Glasper, Robert - All Matter Lyrics
[Bilal:]
We're all the same
And all so very different
Divine by design
It all intertwines
But we always changing
Moving
Still water's soft
Yet so hard
So what is love?
What is it?
What's is love, what is it?
Cool on the outside
Hot in the middle
Hot in the middle
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
Oh one great big small thing
Like pollen in the sping breeze
A spec of dust in this vast universe
Just like a rain drop
Dropped in the sea of consciousness
It's all matter
Eh, it's all matter
So what is love?
What is it?
What's is love, what is it?
Cool on the outside
Hot in the middle
Cool on the outside
Hot in the middle oh
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
You ain't even gotta try
All you gotta do is realize
It's all matter
It's all matter
Matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
Matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all, matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
It's all matter
Matter
Matter
It's all matter
Matter
It's all matter
Matter
Matter
It's all matter
Matter, matter, matter, matter, matter, matter, matter, matter, matter, matter
You ain't gotta try

Pity how bad the vocoder was...
having this be what comes out of you when you let all your energy out through this conduit, expresses their purity and depth of relationship to whatever the hell music is
Names the lighting tech but not the band😒
Anyone else getting JAMES BLAKE vibes here, unsure what song, but when he sings in the mic with that Vocoder early on, I'm getting Blake vibes.
2:10 lol
Drummer boi working?!
Robert glasper on those notes
Casey Benjamin is crazyyy😂👌
This is pure gold, the best live rendition of the best RGE's tune imo, the solos, especially Casey's one and especially its beginning and ending are mind blowing
The audio engineering in this is kind of booty. Like I know to be open minded about things but Ive seen these guys play in other venues and man do they sound amazing. This a very dry and ticky sounding production and there are a lot of just technical imbalances. What suites them better is a sort of more open ambient luscious type of sound. If it's just me, then it could just be a try at something different with this group. I mean I guess so.
Maybe stop jusging them on a 320kb rendition of their music and try to feel the core message and emotion, you may have to use your experience in jazz and music to make up for some of the imbalances.
10:27 listen to that
masterpiece..
Who is thst drummer
The drummer is Mark Colenburg
why can't i hear the ride?
because it has a crash under
I think the overhead mic that's supposed to pick it up is super directional but isn't placed that well above it.
Its a stack 2:32
puro deleite ,,
The drum and bass work.......mercy please!!!
the drummer is musically all that
+Roger Mitchell Yes!
Yessir bro mark colenburg!
Justin Tyson is from another planet compared to him
Normally I really love casey benjamin's work, but I think his solo here is just way too long. He loses me halfway each time I listen to this (other than that perfect) track.
+Michiel Celis agreed, it gets a little stagnant at some point... I think maybe glasper took a quick nap or something? idk the rest is so amazing it's hard to complain
Yo, that drumming and bass playing.
Eddy Segev
If you do not find anything special well there's no accounting for taste...
I saw some 4Play group videos. You're amazing sax player. You all play well. However 4Play group bassist also often out of tune. Also missing something in your music, about lack swing.
"What good is melody, what good is music
If it ain't possessin' something sweet?
Nah, it ain't the melody and it ain't the music
There's something else that makes this tune complete
Yes, it don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing..."
Sorry, cant find what is so special in this pianist. The Sopran player is out of tune. Not impressed.
The more you read a book, the more you find out about it's story and importance. Same with people. The more time you take to actually delve in to this group of musicians, then you will see what is special. I mean there is a reason why people love listen and watch his stuff. His productions, collaborations, etc. It's all on you man, and how much you actually find out about the "book".
@eddy segev wow, I am no Jazz historan, but I know good jazz when I feel it.. The greats of the 40s, 50s, 60s 70s did not focus on perfection, but it was about getting that raw explosive emotion out of the body any way possible, they knew that focussing on 'perfection' is a limitation in itself as there is no such thing as 'perfection' (so why waste time on it). Who knows, the Soprano player mitgh have just been having an off day, maybe he just didn't care about the rules of perfection, ah well... Sounded good on my end :)
Why are you even discouraging musical expression? Whats wrong with you? Do you think music is a special club where only those that play mathematically perfect have merit?
Does anyone happen to know where I could buy that Jay Dee shirt that Robert is wearing?
Bilal !
Who cares if he auto-tunes, the sax playing is stellar.
He's not AUTO tunnig, he plays own melody line, he's vocoding with keyboard control.
My god that bass player is amazing
derrick hodge !
Chris dave is one of a KIND!!
He surely is, but the drummer in this video and the current drummer is Mark Colenburg
anyone know the bass player?
Probably its Derrick Hodge
@riacharda thanks - awesome bas player! these guys are cranking
@Julian Taylor
Definitely Derrick Hodge! He's amazing
@Julian Taylor Robert Glasper even announces him in the video...
