Glen Campbell - Burning Bridges Lyrics
Found some letters you wrote me this morning they told of a love we once knew
Now they're gone I'd burned them to ashes
Don't want nothing to remind me of you
Burning bridges behind me it's too late to turn back now
Burning bridges behind me all I want is to forget you somehow
Sold the house we once planned together said goodbye to friends we knew
Then I moved to a faraway city trying hard to forget about you
Burning bridges behind me...

Glen Campbell Burning Bridges Comments
Of course on piano, his Wrecking Crew mate, Leon Russell.
Burning Bridges was released in 1967. In 1967 he also had hit songs Gentle on my Mind written by John Hartford and By the time I get to Phoenix.
This is such a beautiful sad song.
55 years old, known the name of Glen Campbell since before I could read or write, and I've only just realised what a magnificent voice he had. A world of pleasure coming up!
Just wonderful RIP Glen
After John Denver, Glen Campbell is my second favourite country singer R.I.P Glen, your voice will live on forever just like JDs
I’m glad that this great artist is finally at peace may his soul truly Rest In Peace that his body and mind destroying disease won’t Rob the memories of this great artist anymore he
One of my favorite singers. Rest in peace and sing with the angels.
I remember this song ,growing up in the early 70s,was fortunate enough to see Glen Cambell in concert, aged 9 yrs old, RIP Glen, your music will always be gentle on my mind
great song played it in late 60s
Keep strumming that guitar up there. Rest In Peace Mr Campbell
This song was released as a single when the flip side song was actually promoted. Never forget the single record being in a jukebox but more people played Burning Bridges than the other song.
jym 1644 you're the best thank you very much
You're welcome.
Trying hard to forget about you....
'Just read Glen is being moved to an Alzheimer's care facility, for advanced care. How sad. He gave us a LOT of great music. This little number was always one of my top favs he did. 'Was really glad to find it on here tonight. THANK YOU, jym1644. --- 'Guess I'll be asking God to give him all the peace that's possible and then some, as he finishes his time in this world. 'See ya on the other side, Glen!! Beautiful, healthy, and Singing!!! LOVE!! ........................... Peace, Everyone, --- Mesha
jym1644 .... Thanks for the 'Thumb-Up', Sweetheart. And, God Bless for 'remembering' Glen so well. PEACE! ....... Mesha
Beautiful song. I remember when Jack Scott sang this song. Both are great artists.
PURE COUNTRY GOLD!!...Thank you soooo very much for posting and sharing this "lost and rarely heard anymore" lil' country gem that reached #18 on the charts for Glen back in February 1967...I thoroughly enjoyed it!...and the sound quality is FIRST-RATE too!...Take care! :)
Jack Scott recorded this in 1959 reaching number 3 on the Billboard Pop Chart.
Thank you for your comment.
Charlie Pride is my favourite for this song . I think there are a few people who can relate to this . And move on .
Having only an mp3 copy of the song, I thought that it was from his 1966 single (1960 is a typo!).
But you're probably right. He might have re-recorded the song for his 1967 album. Thanks!
Isn't this from his 1967 album of the same name? His first solo release was in 62.
Quite a few years ago I listened to this song over and over accompanied by large quantites of Wild Turkey, both of which seemed to help ease the pain. For a singer not usually known for sad songs, Glen does a great job on this.
This is, I guess, my favorite Glen Campbell song. Great video. Surprised me to find that I remembered all the lyrics after all these years.
Such a lovely though sad song and Glen Cambell sings this beautifully ♥ Thank you so much for uploading this.
Such a sad song. One of my Glen Campbell favorites. Thank you for posting, I've been looking this up for so long.
@kanolee907 Thank you for the information and for dropping by.
I recall this was written in 1957 and Glen is the first artist of to many to mention who recorded this song. What a great song written by Walter Scott.
