the ballroom for a waltz or two. And then take her back home to the ranch and give that old cow a big old glass of milk.

I guess it depends on which of the bazillion denominations of whichever religion is true. If people are being infinitely tortured for finite sins by the god of heaven then yeah it would be like a living hell for me too. Even if I were in heaven.

already being an agnostic person out of christianity this songs ok, but it'd of been better if I heard it when I was becoming an athiest.

What can I say...they speak the truth in this song....lots of musicians sold their souls to the devil and confess it in their music. AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Black Sabbath, Robert Johnson, Eminem....to name a few

Woah. Just got this CD. GBS can rock it out hard :D. I loved these guys since I heard them. The song was when I am king and it's still my favorite song of the group. These guys are rediculusly talanted. If I ever go to canada or america I'm gonna plan the trip around one of their tours. I deffinetly have to see them live :)
