This is the first song i can ever remember all the words to, my dad must have bought it then, iwas 5 or 6 years old and i couldn't stop playing it, maybe his best song ever. ps the B side was "Aladins lamp" . may be my most favourite solo singer af all time.

It's just SO AMAZING!! This is basically a traumatic breakup song, that ends with the stratospheric vocal rise like none other!!

You know what other song ends this way, but isn't a breakup song... Olivia Newton John singing "Xanadu".. And wouldn't you know it... She too has been said to have a voice like an angel!!! ❤️

What other male vocalist just put it all on the line emotionally like he did? How long did it take for another one to come along??

He was the first and the greatest! Probably not until PRINCE sang, "The Beautiful Ones" did we have such an intense outpouring of emotion like this. I might have suggested "When A Man Loves A Woman," as sung by Michael Bolton, but the song is from the 3rd person perspective, just not the same.
