Gram Parsons - I Just Can't Take It Anymore Lyrics

I've been thinkin' back on it, babe
I guess it's been useless after all
I'm tired of seein' all the days going by
Tearin' the numbers off my wall

You've been taking up my time and steppin' out-a line
And breakin' up the dreams I had before
And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore

You said once before you were lookin' for a friend
Who'd take the time to really get to know you
But you wanted me to kneel and forgot that I was real
And I guess I'm not per chance that far below you

You've been shakin' up my bed and breaking up my head
So I'm wakin' up an turning in my score
And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore

And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore

It's a bit odd how this is the only Parsons version of this song available these days. There's a much better sounding full band jangly version that he did with The International Submarine Band in 1965/66. It came out on a deleted late 90s various artists comp called "Fallen Angels" but I can't find it to download anywhere.

  7. D.... ....

I for one digs Evans version, but Gram is still a stunner...

    D.... ....

Evans version is immense as well

It was recorded at Jim Carlton's house. Although I don't know for sure, I'm fairly certain it was just set up in the living room and done as-is. They didn't have anything but an old reel-to-reel two track, as far as I understand it. My father knows Jim, and that's about what I got out of the questions I had at the time we were discussing the record this come from.

Of course it is - I did it cause at least it's not too good to even try - rare for gram .. yeah "sounds so strange without a groove " The only real point to a covers record is so more people might go and seek out the ORIGINALS !
