Grass Roots, The - Monday Love Lyrics

My Monday love
Sittin 'round by the fireside
Till mornin' comes
She smiles and I feel alright
Lord, what a night I had with Monday love

It's a groovy day
I never saw the sun quite that way
It's a ball of fire
Lifts me up and takes me higher
If only one desire – for my Monday love

Look at me
I'm taller than I oughtta be
Got this warm inside of me
And I've got to say
Lord, nothin' can take me away...

From my Monday, Monday, my Monday lover
She's the one that I've been thinkin' of her
My Monday, Monday, my Monday lover
She's the one that I've been dreamin' of

Look at me
I'm taller than I oughtta be
Got this warm inside of me
And I've got to say
Lord, nothin' can take me away...

From my Monday, Monday, my Monday lover
She's the one that I've been thinkin' of her
My Monday, Monday, my Monday lover
She's the one that I've been dreamin' of her

My Monday, Monday, my Monday lover
She's the one that I've been thinkin' of
My Monday, Monday, my Monday lover...

When Rob died I was lucky enough to be invited as a fan to his memorial service given by his wife. It was a beautiful service with everything perfect except for one thing... Rob wasn't there I will never forget being at that service and honoring him for the man that he was and the talent that He was

    Every song is fantastic!

The Grass Roots were the first pop band (out of so many) that I liked (before I discovered the Moody Blues, Yes, and Heart). Rob either must've had a terrific wife, or he saw fit to honor the kind of good woman men gladly go to work for on Monday morning. Great song anyday.

Karen Manemeit I agree! I’m listening again to this song wearing my earbuds. What a strong voice. Overall, a great song!

My dad had this on cassette and 8-track in the 70's. I wore out the cassette tape in my '93 4Runner in '01 and the 8-track died in the deck in 2002. Took 12 years until I heard it again on YouTube. I've never seen this track on CD.

+Adam Wilkins There's a double cd import out there, but getting kind of scarce. I saw one on Amazon, another on the Tower Records site. Do a search of 'Move Along / Alotta Mileage import cd'. :)

    A.... W....

+60s70sVintageRock I'll look for that and the rare, super expensive anthology set that came out before the '96 Greatest Hits.

    @Adam Wilkins
I used to burn a lot of hard-to-find cd's (80's & 90's) from local libraries.  Don't know if many of them are still out there anymore.  That's how I found the Rhino compilation that is so $$ now, but this was at least 10 yrs. ago.  Good luck!

Rob Grill was a big inspiration to me musically. I was so impressed by the Grass Roots, my first favorite band, that I began playing guitar and soon joining a band by age 14. Rock on Rob!!! Peter Brehm

One of my favorite Grass Roots albums.. can't say "CD" because as far as I know it's never been released on CD......

    S.... K....

It was released as an import double cd with 'Alotta Mileage,' however it's probably a vinyl transfer.  I bought it some time ago, not many left now.  On Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/ALONG-ALOTTA-MILEAGE-Grass-Roots/dp/B001G0HJJS.  Also check the Gemm site, I saw one there (a good site for hard to find music!)

Thanks - great info.  I will do that.

  14. G.... L....

Rob had an awesome voice, and it's proven in this song.

    G.... L....

    What a great band

  15. R.... ....

The "Move Along" album is a lost classic. The production, the songs and the performance is the best. I wish it was available on CD. There are versions being sold that as far as I can tell are vinyl transfers but no original master tape transfers. Too bad.
