This song is the proof that how important and vital Omega was to Ghost both in the individual and songwriting process. If anyone interested, Witch Image is basically a developed version of an old demo song called "Sleepy Eye June" by MCC. Most of the commenters here keep saying how great musician Tobias is, but forget about the work what Omega put into Ghost. Sure, Tobias also has talent and taste in songcrafting, he really knows how to put various music parts together to sound great, this is why he is the main writer. But those of who are saying Ghost will always be the same, even without original members are lying. Basically Ghost still has the Meliora masks in this Prequelle era.

The whole album is a total departure from their previous work so anyone who claims they are the same is deaf.

Not only do I very much enjoy listening to to ghost I also love to sing their songs not just at home but in a Karaoke ! which I have done a few times. Being able to sing/perform a track being able to really feel a song in this way is something else and then there is the enjoyment of seeing peoples faces who have never heard this kind of music before. Witch Image is another song I love singing

Its about the people of london trying to have fun in pubs and bars despite somewhere else in the city people were dying of the plague

I was blown away by this song. Most reviews of the album barely mention it or say something about the chorus passively but I think it might be the best track of the whole endeavor with the catchiest Ghost refrain to date. I can't get enough! It's like BÖC on steroids playing 'Square Hammer'! That second pre-chorus where he holds out 'OVVEEEERRRRAAAAH!' straight back into the chorus is fucking hair raising and makes you want to fistbump Satan.

was reading the comment while listening and read the "OVVEERRRRAAAH" part the same time it played and got goosebumps all over the place.

This song and album are unique. It has metal, it has pop, it has hard rock. Most important, no other band would attempt this amalgamation, and it works really well. Ghost has balls. Say what you want about T Forge, the man can write great songs.

@Isac Pettersson You're wrong a lot. You must like it. Wether or not they are credited on the album would be determined by the CONTRACT, not some unwritten rule of music. He doesn't run a traditional band where the musicians are all equal partners. He's running the show and can get the players to sign anything he wants in a contract, or they don't have to play in his band or help write the songs.

@nitemareman1 i never said they get everything equal. My point is that they get a lot less because they contribute to a lot less, which is probably written in a contract that gives Tobias a lot more money etc. Which i think makes sense given the work he puts in as opposed to the ghouls

I'm loving the swedish folk touch in this song. I don't know why so many people disliked the new album. This album is the pinnacle of today's music industry who had fallen long way down into the pit.

It's the internet. If something gets popular there's certain people who go out of their way to hate on it, or try to ruin it for others in some way.. I just don't bother reading their posts once I see the direction it's going in.

The problem was too many ballads, really. Ben Eller is a guitar teacher / youtuber who reviewed it, and he summed it up perfectly.

It's a fine album, people just prefer others to it. Even Tobias Forge said it was creatively troubled, due to the legal issues they were dealing with. He said it "feels less cohesive" than their previous work and I agree.

@OmegaSanction I'd disagree, the album plays beautifully as a rock opera, and I think the definition of 'ballad' needs questioning here. The only ballads on the album which I would say are actual ballads are Pro Memoria and Life Eternal.



You could say Witch Image, potentially, but its mostly just a slow song rather than a ballad.



Either way, the album was exceedingly well received in most places and plays perfectly as a rock opera, full of drama and theatrics.

DeutscheLaRosche eso es porque no eres capaz de apreciar otros tipos de música que no sea Metal puro y duro... es cierto que este álbum no es el más metalero que tienen, pero ellos nunca dijeron que hiciesen metal... ellos dicen hacer pop, aunque tiran lógicamente del rock y el metal en casi su totalidad (será que la musica pop en Suecia es así xd) el álbum es muy bueno, tiene canciones mejores y otras menos buenas, pero decir que apesta solo porque no suena a metal es un poco dejado xd

Ghost se sale de lo cotidiano. son como una recopilación del rock variando ritmos, melodías. Excelente disco!

Jose Azucena yeah I'm only 14 and doing GCSE music and i performed but i kinda made up the chorus but i went pretty well. Also the guitar solo on rats is hard. I can play the slower beginning part of the solo but that was hard as nails
