Grand Funk Railroad - T.N.U.C. Lyrics
You ain't gonna find me
Knockin' at your door
I've known forever
You don't love me no more
With your mouth shut tight
I'm gettin' myself together
Yes, I'm leavin' tonight, baby
You ain't gonna find nobody
To treat you like I do
I bend down on my knees
You treat me like a fool, baby
Now I know what you're tryin' to do
'Cause I just done got hip to you
I'm gonna walk out laughin', baby

Don going NUTS on the drums!
Seeing them again tonight in Annapolis - first time was around 1970-1971 in NH. Loved them ever since.
Yapo Anton aplicale al pentagrama del 14
Don Brewer is such an asshole for bastardizing the GFR legacy, but he plays circles around the so called GREAT drummers
Who's idea was it to isolate the drum solo to the left channel?
wasted four minutes on a drum solo.
La banda que revolución a la juventud Piura en los 70,grandes recuerdos San Miguel
Thinly veiled. Great work of the period. I was 18 boys & girls. This is my music.
TNUC is CUNT backwards
This drum ha e a especial sound, The bass too, is a cavern sound, but now sonarán así?
Anybody know what T.N.U.C. stands for ?
Seriously? Have you tried spelling it backwards?
My favorite band! How about a reunion concert? Put away your differences just for a few shows.!
First group that I bought ALL the records. Love 'em! Well, I did have all The Lettermen's records, too, that kind of exposes my age.
Live version is better, They were a garage band!
A very clever way to call a girl a cunt on a song title
What is the meaning of T.N.U.C?
It means Cunt
I love the 7#9 chord!
Faster than Bonham
My fascination with heavy metal started with these dudes, and Zeppelin, and Mountain, and Cream.
What a dumb-ass I am...ever since this came out (1969) I thought TNUC was some university !
😎. 2018
Whewww, that drum solo was damn near the whole song....
You ain't gonna find me
Knockin' at your door
I've known forever
You don't love me no more
You don't want to stay there
With your mouth shut tight
I'm gettin' myself together
Yes, I'm leavin' tonight, baby
You ain't gonna find nobody
To treat you like I do
I bend down on my knees
You treat me like a fool, baby
Now I know what you're tryin' to do
It ain't gonna happen
'Cause I just done got hip to you
I'm gonna walk out laughin', baby
Mark Farner and The Backstabbers..
Unfortunately
omg the drum solo!!! Wish I could see him playing it !!! Machine guns are slower!
it's all triplets..right, left, kick, repeat. not a lot of skill, just practice to make it all sound even.. which takes patience. big ups to db.
good drum solo
good drum solo

TNUC great song to me it's funk.

WOW three artist playing outstanding music ??? What the HELL happened ?? Parents couldn't pay for music lessons?
WHY ISNT GFR IN THE HALL?? PLEASE TELL ME!!
jann wenner (rolling stone editor and gatekeeper to the rock and roll hall of fame). somewhere down the line gfr pissed him off.
Black Sabbath and a few others band's had the ball's to do a show with GRAND FUNK. The Stones did not want GFR to tour with them. They knew they did not BS.
Yea !!!
Bad-Ace song.
See you in tea!
Leave it to a 20 year old to come up with a song called c n u t
You mean tnuc
Their early sound was straight up raw, they self destructed going commercial. When the hits stopped so did they.
hey, it was the early 70s. they flowed with that. get over it.
best drum solo in rock history
And Don's solo was much better live. Watching him throw his head onto the snair drum and hitting the bass drum at the same time was awesome!
Grand Funk, if they're not in the Rock Hall of Fame, they should be!!!!!
Thank God for big Brothers !!
I notice the studio songs actually sound kind of "weak" compared to the "Live Album" versions.
some bands excel on stage (gfr), some in the studio and never on stage live (lz)
~jmho~
Lana T'Nuc is a great band that must've taken a cue from Grand Funk.
Anal cunt? Gotta check them out hahaha
Best band ever! Way ahead of their time,
Зело борзо!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great song
What does tnuc stand for? Anyone?
Rock21 Holy mother of god, you're right. It's been right in front of me all these years. Thanks!
Grand Funk, Deep Purple, Steppenwolfe, Crowbar....Chilliwack....good sounds!
We blew up speakers and Amplifiers listing to this song,.... aboard Ship (AD38) in 1972. It was just like this ... Great GFR you hear now.
if you heard g.f.r. back in the day and didnt love this shit. your lp speed must have been set to 45 or 78. and if try it now and still dont love this shit . well fuck off ha ha only kidding but go kill your self .thats the problem with this world the gene pool is polluted. h a ha just kidding well not really
Saw them in Hershey park arena on their 1975 world tour.
OMG! I could barely sit through the drum solo. Could not wait till it was over! Ugh!
They don't do the extended drum interludes any more but they dont have Don Brewers either. TNUC spelled backwords is what its about.
Yes. Some say it's cunt spelled backwards, but is it really? Of course personally I don't really care, but, i'd still like to know, exactly what tnuc means.
@Brian Colon , in several interviews over the years, when asked about the title, both Mark and Don have replied, "well, you know, boys will be boys"! The lyrics refer to a former girlfriend, but they woudn't have been able to title the song as C.U.N.T. due to obscenity laws at that time, thus the reverse spelling. It's all about a relationship gone bad.
Some band should record about her.... Oh... They did years ago! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A12GettHK6Y
TNUC - If I were an Arab or Jewish, I would read this the right way - especially listening to the words TNUC
I bought this album in my youth and I could never listen to this song complettly because there was a defect on the record.
My favorite GFR album!
Bass and drum work is out of this world.
Totally mesmerized me when I first heard it and kinda compared it to "Rare Earth - Get Ready". So many great memories from this tune alone.
I seen them open for Sly and The Family Stone at Madison Square Garden. They were awesome.
terrific drums solo
No doubt! Check it!
One of the greatest rock bands ever-period!! And to think they were just a 3 piece band until Craig Frost joined them. Rock and Roll Hall of Shame!!
Great band!
Fucking awesome
great musicians
GFR was my first concert, Atlanta Stadium 1971. (Black Oak Arkansas opened for them). Also my first acid trip (purple microdot). It will be burned in my memory forever.
Les Lonsdale - I was too young to see them live but your reference to purple microdot made me smile. We had so much fun tripping. Thanks for that memory man. And GFR FOREVER
Irene last I heard from gfr was when day came out with locomotion yes a dance tune why it reminds me of my Spanish dancer you. !???!
1 more thing!!!!!! their version of "gimme shelter" was,is,and still better then the stones!
I liked it better.
all that sound coming from 3 men, and on top of that, each 1 of the 3 in my mind were at the top 10 in the world in their respected fields!!! lead guitarist, drummer, bassist!!!!!
No doubt - all three were fantastic musicians who for some reason ran afoul of the critics. Mel Schacher in particular was heavily influenced by jazz. He was recruited from the band Question Mark and the Mysterians! I played the first three albums until the grooves bled through to the other side!
@Ultrametric - I still have this GEM of an album somewhere in my garage. I hope it hasn't warped yet from the summer heat. LOL
A true power trio
And we all know what TNUC spells backwards.
Saw them in '69 at their second national appearance --> Texas International Pop Festival just after Atlanta Pop Festival. They
introduced this song, "This song is named T.N.U.C. - spellitbackward!" I had just turned 15 and someone had to explain it to me, lol!
As shitty now as it was then.
Hey keyboard warrior , Neil Diamond? The Carpenters? Maybe this song was written for you!
Then go listen to lady gaga Jaaaan
Jan Kafka - go do something nice and fuck off...
Jan Kafka
Why do you feel this way about GFR?
so then this song is for you, enjoy
Just saw them last week in Jackson, Ca. Don still hammers the shit out of that solo!!! They still put on 1 hell of a show, had that place ROCKIN.
great solo....
WHEN I SAID FARNERS LICKS I MEANT ON THE GUITAR!!
Sure ya did
HOW ABOUT FARNERS LICKS?
Nobody rocks out like Grand Funk.
Back in the day, every 16 year old learning to play the drums learned to play this solo.
Not all of them
@Dennis Rivenburg The ones who got good did. : )
!!!оххххххуенннно!!!
best funk album. discuss.
keymaster 88 I say Red Album
I say first six albums but the first three are the best.
Live Album, CTH & E Pluribus for me.
Closer To Home at the first place, but Red Album and Live Album are excellent too!
c. n. u. t. was a time when that was OK. now? who knows. me. i have always liked it.
Wait, WHAT ???
this kicks so much ass
baaskaT brian colon, yes, don brewer, Keith moon, & ginger baker, are about the all best time drumers.🙂
My fav drum solo of all time
mono wtf
Tap it out funky dawg
T.=Thinking N.=Not U.=Understood C.=Completely. (and reversed) C.=Can't U.=Understand N.=Normal T.=Thinking.
@Denny Mcfastlane ,could be,back in the time, this was said to be spelled backwards...didnt make a lotta sense...especially since i loved their music....0
@willplay22 The backwards spelling was done obviously because of 60's censorship. The story Mark told me is the song was about some girl he dated and where it went really wrong. GFR couldn't use C.U.N.T., but everyone figured it out pretty damn quick, and the real meaning still got across. Plus, it was imaginative also. Mark also stated that a lot of this had to do with the Beatles 'Paul is Dead' Hype. Which by the way, that whole Dead McCartney thing initially was picked up by a local DJ around Ann Arbor,Michigan. As far as the Letter breakdown, the TNUC is something i made up, but CUNT has always been that breakdown of individual letters.
+Denny Mcfastlane I Always Thought It Stood For, "Take No Unnecessary Chances"!
+Wayne Danberry *Hello Wayne, never heard of that one before.
listen those bass lines! Eargasm
+Ron Port The great Mel Schacher my friend.
aka Drum Solo, The Song
I can never get enough of this original shit right here! Spinning my copy.......Peace and Rock On!
Friday Music!!!!
Greg Kelley u
The studio version of this song was good, but this song was made for LIVE performance !
I like this song, but I've never been a fan of long drum solos...very self-indulgent.
Check out Iron Butterfly In a godda da vida
@Warren Johnson Ever heard of Moby Dick by Led Zeppelin? Is John Bonham's work there self indulgent? I think not.............
drummers deserve a turn too
Real bands, real music, wow what a time.
BRUTAL!!!
they showed their cards on this one, and upped the ante on the red album! Mel rules, Don's a precision madman, and Mark does it right everytime. never mind the shitty mix. listen to the live album and the red album, you'll hear the difference.
Spell the name back words and listen to the words. It sound like he is describing what he thinks is a creature that rhymes with bunt. Ooooh, behave! I love Don Brewer's work on this tune.
It took me a few years to figure out what T.N.U.C. really stood for back in the day..............lol. But the name and lyrics FIT...........lol
@Solar Landlord
If you were around back in the day yo would have known right away, lol
I was in 6th or 7th grade when this album was released, so at that time I had NO life experiences with women and thus no concept of what a TNUC could be.
I was a few years ahead of you and the meaning was clear. Innocents lost.
LOL replies to Bryan a year later.... its backwards for "C"ant "U"nderstand "N"ormal "T"hought.
yea, we all had that figured out in 1969
do anybody knows what the TNUC stands for?
spell it backwards
I'd love to know.
Recorded before drummers used metronomes, I guess.
Eu amo esses caras.
I love this guys.
