Goldfinger - Get What I Need Lyrics

It was thirty years ago since we smashed the window
Of that northern California house
A safety pin in my ear on Cayton's bike
Playing Bad Brains fucking loud
Smoking weed on the streets in the California heat
Spray paint on the walls
Stealing booze, cracked a tooth, we had nothing else to lose
Getting wasted to Twist and Crawl

Someday you'll find everything will be alright
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get what I want again
Someday you'll see everything I left behind
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get
To get what I need
To get what I need

Fade away in my head again
Watch the days, the months, the years turn to rust
Skies are gray, will I be okay?
Watch the memories I made turn to dust

Someday you'll find everything will be alright
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get what I want again
Someday you'll see everything I left behind
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get
To get what I need

Sometimes to get what I want, don't get what I need
To get what I want I don't get what I need
To get what I want, don't get what I need
To get what I want I don't get what I need

Someday you'll find everything will be alright
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get what I want again
Someday you'll see everything I left behind
I lost myself just to get what I want again
Lost myself just to get
To get what I need
To get what I need
To get what I need
To get what I need
To get what I need

  11. g.... b....

Production work of Feldy is everywhere nearly the same. This is like California on ska, and California is like adult 5 seconds Of Summer. Feldy is like one face actor from movies in producer role.

    g.... b....

Why does everyone call John Feldman, Feldy? The guy is a veteran of the ska-punk, pop punk genre. And I apologize for saying, I guess - California sounds great and was very well produced...not over produced.

  12. R.... K....

... also mine too. Dammit, where were these when I was 17!

    V.... L....

@Valkerion Scene is the most fun you can have without shortening your titles

    r.... ....

    Love it!

  35. J.... B....

What I need is the album.

  36. M.... S....

Music, melodies are good. Lyrics kind of meh, but at least John stopped preaching about how vegan he was. I miss Stomping Ground Goldfinger :(

    M.... S....

Yeah, Disconnection Notice was waaaay to vegan. Good sound at least tho. I like this, but Open Your Eyes is my favourite.

    M.... S....

Same here i thought the lyrics were bogus but everything else was good.

    M.... S....

Yeah, he got waaaay too preachy, it was irritating.
All the liberal bullshit too, like "Fuck Ted Nugent" from Open Your Eyes, what a load of pathetic bullshit. "chauvanistic republican !!1!1" are you fucking kidding me, John?
The first three albums are pure gold, a lot of those songs have a charming innocence to the lyrics, especially Hang-Ups.

    M.... S....

Superman and 20 Cent Goodbye are ska classics

    M.... S....

    Vegan is cool

  37. P.... 4....

goldfingers old ska roots with a new punk sound

  38. L.... R....

Now, this is what I expect from Goldfinger.

    L.... R....

@Jesus Stomping Ground and Open Your Eyes are my favorites from GF.

    L.... R....

@Jesus I don't see why Disconnection Notice is trash, at least Goldfinger still felt legit, it's literally a supergroup now.

    L.... R....

Everything after the first two albums just felt so produced and cheesy and just wasn’t the same. I have always gone back to the first two albums, but I can’t remember the last time I played any other album the whole way through.

    L.... R....

@Jesus I do get what you mean. Post-Hang-Ups I still love (at least up until DN) but it's nowhere near as creative or unique, it's mostly just catchy pop-punk. It's very good catchy pop-punk, some of the best of that genre, but by the standards Goldfinger set with the first two albums, Stomping Ground onwards absolutely pales in comparison.

    L.... R....

Stomping Ground and Open Your Eyes I did listen to a couple times, they’re ok. Open Your Eyes is a great song. Just wasn’t the same after that and I stopped paying attention.

I actually hung out with them watching Sex Pistols live when I was like 12 lol.

  39. J.... H....

    hell yeah

    J.... H....

    Jay Halestorm feelll you bro
