George Strait - Beyond The Blue Neon Lyrics
Swingin' doors sawdust floors
A heartache drowns as the whiskey pours
There's a hole in the wall from some free for all
The ringin' crack of that old cue ball
I've been fallin' in here for what seems like years
And wonder what's going on beyond that blue neon
[Chorus:]
I hear tell there's people out there who don't know what losin' you means
They don't have a heart that just falls apart at the mention of your name
I heard they pretend the world didn't end
Right when I knew you were gone
I guess life still goes on beyond that blue neon
[Chorus]
But it's a quarter 'til two and I don't have a clue
As to what I'll do from now 'til dawn
I wonder what's going on beyond that blue neon
Lord, what's going on beyond that blue neon

1. Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind
Great song from a classic country album! This is what real country sounds like!
my boy george
This is SO much more than "Piano Man" or anything from the 40's. It is the heart & soul of everyone who has felt the gut wrenching, sleep depriving, pain of a lost love & disorientation. A vivid picture of a safe harbor: swinging doors, sawdust floors, a heartache drowns as whiskey pours, hole in the wall, & ringing crack of a cue ball. Where the tears & the lonely belong. It doesn't get any better. Billy Joel, even Sinatra, couldn't sing it any better. Blues, jazz, country, swing. m,m,m,
this to me is the essence of George Strait......the second most favorite GS song ever....next only to Amarillo...
i totally agree.. this is one of my all time favorite songs and albums.. thanks for the post.
love George Strait great voice
Really should be listened before or after Billy Joel's "Piano Man". Although it is much darker in tone. The beat is very 40s film noir. You can almost picture cigarette smoke and the smell of cheap booze.
i dont think its possible for george strait to do a bad song, he puts his hart in every song...god bless texas and george!!!
@MrDove82
The sound on this album is really something. It's such a great mix of swing, jazz, blues, and classic country.
The style is so different, but fitting – it’s wonderful.
Thanks God there are people with good music taste.
