Gore, Lesley - No More Tears (Left To Cry) Lyrics

Oh, no more tears left to cry
And it's not a very big surprise
Cause since that lonely day, that you went away
I've cried and cried and cried until my eyes have gone dry

No more tears left to cry
No more sighs left to sigh
Remembering the nights I used to hold you tight
I've cried and cried and cried until my eyes have gone dry

Loneliness, my heart is filled with loneliness
Where once there was your loving tenderness
Oh, now, no more tears left to cry
Darling, I must apologize
Forgive my broken heart, but if the tears won't start
It's 'cause I've cried and cried until my eyes have run dry

Oh, loneliness, my heart is filled with loneliness
Where once there was your loving tenderness
Oh well, I said no more tears left to cry
Darling, I must apologize
Forgive my broken heart, but if the tears won't start
It's 'cause I've cried and cried until my eyes have run dry
Have run dry
Mmm, they've run dry

    I love the song, but I have a hard time figuring out whether the character of the song is really that obidient, with no-self esteem or whether the lyrics are meant as an irony. Someone who can provide me with an answer and maybe more context?)
    Thanks!

    Truly, one of the most talented and attractive ( I go out on a limb for saying that, due to PC) artists from my era, I've spent many hours, maybe years, listening to her songs. Anyway, I just wanted to say that LG was "one great talent." I saw her in concert some years ago, she seemed a little nervous , but came around after the welcome she so richly deserved. She is surely missed. Gary, a long time listener.

    Just beautiful. Why weren't alot of these songs played. Lesley wasn't given half the credit she deserved. She should of been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Love and miss you Lesley.

    ...OMG-WTF, having relaized what i said in my last post, i must re-post this....Both women, The late ms Gore and Ms. LMO-56, the former a great artist,the latter a good friend of mine,  who'm I've  admired forever, and Mrs. P, LMO-56,  both do share a common talent...both have lovely singing and speaking voices.  My recall of LMO-56's singing voice has reminded me of this and so this message has now been posted. Percy Faiths' "Theme from a summer Place",...let's dance...I did not forget...

  26. G.... M....

    This is the perfect divorce song....

  27. G.... M....

    ...another great song by the Great Ms Gore.  What a wonderful talent she was.  All of Ms Gores' fans, including myself, will always be dedicated and listening to her wonderful voice for as long as we shall live.

  28. G.... M....

    This is a great song...carry it on please...

  29. M.... ....

    Worst part is, she probably got her emotion from being lesbian and not being able to tell anyone...

    M.... ....

    She didn't realize she was a lesbian until her early 20s. She was pretty well adjusted about it, perhaps from going to Sarah Lawrence College. Even being blackmailed into coming out to her parents didn't shake her.

  30. j.... w....

    I love her music so much that I have a CD of her

  31. G.... M....

    THE ACTOR-COMEDIAN SANDY BARON WROTE THIS WITH MY DAD MARK BARKAN

    B.... B....

    Your dad wrote many of Lesley's songs then, both the hit singles and some album cuts. "She's A Fool" was a masterpiece, and, although "That's the Way Boys Are" needed new lyrics, the song had the magic touch. Quincy Jones must have had a connection to them somehow, as that's how he found most of Lesley's material, when she didn't write it or find it herself (like she did with "You Don't Own Me").

  35. K.... ....

    I love this song <3

  42. P.... S....

    What a song.  Wow!  Another single that Mercury heads should have released.  A true hit for sure.  Thanks for posting.

  43. a.... ....

    This is one of the many great songs by this lovely lady. Lesley Gore sure left us with many great songs.

  44. P.... H....

    Love this time period of music.  Our singer Millie Haskins likes to use this style in our shows as much as possible.  Check us out.  Never heard this one.  A touch of Dusty Springfield.  Bless you Lesley.

  45. b.... j....

    what a voice love her songs

  46. D.... ....

    this was posted a day before my birthday

  47. A.... R....

    Soy fan de esta mujer

  48. B.... A....

    Within three months of her appearance with "It's My Party", Lesley had recorded enough top ten hits (if they had all been released) to top the charts for three more years.   This gem would have been a monstrous hit on the top 40.

    B.... A....

    This song just doesn't have a strong enough hook. Just is not catchy enough to have been a hit like her others.

    B.... A....

    it's hooky enough for me. I can't get this tune out of my head! Love the harpsicord and great drumming. (Gary Chester ? )

    B.... A....

    and the pianist is great!!!

  49. D.... D....

    My favorite :):):)

  50. 1.... ....

    @JBfanforlife

    And you're right she's still 'got it'. I saw a vid of her singing it's my party in the summer of 2011, and 48 years later she still looked/sounded awesome.

  51. 1.... ....

    @JBfanforlife

    Oh I figured you knew more songs than just 2, it's that there's soOOO many good ones. I put this probably in my top 5. From the 80s till the mid 2000s I lived off/knew maybe 8 songs (the only ones they play on the radio) & it was still enough for her to be my fav. I don't get 'hooked' on many people, but I too love her as a great person -- down to earth, kind, smart business woman, put herself thru college, got straight A's while making big hits, etc. You have GREAT taste!

  52. 1.... ....

    @JBfanforlife

    ............If you don't already know you might check her songs/discography lesleygorefanclub(.)com/8(.)html . Just a few to find on YT for starters - The Old Crowd, All of My Life, My Town My Guy, Leave Me Alone, Look of Love (2 versions), I'm Coolin no Foolin, A Girl in Love.

  53. 1.... ....

    @JBfanforlife

    You mentioned this as your fav, & it's my party 2nd. Great songs but know this: LG has been my fav since the mid 80s & I've listened to oldies on the radio all the time since. --But despite that, only in the last years of the internet did I discover like 90 more songs I love but had never heard! Some of'em were even big hits..........

  54. 1.... ....

    @CynLennon1

    Being born in late 67, and being called weird for being that young while listening/LOVING this music to death, I never expected to find folks on ytube 1/3rd my age loving it too.---That was a huge relief to find some younger folks seeing the greateness in this music, along with yourself & JBfanforlife. I have loved Lesley Gore as my fav since the mid 80s, that'll NEVER change. I've got 500 songs on a playlist, about 90 of those are LGs, the 2nd most is 20 songs by another group.

    1.... ....

    1967PmdGto 90 songs! Wow.what are you're favorite unpopular Gore songs

  55. C.... ....

    @JBfanforlife :)

    Great tune from Lesley's debut album, I'll Cry If I Want To, produced by Quincy Jones, 1963.
