George Benson - Nadine (Is It You) Lyrics

As I got on a city bus and found a vacant seat
I thought I saw my future bride walkin? up the street
I shouted to the driver "hey conductor, you must slow down
I think I see her please let me off this bus"

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I see you darling you got something else to do

I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back
And started walkin toward a coffee colored Cadillac
I was pushin through the crowd to get to where she's at
And I was campaign shouting like a southern diplomat

Nadine, honey is that you?
Nadine. Honey, where are you?
Seems like every time I catch up with you, you're up to
Something new

Downtown searching for her, looking all around
Saw her getting in a yellow cab heading up town
I caught a loaded taxi, paid up everybody's tab
With a twenty-dollar bill, told him "catch that yellow cab"

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch up with you, you're up to
Something new

She moves around like a wayward summer breeze
Go, driver, go, go, catch her pretty please
Moving through the traffic like a mounted cavalier
Leaning out the taxi window trying to make her hear

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch up with you, you're up to
Something new

Wow! How cool is this?! I heard Memphis from this CD on the Same Old Blues radio show last night (I was also featured) and when the announcer said it was George Benson, I thought really? A bit of a departure, but certainly not from great playing. I used to play in a band and Nadine was my favorite song we did. Love it! Thanks George.

Man oh man! There's never been anyone in music like Mr. Good King Bad. He's always showed his endless musical range of styles like no other from Nat King Cole to MJ with ease. And now he's bringing it all the way back home to his early R & B 50s era roots back when he had his first band as a teen in the Steel City. He remains a prime example of what Mr. William Kennedy Ellington would call as his highest compliment to any true artist- "Beyond Catagory". I can't wait for this full album to come out & music listeners are so fortunate that the special ones like this man continue to challenge themselves musically & reward our ears in the process.

    GB,
"Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man that gets things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing; not just the people.
Your own work, not any possible object of their charity." That was quoted by the character 'Howard Roark' in a book called "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand.

You stand as my greatest reminder. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Benson! I'm first in line waiting! I didn't know a single word of English when I was introduced and fell in love with your music in 1993. I didn't need to understand the lyrics because your voice makes emotions palpable.
When I would get overwhelmed by the beauty of music I would share it with my Mom. I sent her link to your live performance of the song "You Don't Know What Love Is". She was in Russia. I'm in Canada. We both cried and dreamed what it would be like to experience being in that audience. That was the last song we exchanged over Skype with my forever young 62 Mom.
    Sending you Love.
