Gram Parsons - I Just Can't Take It Anymore Lyrics
I've been thinkin' back on it, babe
I guess it's been useless after all
I'm tired of seein' all the days going by
Tearin' the numbers off my wall
And breakin' up the dreams I had before
And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore
You said once before you were lookin' for a friend
Who'd take the time to really get to know you
But you wanted me to kneel and forgot that I was real
And I guess I'm not per chance that far below you
You've been shakin' up my bed and breaking up my head
And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore
And I just can't make it anymore
No, I just won't take it anymore

He wrote this. Wow!
so talented
I discovered Gram 25 years ago and he still blows my mind. Love you, brother Gram!
i still have the sundazed cd with this and several other tape-recordings it's one of the most influential stuff ive Heard
Sounds more balanced with headphones. Beautiful song...
It's a bit odd how this is the only Parsons version of this song available these days. There's a much better sounding full band jangly version that he did with The International Submarine Band in 1965/66. It came out on a deleted late 90s various artists comp called "Fallen Angels" but I can't find it to download anywhere.
I for one digs Evans version, but Gram is still a stunner...
Evans version is immense as well
It was recorded at Jim Carlton's house. Although I don't know for sure, I'm fairly certain it was just set up in the living room and done as-is. They didn't have anything but an old reel-to-reel two track, as far as I understand it. My father knows Jim, and that's about what I got out of the questions I had at the time we were discussing the record this come from.
Best break up song ever
who mixed this ? The guitar overpowers Gram's voice..
nobody mixed it..it is recorded on a reel to reel tape recorder
Thanks for sharing...love it and love Gram!!
luv u 4 this. real talk homeboy
Once a day till I get my strength back
@cjwalsh91 absolutely, he was the best.
Rare for me not to have heard. I thought I had heard all of Grams stuff. Thanks for posting.
Is he playing a twelve string here?
Great song I had actually forgotten about. Thanks!
Reminds me of "Chimes Of Freedom" The Byrds, Dylan.....can't beat this sound in my book.
Oh Gram's being modest, it certainly has a groove....him.
That is what I have done. Brass Buttons is what got me searching ....thanks!
This is wonderful as is Evan's version.I'd never heard this til the Lemonheads covered it- so big thanks pelicanmouse!
mission accomplished.
Of course it is - I did it cause at least it's not too good to even try - rare for gram .. yeah "sounds so strange without a groove " The only real point to a covers record is so more people might go and seek out the ORIGINALS !
u r very welcome bobbankdai--it puts a smile on my face too--every single day
Klarissimus - thanks for putting this up - brilliant !! What a talent - puts a smile on my face xx
can't stop listening it myself--it's better than the lemonheads version
