After having listened to both this and the original I have decided, I really like both. This is my opinion:
Echo and the Bunnymen has a more haunting atmosphere.
Ghost is more dark and oppressive.

Both are beautiful in their own right. Not an easy song to cover, they should have some credit for that. :)
