I think it rules. Have been a fan since Gypsy Punk Underdog World Strike. Yes, that album will always be my favorite since it was my first, but I think here we see the same Gypsy Punk mentality with a more refined musical sound, which makes sense to me. Instead of playing sweaty 200 person indoor venues where their aggressive punk sound reigned supreme, they now play for a larger audience. I saw them at an outdoor fest in my home town and in all honesty, though the super fast gypsy punk will always be my favorite, it really doesn't translate well to a large outdoor venue with thousands of people. Most punk bands playing large outdoor venues aren't working with a 10 person band with such varying instruments. Plus how long can you keep doing the same old thing? Good things change over time, embrace it. I agree with the prior posts saying that its the same old caravan rolling through new territories. Happy to be along for the ride.

Went to their concert several days ago, it was great fun! However, there was no accordion in the band an I missed it, to be honest

When you sell out to Coca Cola, the music does tend to become overproduced, the gigs do tend to become overpriced and the word sell out flows through the music like aspartame and phosphoric acid.

I don't like this album = they have gone mainstream

Powerful!

I love how spiritual this album is. It feels like a needed moment of self reflections and recommitment to the soul of gypsy punk. As a long time fan, this feels right. If you have been loving the principles of or are an immigrant punk through blood or choice, you have been fighting. You will continue to fight and this is the album to play in-between. When you wonder why and remember you are a Finder, that you are breaking through to your highself and refuse to be stopped at any border.

What is this in terms? punk prog rock? It sounds like the Moody Blues got into meth. I like that GB put out an album I never would have expected, just like Underdog World Strike when I first heard them.

Their violinist has been begging for a rock album after every album completion. Glad he finally got a bit more of what he wanted, but his part seems to have shrank a bit in the process!

great band! not my favorite album, but still good stuff! and for all you moaners and whiners: does all music need to sound the same to fit into you cool genre box? get a life! punk rock of gypsy punks-super taranta was just another neighborhood the caravan was passing through without settling down - connecting to public utilities - and paying residential taxes, just like dub(bish) sound before that. indestructible caravan keeps forever going, dogs and hipsters keep on whining and barking.

How the heck did i get here

This is probably the most relaxing punk album I've ever heard, love it. Call it mainstream if you want and be disappointed if you want if all you desire is an ear full of Super Taranta Wunderlust you must not be keeping yourself busy enough.

Ten years or so ago, I regarded Gogol Bordello as the best band on the planet, especially live, but this is a weak, WEAK collection of songs.

Uh this album kind of lost the violin and the accordeon thats so sad, but its something you grow into and its real good music!
I do hope tho that they play more of the older stuff when they come to zurich for a concert in december ^^

I think it is a good intro for new fans to discover their older albums. Saw them in Cleveland last night and they were absolutely incredible.

This is the best "calm" album I've heard during last couple of years.
And Regina Spektor voice on Seekrs and Finders is just honey to the ears.
Come on negative comment posters. There are more than enough alco/gypsy/trash/party material from Gogol Bordello, so there is no chance album with this kind of songs could no be released.

I knew there would be a lot of comments on the sound of this album variety is good just enjoy the music it's all good something's grow on you later.

I am a huge Gogol Bordello fan for years. But honestly, this album is nothing but a disappointment. It sounds like they wanna get mainstream, but instead really failed writing inspired songs... I listened twice to the full album and felt bored already after a few songs...Already Pura Vida Conspiracy was weaker than the other, but this album is really the weakest they have done...
Nevertheless Transcontinental Hustle is still one of my favorite album of all time. And Gogol Bordello is a fantastic live band.

That just sometimes happens, when you play long enough in a band together. You don't have to sell your soul for that.

You might want to check out, Good Charlotte's "Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous". You might like that better.

Agreed. The last three albums before this one are much better produced. This one seems rushed too, for some reason. Maybe its the reason this one is not so good. But still a good band.
