Grace Potter And The Nocturnals - White Rabbit Lyrics

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
To call Alice, when she was just small

When the men on the chessboard get up
And tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving slow
Go ask Alice, I think she will know

When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the red queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head, feed your head

Grace Potter And The Nocturnals White Rabbit Comments
  1. S.... v....

Really liked this, good riddance to that annoying snare drum. Great vocals. Nothing against this Grace , but would love to hear the other Grace's vocals against this backing track.

  2. r.... s....

Soooo, 161 people thought so little of this performance that they actually hit the thumbs down? I'm sorry for you, this woman is simply awesome. I'm just amazed she isn't everywhere, given her talent, writing ability, playing ability, & looks, damn. It's kinda irritating.

  3. M.... D....

Awesome cover! But she cuts off too soon. Her voice should ring out longer.

I'm sorry English is not my first language, I hope you know what I mean.

Grace made her voice ring on till the next part but this girl just stops after she hits the highest note.

  4. B.... S....

I cant imagine anyone else covering that song she sounds great

  5. d.... ....

    ANYONE ELSE DRUNK?

  6. T.... G....

Ugh it’s like she’s from another time. The closest to Grace I’ve ever seen in a cover.

  7. T.... M....

Are those insects or Fairies flying around on stage? 😨🌺...no, I'm not stoned 😀

  8. A.... K....

The original is much better but that guitar riff at the beginning was great!

  9. G.... P....

    strong !

  10. O.... S....

Everything sounds better with an Arabian beat

  11. m.... f....

    That wins

  12. T.... H....

The original recording was good but mostly the were inconsistant with the recording. This is awesome

  13. o.... ....

    If Grace Slick's original is a 10, Grace Potter's cover is a 9.99.

  14. D.... C....

The ONLY great cover to white rabbit

  15. J.... O....

So much awesomeness, much love everyone :)

  16. L.... B....

    Pink's cover . . . https://youtu.be/ya8HXx2VxFU

  17. D.... D....

She looks like a thicker version of Jack Sparrow's girlfriend.

  18. J.... H....

    wish i meet alice

  19. D.... P....

    Damn good!

  20. G.... W....

"THis iSn'T beTTeR thAn tHE oRigiNAL" No shit. It's still real good.

  21. A.... M....

AWESOMENESS ..... 😏 EAT SOME FOUR WAY.

  22. K.... D....

    oyyyyyyyyyoyyyyyyyyyyyy

  23. n.... x....

aside from the insects flying and that weird microphone spit in the crescendo, it was a pretty good cover.

  24. D.... ....

    Great cover

  25. S.... V....

Wow Grace has a wonderful voice and is super pretty

  26. A.... ....

    www.wikifeet.com/Grace_Potter

  27. D.... M....

Like the version burned out on the original...

  28. M.... ....

It's really starting to annoy me that in every cover I see of this song, they're imitating the cadence of Jefferson Airplane. Why can't anyone seem to put their own spin on this?

  29. A.... P....

Not bad, but one Grace does not equal the other. Thank god there were no inane comments on her legs this time.

  30. D.... M....

I prefer this , original gets to much radio AirPlay , get boarded hearing same way over & over again for 30. + years ! 🤔

  31. B.... P....

I SAW AL T COVERS OF THIS .JJJ IS BEST.

  32. S.... S....

Not bad, but I couldn't help thinking that if anyone had written this song and performed it nowadays from scratch, it would quickly be forgotten. It was Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick that made this song what it was... and still is. A great song sung and performed perfectly.

  33. T.... P....

Not bad, but I prefer Haley Reinhart's version White Rabbit.

  34. D.... J....

Sex, Drugs, & Rock N' Roll All Wrapped In One Nice Package!

  35. K.... P....

This appeals to my aesthetic more than the original, but both are wonderful for different reasons

  36. f.... ....

    That ROCKS!

  37. S.... R....

Look for the Cathy Richardson cover. Truly rocks on!

  38. S.... T....

It's ok. Sounds a bit country. Nobody in that band had the "bite" it needed to soar.

  39. m.... ....

    fucking disgraceful cover

  40. P.... F....

Lacks the vocal power of Grace, but a pretty gosh darn version nonetheless.

  41. R.... C....

Trust me Grace I want need any pill to get LARGE.all I need is you baby.

    R.... C....

Roger: I think you meant to type "won't", not "want".

  42. N.... C....

Bass player needs to learn how to use her ring finger on her picking hand to play triplets.

  43. D.... ....

Definitely got the feel, love me some Grace (Slick and Potter)

  44. s.... e....

The other Grace would approve ! Thank-you Grace Potter ! (4 May 2018 1640 hours)

  45. g.... ....

    Excellent!

  46. A.... 1....

    Great guitar work dude, wonderful

  47. s.... m....

But Grace can do it NOW!

  48. h.... ....

Not that Grace is slack at all, but I can listen to this for that guitar lead in.

  49. r.... g....

what can ya say, GP is amazing

  50. J.... W....

    Sorry...I was chasing rabbits...

  51. t.... ....

    Great job . Nice .

  52. g.... i....

Grace hit it over the center field fence.

  53. S.... G....

    Man this is trippy....lol

  54. J.... H....

did anyone notice her nails at 2:35 !! ew ! her vocals are awesome though :D

  55. P.... ....

Awesome up until the last Vocal note!!

  56. O.... M....

Some songs should not be covered..

  57. I.... V....

This is simply awesome. Kudos, people!

  58. R.... O....

Best thing about that decent cover is they really seemed to be enjoying playing it!

  59. R.... L....

of course grace slick cant be topped with this song but this version is the bomb

  60. b.... ....

This requires a very strong female voice. obviously, Grace Slick had it. This is a version that gives Slick a run for her money.

  61. r.... ....

let's get this party started! lol

  62. J.... ....

I am very protective over a song like this (which is one of my favorites) and I gotta say, Grace Potter did a nice job it. Gracie Slick would've dug it, I think

  63. a.... r....

Grace Potter is so under rated. More talent than anyone can count.

  64. A.... W....

Very brave of her. But, damn, NOTHING compares to what the other Grace did at Woodstock. Love Ms Potter but, redoing one of the greatest songs of all time shouldn't be high on her list of things to do.

  65. R.... L....

Very well done, but Grace doesn't knock it out of the park like Grace Slick did.

  66. F.... W....

    How wonderful this was!

  67. H.... M....

It does my heart good to hear a new version of an older song done up right! Wait a second..... I'm not really from the 60's.  (LOL)

  68. A.... V....

    That's some good shit

  69. M.... H....

She does this song justice. Glad to hear it again. I won't compare it with Grace Slick at Woodstock. That was a long, long time ago. They say that Grace Slick wrote this in minutes and it just flowed out naturally.

  70. N.... ....

The drummer sucks. He isn't playing the quadruplet rolls which make up most of the beats.

  71. E.... B....

got a million views! good, no, phenomenal stuff. thanks

  72. R.... S....

why isn' t she on the radio?? instead of Beyonce

    R.... S....

You exemplify the term stupid american first there are radio station that cater to specific genres of music, pop music wouldnt play under ground music second beyonce is R&B pop a radio station that plays such type of music wouldnt play rock, third who listen to the radio fourth through the internet you can listen to any radio station in the world I listen to 99.5 in costa rica a radio station that caters only to 60s 70s 80s music no beyonce.

    R.... S....

    Preach it!!

    R.... S....

@Leadman1989 : Radio still has an important place in music, especially rock n roll.

    R.... S....

@Rolman80 80 : You ask who still listens to radio, and two lines later you admit that you do?
Radio is still important in music, and whenever I'm in Costa Rica I also listen to 99.5. In fact, I choose the bars, restaurants, and even some stores I visit just because they play good R N R ON THE RADIO.
In Panama I like 102.3 for the same reasons.

What part of C.R. are you in? I always stay based in San Jose when I go there, but branch out to the beaches and volcanoes on whatever whim strikes me. Being a single "pensionado" has lots of advantages!

Be interesting to meet you some day, maybe.

  73. s.... ....

Grace Potter is much more attractive as a brunette!

  74. O.... ....

Not even bad, but the bass player butchered that intro.

    O.... ....

yeah, the bass player missed all the ghost note runs. shame, those make that intro.

    O.... ....

The bass player is NOT Jack Cassady. By ANY means.

    O.... ....

And Grace Potter ain't no Grace Slick either.

    O.... ....

Come back to the adult table when you know the difference between a published version and a cover.

    O.... ....

And the singer butchered the ending and I'm not sure the drummer ever heard the song.

  75. 1.... ....

I'm sitting here with chills and giggling to myself at 8:45 on a Sunday morning. They did this as the closer to a concert in Tempe Arizona several years ago and blew the roof off the place. This is what live music is all about.

  76. C.... D....

    MY GOD. Holy shit. Ahhhh

  77. N.... n....

    Alice people coming ..........

  78. f.... ....

That killer guitar solo at 0:24 gives me psychedelic trips.

  79. D.... S....

I heard that song in movie The Game and since then i can't get it out of my head...

    D.... S....

+Damn Son One of my favorite movies! Michael Douglas vs. CRS (Consumer Recreation Services) LR

    D.... S....

I heard it first back in '67 or so and it has never really left my head. Rabbit, Volunteers, Somebody to Love, and Good Shepherd play back to back to back sometimes, depending on where my own head is being fed.
Nobody will ever match the impact of the Beatles, but for my own personal enjoyment of music, Airplane, REM, Pink Floyd, Clapton, Janis, Springsteen, and a few other bands rank right up there in a relative tie for first place.

  80. m.... b....

not as good as original, but ok.

  81. m.... ....

  82. A.... ....

Better than Grace Slick? Are you kidding me kids?
Was a good cover (i can find 10 much better than this) but it´s an insult to a rock star like Grace...

    A.... ....

This version is not an insult, but the original version can not be exceeded.
That's impossible, because White Rabbit is one of the not too many perfect, flawless songs. Not even Jefferson Airplane could do it better on stage.

    A.... ....

No such thing as " better " than Grace...I'd push it as far as NOT even " equal " ...

    A.... ....

a lot of pretentious chat in these comments. Opinions are not facts, no matter how emphatically stated.

    A.... ....

    Grace Potter is very good.
Vintage Gracie Slick's voice has no equal in psychedelic rock.
Both young ladies were beautiful in their prime.

    A.... ....

Wow. Lighten up. Slick would tell you to shut the fuck up. This is a solid cover. I prefer Pink’s and of course no one touches the original but “insult!” Cmon dude...

  83. t.... ....

Better than the original by miles.

    t.... ....

+theoriginal68niou1 Too funny!! Best laugh I've had all day!! Thx, theoriginal68niou1!!

    t.... ....

No shit, pass me whatever he's smoking because that shit MUSt be good.

  84. M.... S....

    excellent cover. period.

  85. N.... P....

Grace Potter is a Free Spirit... She is a good hearted Vermont girl, that has a dream, and she's living it...check out her "Big White Gate" a song written for her Grandmother...

  86. L.... &....

makes me wanna eat mushrooms. 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🌼🌼🍄

    L.... &....

I did that the other day.

    L.... &....

    ecco 🍄

    L.... &....

One of the most memorable non memorable moments of my life. You know what I am saying.

  87. r.... g....

    Grace is freakin awesome

  88. L.... W....

really sound good for a wanna be...

    L.... W....

This is for Larry Wright. Grace Potter isn't a want to be, Grace Potter is the real deal if you knew anything about her music I think you would agree. Besides sounding Ignorant towards Grace Potter listen to her music not a cover song she was asked to perform for the new Alice in Wonderland.

  89. H.... K....

guess she needs a tiny bit more of pills, whatever the color is

    H.... K....

    +Hyouck Kim HAHAHA!! Agreed.

  90. L.... K....

This as good as the original, maybe a touch better, wow

  91. M.... ....

I saw Grace Slick and Airplane do this, this is soooo good.

  92. o.... ....

Not too bad. It's a cover, not a tribute so they don't need to sound exactly like the original. They leave all of the basic elements of the song in, so I think that's pretty cool. Someone needs to be around to play these great songs to present, and future, generations of people. This one appears to be in pretty good hands.

    o.... ....

I prefer this cover over the origial grace potters voca has more emotion than grace slick that just my opinion

    o.... ....

    A star is born

    o.... ....

@lightwav1550 : I love Ms. Potter, but Nd. Slick is an icon of classic rock and has never been bettered. imho, she never will be, either.

    o.... ....

@Pete Townshend : You're entitled to your opinion, with which I disagree. The cover drummer did add a slightly new element, but mostly it was just a matter of passion and strength, and as much as I love Airplane, this cover sounds good on the drum and guitar ends.

    o.... ....

Except she got a lyric wrong. It's "And your mind is moving low". Not "slow".

  93. G.... M....

her vocals don't even compare.  Just did a quick check with Grace Slick singing.  Not even close.  Grace Slick was amazing.

    G.... M....

Gene Maurillo Saw Jefferson Starship with Ms. Grace, when heard this Grace first, Grace Slick came right to mind, fine cover.

  94. R.... J....

Gives me goosebumps every time.  Tis so very good.

  95. J.... H....

Big shoes to fill and the band was better than the original.  Like  I said, big shoes to fill on the vocals, but I'd say 95% which is probably 20% better than anybody else I ever heard trying to do this..

    J.... H....

@John Hennessy Wait, those guys are pretty good, but the bass and lead guys are better than Jack and Jorma? Hmmm...

    J.... H....

+obbor4 Agreed. The band is good here; good job on the song. Even so, no one's ever come close to capturing the bold, mysterious sound of Jack & Jorma on the intro of White Rabbit. As for Grace Potter...where did she get her vocal training? Sings from the throat - not the diaphragm - and sounds like she has a close pin over her nose or is asthmatic. Need a puff on that inhaler, Babe. Can't imagine anyone coming close to the powerhouse Grace Slick on Airplane/Starship songs...except for maybe Ann Wilson from Heart. Ann killed it on 'Stairway to Heaven' @ LZ's Kennedy Center Honors...brought Robert Plant to tears.

  96. M.... J....

Amazing cover that gave me chills down my spine. X3

  97. M.... L....

Always loved the middle eastern groove this tune has!
I wrote a metal version of it sounds really cool
