Gilmour, David - Murder Lyrics
Some of them standing, some were waiting in the line
As if there was something that they thought they might find
Taking some strength from the feelings that always were shared
And in the background, the eyes that just stared
Was it your only way of making your mark
Did you get rid of all the voices in your head?
Do you now miss them and the things that they said?
On your own admission you raised up the knife
And you brought it down ending another man's life
When it was done you just threw down the blade
While the red blood spread wider like the anger you made
I don't want this anger that's burning in me
But none of the tears that we cry in sorrow or rage
Can make any difference, or turn back the page

Gilmour, David Murder Comments
Very well could be a Floyd song, could have easily been on "Meddle" with the continuation of the "Echoes"-ish guitar solos on this somg. Could have also fit in easily in "Animals" right before "Pigs On A Wing". But Pino's bass solo is far more what Roger Waters could ever do!
can we remove the thumb down icon?
I never knew this was about J.L. thanks for posting.
My favorite solo from Gilmour
I could listen to the just the bass line alone, all day, everyday.
Ive never heard a live version that played this song anywhere close to this version.
❤️ delicious man!
Growing up I remember thinking Rock n Roll was dying Zeppelin was not planning to get back together Roger and David were at odds Pink Floyd split up The who was no more the hints of a new sound was on the horizon.
1984 what a year thanks 🤪🖖
Really don't mind if You sit this one out
I miss this tour....
...still
....and it hurts
A song from the chest
In May 2019 David is auctioning off 120 of his prized guitars to benefit the downtrodden in our world. He is a wonderful human being.
The aim of that charity is bollocks.
This is rock mastery.
Ti amo David Gilmour 😍💖
I love the fury David Gilmour puts into this song. He has similar fury when singing "Welcome To The Machine", "Young Lust", "Not Now John", "Dogs Of War", "A New Machine Parts 1 and 2" and "What Do You Want From Me?" and live versions of "Run Like Hell".
this and no way out of here. do love the bass solo
It's about John Lennon
bass line from current Who bassist, Pino Palladino !
🎵 "I don't want this anger burning in me; it's something from which it's so hard to be free. " 🎶
Trivia: The title of this album and picture is a sort of light hearted poke at Roger Water's recent Pros And Cons Of Hitchiking album. See David has his thumb out hitching a ride and the About Face title refers to the photo of the scantily clad hitchchiker on Roger's album, it would be nice to see a full frontal, nice bum though. Some copies were cencored.
Wonderful musical artist. Total joy listening to him.
I miss John Lennon. One of the best dedication tracks. You're the greatest Mr.Gilmour.
I used to think this was written for John Lennon, too. But John was killed with a gun. This song is about a killing by knife.
Jeff Porcaro (Toto) on Drums!
Fuck you chapman!!🖕
1:49 - great moment!
Exactly!
44 fuckers are gonna be murdered...!!!
F'n fabulous.
Got this at the bargain cd table in the late 80's.
That fretless bass interlude is as cool as it gets. How did this song become an old song? I was a year out of high school when it was released. Geeze, tempus fugit.
It’s because of songs like this that YouTube needs a love button cos this song is a masterpiece
Goose bump every time David Gilmore simply the best
I haven't listened to this album in over 30 years! Forgot I even had it as a teen-- for each song, I say "Oh yeah! I remember this!". Great.
nice song by David Gilmour from this album in 1984!!!
none of the tears that you cry in sorrow or rage will make any difference or turn back the page. -truer lines have never been written
Words can't express how I feel about this track.
Thanks Morgan✌💕🙏

Gilmour single handedly wrote a brilliant song here.
I wish Gilmour kept it for Momentary Lapse of Reason. It would have lifted that album even higher.
Jesus..... totally forgot about this song!!!! Sooo awesome to rediscover it!!!!!
Two-Point-One *Thousand*...to *thirty-seven*: 'Nuff said. :|
Si saben para quien hiba dirigida
Con esta canción enseñe ha un gran Amigó no entendía el mensaje de la rola.
David was making great solo music, while keeping PF alive...... so as much as I love Roger and his stuff, obviously David is and always will be Pink Floyd, despite the fact he joined the band as the last member......
I love the acoustic guitar at the beginning! Then those changes in moods, I think one of Dave's best!
Feels like if david gilmour make final cut
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
OVERDUB NERVOSO...
EXCELENTE DISCO (1984).
PINO PALLADINO (BASS - FRETLESS), JON LORD E CIA ...
The best Britain has produced.
Overwhelming song... you can feel the sadness deep in your soul.
Love Pino's fretless work ...
Brilliant fucking song.
great album, probably on bottom of my closet, so much great music back than, just now realized happy to grow up in 70' & 80'
I don't think Gilmour has ever played a bad note...ever.
It cracks me up when ppl scream how the guitarist Buckethead plays with such feeling and emotion. Insane speed doesn't equate to musical talent. Gilmour plays with the most emotion next to Clapton, Hendrix, Trower.
king leonidasberg the spartan heeb
Man thank you, thank you, thank you for that comment. And thanks especially for that fine nod to the great Robin Trower.
I gotta tell you though, Bucket does know how to play with great emotion.
Perhaps you just haven’t heard the right songs of his. I dislike his fast stuff also; I have no use for it. But his slow stuff is just exquisite. If you want links, I can post a few.... you might start with “Electric Sea”
right on
Amazing song. First song I learned the bass line when I was a 17 year old punk!
I love Gilmours singing, and of course his mastery of the guitar.
Thanks America for letting nutters walk around with guns!
Deep Heat When you disarm the populace, its not long before all the armed nutters are either criminals or part of the govt. Our founders realized this very well.
No thanks.
David Gilmour's best solo hit. 1984 was an AWESOME year . 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Nothing like stepping back in time
Great song writing
El bajo suena como Aznar
This was written about John Lennon’s murder/FYI
one more magnificent song from D.G.
My idol I wanna see you live this is the only wish I have you and waters
Memphie Minnie screw waters ....that arrogant twat
this s0ng is adout a fictional story in a book but if its Lennon for you then leave it that way he's our Beethoven
In this case, I prefer minstrel over metal. Would like to hear this song completely acoustic.
I do this song acoustic all the time in Pittsburgh.
I didn't know it was about Lennon
I'm speechless
still so so beautiful
"Did you get rid of all the voices in your head?" ...
Not yet
This song never gets old....just more classic...great dedication to John Lennon
3:43 jonny greenwood playing style....

France kills our princesses American our musicians!
Aaaah, don't spook me like that this year, man! Gilmour is still alive and well.
@Rebecca B
Think God!
But the guy it was written about is dead.
+Deep Heat Oh yeah. Because England has been SO innocent all throughout history. You guys were raping and pillaging long before America was even a country.
One of the best and most underrated songs and musicians of rock.
yea man the best in the world
born2fly145 well said
based upon a former small conspiracy, based upon? (the 90's)TRUE. this song is mostly for the crooks, who have done that (done what? committed murder) are/were intelligent/smart, and seem to got away, but soon, or later got caught, and declared insane, before after or during the killing, or killings.
He’s rated by me to be my top #1 all-time favorite guitarist.
No one else is even close.
Somehow I still think that’s underrating him.
Quiet but not underrated! But now I guess "yes" because majority of these generation z and millenials doesn't understands the quality.
i remember of the good time
Le top de la Fender. Quel guitariste !
tout le monde faut être d'accord
+Tom Coffin d'etre**
it's very similar to Your Possible Pasts
Faces of stone guitar intro....
Toby Williams Are you kidding!!!!!!!
But with a much better lead singer! HAHAHA
Possible pasts is so boring :/
Dave the best of Guitar!!.
acoustic guitar in the first minute is like JETHRO TULL
i am almoust crying, this man is so fantastic,i really love you David.
You deserve the title of Sir Mr Gilmor
or lord David Gilmour.
God Emperor Gilmour.
indeed he should be a knight
He is!!
He isn't pretentious enough to actually desire it.
"Did you get rid of all the voices in your head?". Unfortunately I didn't. I'm still insane from watching "The Wall" on LSD about a 100 times. Man , I miss those times, but at least I still can listen to your guitar!
