Grateful Dead - The Music Never Stopped Lyrics
There's mosquitoes on the river Fish are rising up like birds
It's been hot for seven weeks now,
Too hot to even speak now, Did you hear what I just heard?
Say it might have been a fiddle or it could have been the wind
Listen here it comes again!
There's a band out on the highway, They're high steppin' into town
It's a rainbow full of sound, It's fireworks, calliopes and clowns
Everybody dancin' C'mon children, C'mon children, Come on clap your hands.
Sun went down in honey and the moon came up in wine,
You know stars were spinnin' dizzy, Lord
The band kept us too busy we forgot about the time.
People joining hand in hand While the music played the band, Lord
They're setting us on fire.
Crazy rooster crowin' midnight, Balls of lightin' roll along
Old men sing about their dreams, Women laugh and children scream
And the band keeps playin' on.
Keep on dancin' thru the daylight, Greet the mornin' air with song
No ones's noticed, but the band's all pack and gone. Was it ever there at all?
But they keep on dancin' C'mon children, C'mon children, Come on clap your hands
Well the cool breeze came on Tuesday, And the corn's a bumper crop
And the fields are full of dancin' Full of singin' and romancin'
The music never stopped.

One of those great Dead songs that you don't hear so often. Great groove and even has some nice sax.

Received guitar lessons from Bob Torres in Franklin, MA 0t038 in early
1990's. He went away. I was abducted and raped. my ssn was 7-7-7. Name's
Trevor. Reyes'd by a subsitute father, Wan Berg. I was extorted. They
built a babylon tower. Wasn't able to articulate the gravity of what
happened to me for a quarter century. They made sure I was damaged and
severely injured enough to utilize insurance that they could bite from.
They spelt a crypt. A crippled child. "You'd think something like that
would've had to have been kept in a vault." @t

“Because he let the entire world press upon him. For instance? Well, for instance, what it means to be a man. In a city. In a century. In transition. In a mass. Transformed by science. Under organized power. Subject to tremendous controls. In a condition caused by mechanization. After the late failure of radical hopes. In a society that was no community and devalued the person.Owing to the multiplied power of numbers which made the self negligible. Which spent military billions against foreign enemies but would not pay for order at home. Which permitted savagery and barbarism in its own great cities. At the same time, the pressure of human millions who have discovered what concerted efforts and thoughts can do.”
― Saul Bellow
The saxophone at the end always gives me that image of the GD animals marching away into the night playing their instruments ❤️ my favourite song ❤️

As much as I like Jerry, most of my favorite Dead tunes, with some notable exceptions, are Bobby tunes.
They would always kill this in concert. It was like they were on a mission to annilhilate disco, which had taken over music in the 70s. The Dead prevailed and the band plays on today.
Generalissimo Franco died, I got incarcerated in 2 nut houses in Morocco , thanks to my Dad I returned home and this Album came out. God works in wondrous ways his duties to perform.

Lyrics:
There's mosquitoes on the river.
Fish are rising up like birds.
It's been hot for seven weeks now,
Too hot to even speak now.
Did you hear what I just heard?
Say, it might have been a fiddle,
Or it could have been the wind.
But there seems to be a beat, now.
I can feel it in my feet, now.
Listen, here it comes again!
There's a band out on the highway.
They're high-steppin' into town.
They're a rainbow full of sound.
It's fireworks, calliopes and clowns --
Everybody's dancing.
Come on, children. Come on, children,
Come on clap your hands.
Sun went down in honey.
Moon came up in wine.
Stars were spinnin' dizzy,
Lord, the band kept us so busy
We forgot about the time.
They're a band beyond description
Like Jehovah's favorite choir.
People joinin' hand in hand
While the music plays the band.
Lord, they're setting us on fire.
Crazy rooster crowin' midnight.
Balls of lightning roll along.
Old men sing about their dreams.
Women laugh and children scream,
And the band keeps playin' on.
Keep on dancin' through to daylight.
Greet the morning air with song.
No one's noticed, but the band's all packed and gone.
Was it ever here at all?
But they keep on dancing.
C'mon, children. C'mon, children,
Come on clap your hands.
Well, the cool breeze came on Tuesday,
And the corn's a bumper crop.
The fields are full of dancing,
Full of singing and romancing,
'Cause the music never stopped.
The Dead always make me smile, smile, smile : )
This song reminds me of this passage of Shakespeare; literate and smart as these guys were, I have no doubt they drew on it for inspiration:
"Where should this music be? I' th' air or th' earth?
It sounds no more, and sure, it waits upon
Some god o' th' island. Sitting on a bank,
Weeping again the king my father’s wrack,
This music crept by me upon the waters,
Allaying both their fury and my passion
With its sweet air. Thence I have followed it,
Or it hath drawn me rather. But ’tis gone.
No, it begins again."
Ferdinand, "The Tempest," Act. 1, Scene 2
Sun went down in honey
And the moon came up in wine
you know the stars were spinnin dizzy
Lord the band kept us so busy
We forgot about the time
Two of them went to my high school.
Great is Grateful Dead
This song always takes me back to the hot Georgia summer nights. Some cold beers and some smoke. Good times.
