Gill, Vince - Worlds Apart Lyrics

There's nothing quite as lonely
As a sky that turns to gray
Or a love that just starts dyin'
And slowly fades away

You were my best companion
Now we lie silent in the dark
Why do you and me have to be worlds apart

There's nothing quite as empty
As when children go away
And all that's left are memories
Of all those yesterdays

You can't understand the feeling
'Til it finds its way to your heart
Why do you and me have to be worlds apart

There's nothing quite as ugly
As two people full of hate
We'll all end up as equals
When we stand at heaven's gate

Love is still the answer
It's the only place to start
Why do you and me have to be worlds apart

My ex wife used to listen to this. I never knew I would eventually live it out in the divorce 😱☹️💔

  2. M.... W....

Worlds Apart should be send a message to people who are racist aganist blacks, transgenders, lesbians, bisexuals and gays.

Vince Gill has one of the most beautiful voices, I've ever heard--in country music or any other kind. What a talented man.😔💒

  4. J.... W....

This song is heartbreaking, and so is the video. I'm glad it has a happy ending.😊💒

  5. J.... B....

Makes me remember the love of my life how we live worlds apart because my career brought me clear across the country.

I lost her forever after that...now I live in torture and misery. I could've done better, I could've tried harder, I could've done more.

  6. c.... d....

You made me feel like a real man.I was complete.

  11. M.... W....

one person can't find a way to start.

This song always brings me to tears when in the video the mother goes to the prison to see her son, brings back some bad memories for me, and this song he put it out just when my son had been put in prison! But it's one of my most favorite songs of his because of the beautiful message! We'll all end up as equals when we stand at heaven's gate! Amen!!

  13. R.... A....

I know what it's like to be behind those bars. On the way back to the county jail I looked out the back window of the squad car and saw my mama wiping her face as she came out the courthouse.that still hurts to this day. I'm sorry mama, and I love you.

Vince is truly magical and a blessed by the almighty. He voice and his guitar carry extreme weight.

  20. D.... W....

ACC's #69 song of the '96 survey year. Vince hit #5 in Billboard, 10-19-96. God bless you, Irwin, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week!

Another beautiful song that was delivered beautifully.  One of the very uniqueness of Vince's music is the fact that he produces beautiful effects with his instruments that he plays in almost all of his recordings.  This is where I can find the common beauty with classical music that I am also a heavy listener.  I love it so much as a whole music and not just his captivating voice.

    C.... m....

i love this song growing up. it has been my favorite song ever since i use to see it on tv.

  22. R.... M....

Honor thy songwriters:  Vince Gill and Bob DiPiero;  y'all nailed it on this one.  This one's from 1996.  The songs that matter are the ones that last.

  23. A.... ....

This is my most favorite song of his. A truly wonderful song lyric's and music.

You can't understand the feeling until it finds it's way to your heart.......Love this song

    M.... G....

And he's right, you can listen to this song a thousand times a thousand. Until it finds it way, you will not understand it.

  25. c.... b....

    great voice

  26. j.... ....

We all stand as equals at heavens gate. Love is still the answer, as Jesus said, Love thy neighbor as thyself, and above all else, Love God.

Love built the Universe, sustains us, sustains the stars and everything their light illuminates.

  27. C.... ....

I have cried many hours with this song... :-(

  28. D.... W....

Which country are you from? In the US, we don't spell 'favorite' with a 'u'.

    D.... W....

Dave Wollenberg probably UK. the u getting added is primarily British English.

  29. D.... W....

ACC's #69 song of '96. God bless ya, Erwin, for postin' it. Thanx!

  30. L.... D....

Love is STILL the answer... remember that!!

  31. F.... ....

One of the few songs I liked when it first was released.
