this man was truly an underrated artist - I don't know why he's not inducted into the Rock And Roll hall of fame. Or is he???? Some one talk to me.

As that of any brilliant artist- Gil Scott-Heron, someone I've loved so much.all my life, his work touches everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, whatever - I'm white, 62, Gil's music will always touch my soul...

I agree with most everyone here in the comment, and as I was wiping my eyes wondering why allergies struck me now my eyes answered "because the song is a song of the soul caught in a slow burn", and I will never miss this great American poet. Gil Scott Heron will always stand as on of our greatest gifts to the world of poems sung so true, and what is true never gets old. But, I do miss every part of this man.

His son is Lyfe Jennings. The saga continues. And the drama.

I use to say that I was in fractions; fractions of a man long before I heard this compelling, enlightening song of life. When I stop my destructive lifestyle and not only felt but experience my life coming together, finding inner peace, that's when I discovered by mistake mind you- "Pieces of a Man" by Gil Scott-Heron and thought this song is about my life and how God has given me a chance to put all the pieces together. Yes this song brings tears of joy and sadness, not only about my life but the many people who because of certain situations saw their life break into Pieces. But it's never too late to put your Pieces of a Man (or Woman) back together again and never forget the words, music of this beautifully constructed song by the late, great Gil Scott-Heron.

First time I heard Gil was in the bottle and I gather all of his albums since... His music carry me through lifes trials and tribulations good times whole life

The most underated black American artist of all time. I'm a white English guy and I came to Gil late in life because his artistry was never highlighted here in the UK. Fantastic artist. I posted whitey on the moon on my FB page to highlight the fact that the space race took place against the background of the civil rights movement.

It’s funny how it’s 2019 and his songs still reflect what is going on today. The Truth never expires.

I don't know if anyone reading this has ever had anxiety, or any other mental illness and it got really serious‎, to the point that you felt like no one/nothing can help you feel better? Suddenly the lyrics to this song make a lot more sense. Such a sad song
