Go! Team, The - Bottle Rocket Lyrics

And it's Us Guys writing down a funky rhyme
And this is how we introduce it one at a time
We got a feel good vibe that makes the place jam
With a freaky kinda music you can't understand
It's neither here nor there but shake your derriere
It's got style, originality and lots of flair

It's funky, we're jamming all in the place
And we have a lot of flavour so whatever your taste
You know we're sure to please you no matter what you do
No matter where you from, you'd better hear the truth

Now you know our names and you've been to the show
And the talent we got will shake you down to the bone
And we're in control of the whole damn place
So come on everybody, let's rock this break
[x2]

Now... When we do our thing, it's an original groove
Shake it back, shake it forth, we wanna see you move
And if you didn't know about us then get into the flow
Brand new on the scene, it's the Team called Go!

It's fresh, so heavy, hear it breaking down
Hear the beat still rocking everyone around
You know we're sure to please you no matter what you do
No matter where you from, you'd better hear the truth

Now you know our names and you've been to the show
And the talent we got will shake you down to the bone
And we're in control of the whole damn place
So come on everybody, let's rock this break
[x2]

HIT IT!

2, 4, 6, 8, 10 [x8]

2, 4, 6, 8, 10

And it's Us Guys writing down a funky rhyme
And this is how we introduce it one at a time

2, 4, 6, 8, 10

And it's Us Guys writing down a funky rhyme
And this is how we introduce it one at a time

Go! Team, The Bottle Rocket Comments
  1. T.... Y....

Samples "Soul Time" by Shirley Ellis

  2. d.... ....

This is my favourite version, so refreshing that it always pumps you up to get on with your day. The other one's chorus doesn't flow as good as this. Why the different lyrics?

(Edit, OK I got it. They basically sampled the whole verses and chorus from US GIrls - New York City Breakers then had to re-record it with new lyrics because of copyright infringement...Geez, I thought that was actually Ninja performing those...)

  3. A.... O....

Paper dolls cover of Darlin by the Beach Boys?

  4. S.... ....

For those of you who love the harmonica in this song, also check out "lane moje" by Zeljko Joksimovic. Instead of a harmonica, it's a violin, and it has the same beautiful effect!

  5. D.... W....

~ ~ Shirley Ellis, Michael Holman & Us Girls, Northern Soul & love of the Go! Team, that harmonica, & love of samples brought me here - THANK YOU for posting another classic jam by them! Cheers~ DAVEDJ ~ ~

  6. H.... T....

I think I prefer this version to the version on the album!

  7. S.... T....

    Lumines 🤓

  8. P.... C....

every time spring starts rolling back around, i go on a *massive* go! team kick. and with this it's not hard to remember why... <3

  9. C.... K....

    fucking loves this... simples

    C.... K....

    Happy 🎂 me

  10. d.... ....

are the lyrics different on this from the original/radio version? I could have sworn it said 'you know our names and you've been to the show' at the chorus?!

    d.... ....

+dakinator I heard this was the American Radio version, and you can find this on a few of the albums, I suppose those were re-releases.

    d.... ....

    Thanks for clarifying mate!

    d.... ....

this is the original UK version. they basically had to re-record it and re-sample from the ground up for the US and single version because otherwise the samples would be too expensive to clear.

  11. O.... C....

Ok, around 2:46 there's a horn sounding section. Sounds very much like Harder Than You Think by Public Enemy. Anyone know what it is? Confident enough it's a sample. Sounds almost like Primal Scream or something. Thanks!

  12. R.... C....

    Lumines 2

    R.... C....

    Rick Chop my childhood

  13. G.... L....

    That harmonica. Best. Thing. EVER.

    G.... L....

    Worst part of the song

  14. B.... B....

it's hard to believe this is all just samples

    B.... B....

Oh did not expect to find you here

  15. V.... P....

Does anyone know what songs they use in the background?

    V.... P....

    no samples! :)

    V.... P....

@***** ahh, sorry. I had always had the image of this band writing all its own music..

    V.... P....

    Shirley Ellis’ “Soul Time”

    V.... P....

Us Girls... New York City Breakers..

  16. r.... ....

i can't get over how happy and sort of sad that harmonica sounds

    r.... ....

Exactly, it's so strangely melancholy. It's very Ennio Morricone.

    r.... ....

no doubt heavily influenced by Mr Bloe - Groovin` With Mr.Bloe

  17. J.... ....

Do the lyrics for this version exist anywhere?

  18. R.... S....

    Party on

  19. P.... C....

Can't believe I haven't heard this in years. I'm STILL angry this didn't win the Mercury Prize.

    P.... C....

I can understand why, I've just listened to this on the radio today and I can't believe how good this is. Is that considered Big Beat genre? Anyway it's so good.

  20. P.... C....

Why did they have to re-produce it for the US market but not in the UK?

  21. f.... ....

Aside from Ninja joining the band, Ian Parton had to recreate the tracks with Ninja's voice as best he could because of the steep costs of using samples. All told, the original album would have cost $100,000 or pounds or something to make, which is ridiculous unless you're big.

  22. E.... S....

i follow listening this song in 2013 :3

    E.... S....

    2019, doing the same! 😀😀😀😉

  23. s.... ....

Look up "Michael Holman with Vocals by Us Girls - The New York City Breakers" on youtube to find the original sample....and better song

  24. B.... ....

Ian Parton is a sampling genius. So much more music like this needs to be made.

  25. j.... ....

They even introduce it as US GIrLs

  26. j.... ....

Yeah it's by US GIRLS and it's not credited on the album ,it's from the album "breakdance" on the "k-tel " label from1984

  27. m.... ....

This is the rap from the old Breakdance instructional album isn't it?

  28. I.... ....

@SuperPineapple93 Yeah there is like a radio edit thats paced differently

  29. s.... ....

@shauno5166 What?? Your class is crazy.

  30. N.... ....

    @lynnvryett same

  31. T.... t....

first time i heard this group. I'm loving this stuff

  32. C.... J....

i heard the other one once or twice, this is the one i first heard, and the one i love. wish i knew the lyrics tho.

  33. a.... j....

@Crede06 I really really prefer this one than the latter one.

  34. C.... ....

@ishouldplayzelda "Bust-Out Brigade" is on LBP for the Vita :)

  35. d.... ....

    different. too... pleasent.

  36. C.... ....

@SuperPineapple93 There was a US and UK version of the entire album, and they have different samples and, in some cases like Bottle Rocket have different lyrics.

  37. K.... ....

Thumbs up if you looked at the title of this song and saw "Team Rocket".

  38. V.... V....

Lumines II actually introduced me to this song.

    V.... V....

    Me too, lol. 😁😉

  39. W.... ....

I bought this album in America and this is the exact version on mine, not the Ninja vocals. Guess mine's an import.

  40. C.... J....

This is my fav go team song, but that's no insult to all the other good ones they got.

And this is the version of the song I like best.

  41. T.... ....

pretty good but panther dash is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better

  42. a.... j....

    Thanks for the info.

I've got both versions. I prefer the 1st, original one. It's only available on the Memphis Industries edition (I don't know if following editions have the new version). The 7" single and the Columbia edition has the new version.

  43. t.... ....

    the

    go

    team

  44. u.... ....

this is a great song! love it

  45. E.... ....

There are. This doesn't sound like the version I have.

  46. s.... ....

    cool (^_^)!
