If the songs that were released as singles from this album had not been played on the secular radio station I was listening to at that time i would not have known about Amy Grant and her music and she was the first concert me and my husband went to.

I felt betrayed by her, like many young Christians. Her Christian record albums were my Christmas present every year, year by year, until she went secular and I was let down, to put it lightly. Now, reading your comment, I was mistaken.

Love the music and Amy's voice. I don't consider it a religious song even though it may be. More reggae in beat.

Back in 1985 I was a little buggered up and ended up the General Hospital psyche ward. Another patient named Marnelle gave me her cassette of this album, I must have had my Sony Walkman with me because I listened to it since then I didn't even know who Amy was. I guess it helped a bit. Thanks Marnelle and Amy. :-)

When this song was on the radio, as I remember, she was punching out the words harder and more sensual. I let my mother hear it and she commented, it sounded like a religious song. I hadn't thought of it that way (it was too sexy) but I replied, "It is."

She is one of the premier artists of the 80's into the 90's, nevermind her religious affiliations. Doesn't matter. Exquisite music!

Is that a Christian song .

This is a song by a Christian artist.  Only Christians might consider this a "christian song".  In the lyrics the word "You" is always capitalized indicating that she's singing about God.  The album this song came from was "Unguarded" and this was clearly a crossover attempt on Amy's part to appeal to non-christians as well as christians and God isn't mentioned in any of the songs.  Either way, I've always liked the song.

Doesn't matter to me. It is a beautiful song and that's why I listen to it. Been listening since early 80s.

Actually Amy Grant herself describes it as her own version of Psalm 139. This song did a number on me in my Sophomore year of college.

Every time I hear this, I have the same memory. I went to a concert in Nashville at Starwood in March of 1987. I fell in love for the first time in my life that night. I exchanged looks and smiles the whole concert with a beautiful half/asian, half/American girl in the row in front of me there with her sister and mother. I never got her name, because I was too shy, but always said if I ever saw her again, I wouldn't make the same mistake. I'm now 42, and still think of her occasionally :)
