I used to think it was a synth solo too! Till I realized it was Mikes GUITAR! Listen to Burning Rope. SAME SOUND AND TONE! Colorsound Tonebender. He was using Steinbergers at this time but I'm sure he broke out the Strat ( Or that Ibanez double cutaway ) for the solo. Dont forget On The Shoreline he broke out the Ric 12 but was still relegated to a Bside. Seems some of Genesis's best songs were non album tracks at times!
This song, especially the keyboard solo, sounds like it came straight out of the old Sonic games back in the day... Guess that's why they called it the Sega Genesis! ;D
Look up the story of Abacab.. Boon and Tobias were big fans of the band. Hence the Genesis name and the codes all seemed to be A A BB AA CC AA BB., Ever notice? Look up wikipedia for that one! haha

@MrAntIbarra oh man really, gotta check that, the music of Genesis always reminded me of the music in Sonic for some reasons and I felt that the band influenced a lot the creator of the Sonic music ^^
