Gray, Jason - The Wound Is Where The Light Gets In Lyrics
I was halfway up the mountain when the rocks I held gave way
I came tumbling like an avalanche to the bottom where I lay
And with the taste of blood and the twist of bone my healing could begin
'Cause the wound is where the light, the wound is where the light
The wound is where the light gets in
I have stood there like a hostage with a knife held to my vein
Captive to the poison that I took to numb the pain
'Cause everybody wishes they were born with thicker skin
But the wound is where the light, the wound is where the light
The wound is where the light gets in
It's tricky how the heart works
When the break ups and the big jerks
Make us never wanna hurt that way again
Maybe I'm naive
The place where love is trying to break in
'Cause the wound is where the light gets in
You can recognize a saint by the scars they don't disguise
You can pick a real sinner by the kindness in their eyes
So if you're stumbling in the dark and bleeding at the shin
Remember the wound is where the light, the wound is where the light
The wound is where the light gets in
The wound is where the light, the wound is where the light
The wound is where the light gets in

Gray, Jason The Wound Is Where The Light Gets In Comments
Ooooooof. Wow, thank you. Those lyrics just took my breath away. Touched my heart.
"You can recognize a saint by the scars they don't disguise
You can pick a real sinner by the kindness in their eyes"
I'm building my website right now (I'm a healer), and I was looking up that quote from Rumi to put it on the front page, and found this song.
Keep goin, man.
I don't know if he come up with this massage on his own or not but this beautiful quote belongs to very famous persian poet "The wound is the place where the light enters you'', Rumi.
Slow songs give peace
So beautifully worded..Bless your heart..Keep singing pls..for us and Him
Amazing.
I have posted so new songs on my channel that I hope will encourage those in the transformation process. I hope they encourage you as much as Jason's music has encouraged me. John Ivey

OOF ITS SO GOOD
The wound is where the light enters you. ~ Rumi. (Muslim Persian Sufi)
Glad I found this.
The wound is the where the light gets in./ The wound is the place where the light gets in. ~ Rumi
I love Jason's music, always scripturally sound, timeless, yet so "hearable", accessible to today. This album literally saved my life, its messages continue to. Wounded healers. That's all of us. Love that.
Thank u Jason,im going through adversity, all de way from South Africa- your music blesses me! keep up!
me and my younger brother love this song :)
Interesting that this is a paraphrase of 13th c. Persian Poet Rumi's famous quote....hmm. Loving words are loving words .
I let the light in, but nothings changed, please any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
ShadowHawk My advice is: trust Jesus totally and live in truth, thats the best way to be happy and change your life :)
Shadowhawk, in my experience, when someone says they let the light in but nothing happened, it usually means, (not always,) there’s a fear of opening up or the wound is deeper and more painful than they can consciously face or open up to God. Ask God to show you what it is that’s blocking you. He already knows, but YOU need to know. He is there, He showed up the min you called Him. Stay strong and keep believing. God knows.
Give it time and don't give up on hope. Keep seeking after God. God has greater timing than we do. Don't give up on God's timing, but instead, give your time to God. Trust him in the trials!
Worship God through Christ for who HE IS, not for what he may do in your life. Praising him even when it feels like He is silent is an act of faith and worship, that WILL change you, just don't put time constraints on God. Seeking Him during quiet times is faith building, so as you wait on God, you grow...which is the change you're asking about.
Funny that this song was published on YouTube about a year ago and I only came across it today... the timing couldn't be better.
So powerful! <3
I love this song. I listen to this song everyday
He's talking about a repentant sinner who will always have the kindest eyes after receiving the love and forgiveness of the Lord Jesus Christ. #jasongray
"The one who is forgiven much will love much" after all.
This is real music. Not like Katy Perry's 'songs'.
This is such a gentle song, with much healing in it. Like the first bloom of plant life after a terrible wildfire. God has anointed this song
Bro thumbs up
Genius songwriting! Period.
I'm not countering the message, but what does it mean when he says "you can pick out a real sinner by the kindness in their eyes"?
Echoingdolphin I think he means that you can recognize a real sinner by the kindness in their eyes, because sinners were forgived by God sooooo much that they are kind, and you can see it in their eyes, because they know how it felt when you know you're a sinner and get shamed for it so much. I know that what happened with me. That's what I think anyways. God bless you ❤️❤️❤️
Lize Futcher god bless you dear friend. your comment made me see something i did wrong
Has the Bleach anime returned yet ? Awww, I'm glad I helped. And God bless you ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Braelyn Kirfman Same
Same! I love Sparrows... it really impacted me the first time I listened to it, and now it is like the music that plays in the back of my mind whenever I feel down. It is one of those you can't forget. Jason Gray is amazing at sending life-changing messages through song.
Love your heart for God
so delightful to hear. but gotta admit sparrows is gonna be my favorite always.
no matter what though - praise God always in every circumstance. i guess thats when life gets real- really tough and makes you want to give up a hundred thoudand times. i think He grins at those times and says I'm still here arent I? and I aint letting go. Get back up a hundred thousand times is the only choice left. Hallelujah!
I love this his songs
"You can recognise a real sinner, by the kindness in their eyes" gets me every time.
Zoe S same. It's so like, a good message is the best way to put it. There is no words to speak how that makes me feel

You are welcome Steven and I thank you as well for your encouraging message I love Jesus Christ with all my heart and I completely trust the outcome of my life as I progress in HIS will for me. Every day I increase in Faith as I walk with him. He holds my heart and I am submissive to his will. I pray his will be fulfilled in your life also and his glory magnified. GOD BLESS YOU.
Such a pretty song! Thank you Jason Gray!
Awesome song .
Steven Idicula, I love your comment!!! Step out when you are inspired...let the Holy Spirit guide you with songs. They do help us when we listen to the God inspired message. Write them with his direction, as I know in my spirit Jason did with the words of testimony and experience and most important, "Love" which is what all people need. Our spirits through discernment catch what we need in order to grow steadily in our spiritual growth. The Lord inspires us in many ways and it is through our submission that he is able to work and his Glory shown. Use that gift that the Lord has welled up in you. You may never know how many people you will help if u never take that step of faith. All we must do is trust and let the our Almighty God finish that which he has started. And I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that we all come to the fullness of surrender and be the vessels of God we were all created to be and to exalt Our Heavenly Father with our unique and individual gifts each of us possesses within ourselves. Your comment really penetrated my heart. Christ is with you in all things. He promised you that. God Bless You. I have faith to see and hear your outcome in the future, by Gods Grace it can be done. Thy Will Be Done!
Thank you so much for your kind words, it means so much to me that even though we don't know each other personally, we can strengthen and empower each other through Christ.
I am POSITIVE that God has something planned for you and your amazing messages Christie.
Steven -- you have many words of encouragement. Keep them flowing.
wait i thought switchfoot just did a song called "The Wound is Where the Light Shines Through"??
It was an unintentional similar release. Both are great. :)
Awesome way to put it.
This arrives right my hard times.
Thank you.
May God bless you and inspire you.

Jason Gray always has an awesome message in all of his songs. I love listening to him.
His song "I will rise again" is one that I listen to often. It is a very good song if you haven't really heard the words in it. It lifts me up for sure.
+Christie Stone I love Sparrows, Love Will have the Final Word and With Every Act of Love. They're just so positive and energising.
