Grateful Dead - Slipknot! Lyrics
Beautiful lie
You can pray
You can pay
Till you're buried alive
Everyone in the room
Owns a part of the noose
Slipknot gig
Slipknot gig
Slipknot gig
Did someone say
Help on the way
Well, I know
Yeah, I do

bullshit album play. do not watch.
The end is always my favorite part of the song. So smooth and crispy transition.
Grateful Dead at the Irvine Meadows amphitheatre 1984 high school good memories.
When my friends ask me to play something besides the Grateful Dead, I play the Jerry Garcia Band 😂
Wow, thus is unbelievable, I've never heard them play this well before.
jeewhiz huh
Jah loves!!!
Pure genius ~ soo glad my oldest bro introduced this music to me
Some of my favorite Dead licks ever! <3
Found this album in a stack of vinyls in 2003 in high school. Turned it on my record player and faded away. Amazing
RIP Robert Hunter
Sweet Jesus, I love this song. (~);-}
When Jerry Garcia and Phil Lesh start that interplay about 6:10... that is magic.
This is probably their best studio moment.

The first time I saw the Dead, I just got home. Discharged from the Navy on Treasure Island, July 1967. Wandered into Golden Gate Park and there was the Dead, Big Brother, Country Joe, Quicksilver,....oh man I was in heaven
My 2nd favorite song by this band aside from Althea.
0:48 you can hear him hit an E and Eflat at the same time, maybe by mistake, but god is it crunchy and funky and so perfect
Il y a du sabotage dans l'air...
Thou Shalt not separate Slipknot from Franklin's Tower!
What a masterpiece, man.
Such an awesome intro track
The ultimate hot summer night album
The real fun is seeing all the boomers talking about getting high to this song in the comments
for me , the best song of the band.
This song, up until the instrumental section, is like a funky Bob Dylan song. Just put the lyrics over an acoustic and harmonica and it would fit.
Jerry was a master on the guitar... RIP Jerr Bear
LSD family fluff for life
the grateful dead's disco album. actually shakedown street was discoey too
The best song after a fornication sesh!! Honey its youuuuuu!!!! XD
The first song I could play to
Lesh's favorite Dead album. Mine too...
Without love in the dream it will never come true...
Paradise waits
On the crest of a wave
Her angels in flame
She has no pain
Like a child, she is pure
She is not to blame
Poised for flight
Wings spread bright
Spring from night
Into the sun
Don't stop to run
She can fly like a lie
She cannot be outdone
Tell me the cost
I can pay
Let me go
Tell me love is not lost
Sell everything
Without love, day to day,
Insanity is king
I will pay
Day by day
Anyway
Lock, bolt and key
Crippled but free
I was blind
All the time
I was learning to see
Help on the way
I know only this
I've got you today
Don't fly away
'Cause I love what I love
And I want it that way
I will stay
One more day
Like I say
Honey, it's you
Without love in the dream
It will never come true
Paradise waits on a crest of a wave 🌊 As a surfer, I can’t help but imagine this literally, as in a ‘floater’ is paradise.
When a wave is breaking and beginning to curl, you pop up and ride on the top of the barreling crest, which is called a floater. Floaters do feel amazing, sorta like paradise.
alextheskaterdude07 Shaka bro me too!
Mr. Garcia was quite the poet
Robert Hunter was the lyric writer
The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
he stretches out the heavens like a tent
and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds his messengers, and
flames of fire his servants. Psalm 104
Seriously, I just can't get enough of this. This and Althea. Everytime I listen to these feels like the first time, they're fucking delicious songs!! Tasty. Right now it's 00:30 and I'm lying down on my couch, lights off, with decent headphones and some good weed. What a great thursday night.
Much love for everyone reading this!
God Bless America!
You've just got to listen to this album when you are tripping. Awesome.
Probably my all-time favourite band. This music is from another dimension. When I die I want to go to that dimension.
Why did they call the album blues for Allah. That's the word Muslims use for God. The most horrible religion of all why would they associate with anything as backwards as Islamic ideology, makes me sick.
Aww u poor thing...
You don’t have to understand, just listen.
Awersome
That's is the word arabic speakers use for god, be they muslim, christian or jew. Honestly, you ain't fit in the head bro
the dead never gave a shit about religion or politics, they just sang their songs
honestly I never stanned this band, but after listening to this song I'm definitely understanding more and more why people do. gorgeous track
Grate Stuff: I wonder are the original band members still alive and kickin' Would be cool to hang out on Beale St. some time and dip those toes in the Mississippi
You can see Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann in Dead & Company, and Phil Lesh is always up to something. I love Beale St. and Memphis in May!! Good memories.
Paradise waits 😄
Always loved this song & album, perhaps their most progressive & jazzy offering. Of course they were generally better live.
My band played this from 1988 - 1992 live, at least 100 times. Of course that's nothing to how many times these guys played it..
Great song! This is like the one time they did psychedelia again after Aoxomoxoa.
These guys could play!
Did the band Slipknot name themselves for this song?
this image was just banned on my Facebook timeline. I think. I complained after receiving a note from the Facebook Police. They would not reveal what community standard I had broken. the image was the only thing missing. so iposted it several times, speculating on a similar sensitivity to Buddhist imagery in Thailand. I have no confirmation on a decison re: my complaint - it's always like this '

Timeless classic
aditi, "paradise waits on the crest of a wave." i will feel your lovely smile on the other side.
It's not the whole album.
im a newbie as far as the deads go.love this album.30 years behind the times i maybe but im right there now
1:38 "yeaah"
Best cover art of any GD record. I had a college friend who didn't even like the Dead, but he still had a BLUES FOR ALLAH
poster in his dorm room!
Peter Smernoff similar story. Knew a guy who was not a head by any stretch and this was his only dead CD, and he cherished it. I borrowed it and he remembered to ask for it back when he was moving lol
Point?*
This song itself is a trip, wow
just heard althea looking for another someone recommended. this one an old favorite
Thank you!
Strangely somewhat unheard of in the UK
Turns me into liquid
if there ever WAS to be a disk set named [the very best of the grateful dead] it would be a minimum of three disks, have weather report suite and lost sailor/saint of circumstance. i am not surprised that terrapin got on this and, yes, wait for it.. help on the way/slipknot! It still should have been named "remasters." for a band with such a vast amount of studio material to choose from. I would have made it a four disk box set named "valley of the dead" with a VAGUE chronological song arrangement where the whole package begins with the unbelievable anthem of the sun. with fun easter eggs in there like VB [five B,] from the seastones project issued by Round Records. Jefferson Airplane has a Levi's white jeans commercial that they did. VB is some really intense shit.
41 Dustin beaver fans........,,not tribe members jajaja its the Dead man...RAYBANN Austin Texas
Without love in the dream itll never come true
Mood elevated ✨
One of their best jams and I would say this song goes unnoticed a lot
PhilFo22 it did for me. I've been KINDA heavy into the dead for about 6 months. Just found this gem. Always heard of it. Just never listened. To many other songs had my attention. Peace
Listen to that fucking guitar...
The best Dead album, musically without a doubt......who can argue?
Recorded in bobs house. He had a decent studio set up. I saw that on the documentary 'long strange trip' kinda interesting.
Musically, I cant argue with that. But there were better songs and harmonies on American Beauty.
I think so
the first album is great, too.
Well, this track is amazing...
This song is why I am a Deadhead
@Mike MakesRight Hitting up two shows this summer. My first ever dead related gigs!
Jack straw for me but this is a goodie
@Cody Barker yo where at im nyc,Connecticut bound lmk pls
one of the best songs they ever did imho
@Eric Albrecht I was at the MSG opening night. Sorry, man I caught your comment late. Hopefully I'll catch ya next summer. I'm trying for a couple nights in Mexico, but not sure yet.
My favorite song of all time, and the Dead's best studio performance by a mile.
Gunther Toody You going to any D&C shows or you couch touring?
Gunther Toody Sadly, I've never seen anything live dead related. I'm only 25, but I'm couch touring the West coast starting tonight, then going to my first show in Cleveland and both Wrigley shows. Very excited.
I agree totally. After Brent died it seemed like they packed it in.
Gunther Toody Thanks, man. Enjoy tonight, and the rest of the tour. Hope I do too, but if they don't, no biggie. I'll still have a great time.
Estimated Prophet
how can you know the best album, to many to pick from !
Jerry Jerry Jerry Forever Brah Raybann Austin Texas
I saw Ratdog at La Zona Rosa , late 90's ... nice melting vibe
I have the vinyl for this album
The "falling out of reality" part in slipknot is crazy
im hard
I love this album.
Me also.
no weed needed no more, the message was and is clear. SEED
It was 7 years ago. I smoked weed everyday. And this album played in my ears 24/7. This brings me back to a point of time I cannot even comprehend. Blessings to you all.
@CoolGuy 2018 oh wow you put spaces in between all your letters. That is so original. Can we be cool like you?
Ace Rothstein To answer your question, unfortunately no. You will never be as cool as me. You are stuck being littlebitchguy2019.
Haha smoking weed everyday. I loved that life. First bowl in the morning!
I took a dab the other day and couldn’t breath, poured sweat, and had a 3 hour terrible pure suffering ”psychedelic neuropathy phantom pain type deal” is the only way I can describe it. Straight up bad trip to hell , worse than any bad trip from Lys, Psil, or Dim.
Should’ve listened to this song!
Haha ACE😂 I wish I could be like that cool cat! Assuming he was being facetious and not sarcastic.
@CoolGuy 2018 You're an absolute fruit who has nothing better to do with his time than try and rip on people who don't still live in their parents basement fondling with a battle simulator
Crippled but free, I was blind all the time, I was learning to see
Did you come up with that yourself
Srijan Banjara nice dude, blind but not really,he sees ribbons ,yeeahhh
Keith You’re not literally blind are You? Or did you mean metaphorically?
@alextheskaterdude07 literally. just a sliver of vision.
This album and a nice bowl was my pre high school tennis match routine
Surprised Osama didn't bomb there tour bus because of the album title
Frank Irons don't you mean the wave of Bush doing 9/11?
Blues for god isnt very inflammatory
@motorcitymangababe Thank you
- Your neighborhood Muslim
@Abdullah Carroll np. I will never understand the cognitive dissonance over allah being a name translation and not being a different deity.
Blues for Allah has something to do with the death of King Faisel of Saudia Arabia
Elija Muhammad died 2 days before the Dead began to record this album. That is Farrakhan with glasses playing the violin.
That's Uncle Sam, ya meathead.
This IS a great album!
My favorite Dead album ever although I know many would argue that it wasn't their best. Best cover art for sure!!! I had the pleasure of seeing them 3 times in the 70's. One time sticks out in my memory...Oakland Colosseum, opening for the Who. They played for maybe three hours straight. One song, I was on LSD and it was magic.
Matt Burke hahaha, got it!
hey, i was at that same show. i believe it was called east vs west
that's so awesome, cheers brother!
Only one song. lol. It must have been a long night. 😜
