I was so happy to have a song with my state named. But after hearing the backstory to this song, I feel like a heel.
Anyhow, with that known, I finally felt the spirit with which you wrote this. I like this lyric: _"I used to love the colors Autumn painted in the trees"_. It shows how the nice, little things we appreciate can drastically change when our perspective changes due to death of a loved one.
Again, I am sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to express it through your music. I hope you are getting better day by day, month by month, year by year.

So sad ... but such a beautiful song. It's from the heart .. that is how Anna writes is from the heart. I love that about her. I'm living in California too, and grew up right near a River Road! I thought it looked familiar. Lots of grapes on one side and oak trees on the other.
