Go West - From Baltimore To Paris Lyrics

You knew those Belvedere weekends
Were just the beginning
Of a long way home
You were not meant to be
Just good friends

Rumor red
You were ahead of your time

From Baltimore to Paris
You held your head up high
Held back the tears
Across the years

A prisoner of circumstances
Outside looking in
If you had your time over
Would you do it all again?

He was your lonely little boy
Lost in deep water and about to go down
You soon became his favorite toy
A brighter jewel than any in the crown

He abandoned what he promised you
When he could not turn the tide
With a lifetime to prove yourselves
It was enough for you to be at his side
You gave up your pride

Rumor red
One step ahead of your time

    D.... R....

@David Ridley yeah i wud've also thought of the playing the song at my funeral thing had our cremation practices been similar, but no song playing as such in our culture:) but this wud've been the song for sure had that been a practice over here; I've hopefully got a long life to live ahead though.

  36. M.... ....

Having writing talent and awesome vocals, have kept Go West in the business for over 30 years (((◠‿◠)))

  37. c.... ....

One my favorite Go West tracks. Love the music production on this one. Beautiful vocals.

  38. g.... ....

This is what made the Incredible 80s faabulous! Go West, Living in a Box, Waterfront, PM, Culture Club, Coreey Hart, Duran Duran, Cliff Richard, Haircut 100, Toto, Glass Tiger, The Fixx, Eurythmics, Tears For Fear, and so many more. There will only be two decades that rival the music generated from this decade-The 60s & 70s! I'm glad I was a part of it, lived and loved it!!

  39. M.... ....

The song, grxengine, tells the story of Edward and Mrs Wallace Simpson Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

  40. g.... ....

...and just what exactly does this amazing song mean? I have always been mesmerized by it...found myself singing it humming it out of the blue while driving cross country last week.

  41. M.... ....

I would say Walter, that you are spot on, thank you, for your lovely comment @//(*‿*)\\@.

  42. M.... ....

Awesome, is a good way to describe Go West, thank you, Ethan @//(*-*)\\@

  43. E.... G....

Awesome track, vocally tested and effortlessly passed! Great track from a great band.

  44. M.... ....

Peter Cox has an amazing voice, his new solo album "Riding The Blinds" is coming out, very soon, I cannot wait :-)

  45. M.... ....

Peter Cox has a very unique voice, I could listen to him all day, every day. With Peter Cox, working along side Richard Drummie, Go West have produced many timeless classics. Alan Murphy was a guitar genius R.I.P. Alan xx

    M.... ....

yeah a great great singer !!

  46. S.... J....

I always believed Pete's vocals were amongst his most brilliant on this track. And of course, Alan's great guitar style and a great bass line.

  47. M.... ....

There are 7 inch singles of Baltimore to paris out there, I have seen them, good hunting and good luck, bes wishes :-)

  48. u.... ....

I have both Dancing On The Couch and Aces & Kings on CD, just have to find it on 7 inch, I have all their other singles on 7 inch from We Close to We Close 93 remix, this is the only one I don't have, and I guess the yellow cover is the cover for the single and ones that's been made up. long live Go West

  49. M.... ....

Baltimore to Paris was released Vinyl in 1987, as far as I know, the single has never been transferred onto CD, however, Baltimore to Paris is on many of Go West Albums, e.g. Dancing On The Couch, Aces and Kings, the best of Go West & The Very Best Of Go West, hope this helps. The single is still available :-)

  50. u.... ....

I so need to find this on single. but can't find it anywhere, can't believe it didn't even make the UK top 75, didn't even make the top 100, total travesty in my book, wonder if a video was done for it

  51. R.... G....

Yeah Maze, your exactly right about the industry not really backing them. It may be due to the fact that this really is considered a prog rock talent or fusion. Not alot of everyday people understand it. It is a thinking mans music or a musicians total release. Thanks my brother for what you said!!! [email protected]

  52. M.... ....

I could not have put it better myself. I have been a fan since day one; I feel that Go West’s talents have been seriously underrated by the music industry. Thank goodness for the loyal fans who can see their proficiency and appreciate the unique genius of Peter & Richard :-)

  53. R.... G....

I have been a musician since I was six years old. Go west has amaized me since I found them in 1987. Never in my career have I heard such feeling, prowess of craft, and heart that Go West just exudes and just fills your heart with immense joy! I pray for Alan and his friends and family as well as Peter and Richard. I love you guys!! You reinvented music and made an intellegent man's modern day quest for the perfect synthphony available. 54. M.... ....

Alan Murphy had his own, very distinctive sound, R.I.P Alan xxxx

  55. g.... ....

alan murphys guitar work on this song kicks ass, what a guitarist;)

  56. M.... ....

You are welcome, Go West are a powerful writing duo :-)
