Grateful Dead - Loser Lyrics

If I had a gun for every ace that I had drawn
I could arm a town the size of Abilene
Don't you push me baby, 'cause I'm moaning low
And you know I'm only in it for the gold

All that I am asking for is ten gold dollars
And I could pay you back with one good hand
You can look around about the wide world over
And you'll never find another honest man

Last fair deal in the country
Last fair deal in the town
Put your gold money where your love is baby
Before you let my deal go down

Don't you push me baby, 'cause I'm moaning low
Well I know a little something you won't ever know
Don't you touch hard liquor, just a cup of cold coffee
Gonna get up in the morning and go

Everybody's bragging and drinking that wine
I can tell the Queen of Diamonds by the way she shines
Come to daddy on an inside straight
Well I got no chance of losing this time

Last fair deal in the country
Last fair deal in the town
Put your gold money where your love is baby
Before you let my deal go down

Everybody's bragging and drinking that wine
I can tell the Queen of Diamonds by the way she shines
Come to daddy on an inside straight
Well I got no chance of losing this time
Well I got no chance of losing this time
Well I got no chance of losing this time ...

  26. J.... C....

Best version of this song I ever heard was a mid 80's version from Chicago. Think it was '85. Btw, I was at this show.

  27. p.... W....

Look at the size of the crowd...The guitar solo by Jerry is unmatched to say the least. No computer help just pure talent. The millinials have no clue to what good pure music talent is.

Guys would slow do we n ,they have given us enough, I wish they would take time off ,and enjoy life, as nd that documentary, making deadbeats looking like morons, like we were gonna kill ourselves because Jerry passed. We're not nirvana fans!! We thought Jerry was God , give me a break!

  40. J.... V....

    Does anyone, think dead&company suck!!

  43. B.... B....

My buddy told me, I'll meet you by the "Rocky" statue, I'll be the guy with long hair and a tye-dye shirt. No lie, I went to the statue, and turned around and there he was. I stopped questioning what was guiding my life.

  44. R.... R....

  45. P.... S....

    Wow! <3 that song...

  46. J.... S....

  72. R.... D....

Good quote. Means nothing specific. I just want my family back( son and his mother), while keeping my freedom, my job, and my right to protest an unjust international economic order.

  73. R.... D....

"Why don't you put your money where my love is,before you let this deal go down."

  74. M.... H....

no but I drank the " joy juice" 1979 Giants stadium meadowlands in Jersey new riders, walon n Willie, n the Dead for 5 hours I was pasted to my seat it took the Dead an hour to tune up but then they played the shit out of that sold out show!

  75. T.... ....

Chills... I was at this, so perhaps I'm biased, but this is my all-time favorite Loser. Tiger's tone is nothing short of sublime.

    M.... L....

Honey they aren't praying, the degenerate gamblers are "bragging" and of course drinking wine. and Donald was right about the Moanin' low lyric. There is an official Grateful Dead lyric book, written by David Dodd. You will like it. It's called The Complete Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics. I refer to it often.

    M.... L....

east cost shows were crazy especially philly spectrum and jfk stadium..remember the roundup there and the stones once 80's

  85. B.... E....

I was there and remember the stadium was a dump but, a great vibe and one helluva fun night till the morning come.

    B.... E....

That was the last performance in that venue. I was hoping for Brokedown palace Encore. Still a remarkable show.

  86. B.... I....

Great show! The night they shut down JFK. Remember it well.

  87. L.... K....

    Great Set

  88. M.... W....

Hot show! Folks couldn't beat the heat!

  89. J.... W....

Never got to see Jerry. This is one of my favorite dead tunes. Rockin version. I love the Brent era.

  90. J.... F....

As a tour veteran who was blessed enough to have seen the Grateful Dead over 300 times going all the way back to 1969, I remember vividly how the band entered a special zone starting in Spring 1989 that went through till 1991. What a time to be a Deadhead. This version of LOSER is totally sublime!

    J.... F....

Agreed! Thank god I was seeing them during this period. I always feel a bit melancholy when trying to convey what the experience was like. Words often, if not always, fail. It was so beautiful, rocking, frightening, delicate, earth shattering, and so much more! I only saw them about 50 times, but the lions share was between 87-91 so I caught my share of epic shows. God bless the Grateful Dead!

Glad you were able to catch their last great years.

    J.... F....

Jeff Felderman : I caught some brilliance at alpine in 88. I graduated high school in 86....I missed a lot of the great years(77-78) but the late 80's early 90's were a great period. Sure, success hurt the scene...by unavoidable chronology I missed out on the pre-top 10 glory days. Doesn't mean the scene meant any less to us!

    J.... F....

Excellent recommendations my good friend. Thank you. This is a monumental day for me. I was only awoken to the real brilliance of the late 80s Era a few hours ago. I don't think I can ever go back. Holy Shit.

  91. b.... h....

Jerry kills it ! I know a little something you'll never know ! I love those grins ....
