George Harrison - This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying) Lyrics
(one, two, three, four)
Found myself out on a limb
But I'm happier than I've ever been
But this guitar can't keep from crying
Learned to get up when I fall
Can even climb Rolling Stone walls
But this guitar can't keep from crying
This here guitar can feel quite sad
Can be high strung, sometimes get mad
Can't understand or deal with hate
Responds much better to love
I though by now you knew the score
And this guitar can't keep from crying
(This) guitar, it can't keep from crying
This guitar can't keep from crying
This here guitar can feel quite sad
Can be high strung, sometimes get mad
It can't understand or deal with hate
Responds much better to love
While you attack, create offence
I'll put it down to your ignorance
But this guitar it can't keep from crying
This guitar can't keep from crying
This guitar can't keep from crying
This guitar can't keep from crying

Extra Texture is such an underrated album!
His best album...underrated....you are completely right...
The last single released by Apple Records. Still have my copy. B side is Maya Love from the Dark Horse LP.
A George guitar fest.
Awesome song!
What pedal is using the bass? Does anyone now?
I always thought it was keyboard synth bass. But upon closer listening, I think it might be an Envelope Follower pedal on the bass (or both layered?)
I'm just curious - not directly related but does anyone like Dhani Harrison's solo record? I've listened to it it but I can't seem to get into it. That's one that sounds a bit of a downer as opposed to Extra Texture :)

"This Guitar" is among my all-time favourite G. Harrison records. It is SO good! Wish it had a few more verses, though. It's the type of song you don't want the words (or music) to ever end! Love the guitar solo played by Jesse Ed Davis.

CRYING...CRYING FOREVER GEORGE
And a great album. This record gets dissed so much as being sub-par but I really like it. I was a teenager hungry for anything any of the ex-Beatles did when I discovered this record and I have always liked it. I understand he wasn't in the best of spaces emotionally while recording the record but from a purely song-craft perspective I think he's got some quality songs here!
I agree! I've read that it didn't really pan out with the critics but its honestly a favorite album of mine.
Right most critics say it’s a dreary or depressing record but as a 15 year old when I first heard it I didn’t pick up that vibe. It just sounded like a George album that started with a very pop sounding track followed by some thoughtful songs. I’ve also heard that this is one of Olivia’s favorite albums.
Ditto. I bought this album and wore out the grooves. I think critics just like to hear themselves pontificate. Listen to those riffs and tell me this is not a great song and album
MacSteve75 I agree!
Calm Beez A critic said his work from 74-82 was mediocre. I never heard such a crazy statement
