I love the song! I will say that the ending seems to be...I’m trying to find the right words...umm...the ending seems like it isn’t an ending. What I mean is I was expecting a more definite ending and the ending we hear leaves me wondering whether the song is finished or not.

I have the vinyl record of the Okie album. This is one of the songs on that album. It's a deep and beautiful album full of the emotions that make any kind of music truly great. Vince takes all of his abilities and powers and puts them in some of the best country music I've ever heard. They're songs about Vince coming to terms with his life; what he's done wrong; what he values; what he loves; and what he's lost. A Letter To Mama is a sparkling example! It takes decades to realize these things, doesn't it, Vince? Thank you for making meaningful music and music that will endure with faith, hope, and love. In A World Without Haggard, you said, "Oh, who'll tell the truth to you and me?" Now it is you, Vince. The torch has been passed to you, and you are a worthy successor. Okie proves it without doubt.

Wow! My heart was just ripped from my chest... I can barely see through the blur of tears in my eyes to write this. If only this song was around 15 years ago before my Mom passed. We had a rocky relationship growing up after my Daddy passed away when I was just 7. It got better and we grew closer the last few years of her life, but I still feel like so much was left unsaid. If I knew then what I know and understand now our relationship and life together would have been very different. Thank you for this Vince, I'm going to write a letter to my Mom and put it in the frame behind my favorite photo of her and write one for my Daddy too. They are resting together in another state, it's not easy for me to get there very often, it's been years since I was last able to visit them, but when I can go again, I will take the letters with me to leave for them at their grave!

This song has me bawling like a baby. My sweet and only son, is estranged from me. Long story short is that an obsession w/anything, including religion isn't good. He uninvited me to his wedding last year. His first child, my 4th grandbaby & 2nd grandson, was born on the 3rd. Eleven days and I have yet to be welcomed to see Baby Lance. When I asked someone close to both of us, I was told it was bc my son doesn't think that I'm Christian enough. My heart is crushed. I pray that he hears this song and reaches out before it's too late. Tomorrow is never promised.

Jim n I have followed you since Pure Prairie League days! My dream has always been to sing with you some time. ❤️. Many people say I have a beautiful voice and use to pay to hear me sing. I can never hold a candle to you but who knows.... maybe some day I will have the wonderful honor and privilege to sing with you. My husband, Jim, and I saw you live at the New York State Fair a couple (?) of years ago? I thought, “ If only I could just sing back-up for Vince... just once! We live in Montour Falls NY, on the south end of Seneca lake. We lived in Cortland when we saw you at the fair. Thanx for sharing your golden voice and truly heart reaching songs with me! I’m a mom, gramma and great gramma! I can still sing pretty darn good! But I think it’s because I had a contralto voice. I still have the lows but the highs I have to sing in falsetto.
