Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - The Pleasure Of You Lyrics

Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you

When you were young
You joined the boys in all of their games
Now you've come of age and still they sometimes whispher your name

Please try to forget because your past is over and done
And your future with me has just begun

Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you

Though you were a child nature had blessed you ahead of your time
And it's no surprise you had the young men waiting in line

Now they only talk because they'll never touch you again
And they couldn't love you like I can

Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you

There is something about his voice that is so soothing to me. I listen to him, over and over. I had the pleasure of having him on my flight January 9th, 2020, he was doing a gig in Las Vegas. Still cute as ever. 🙂😘

  15. S.... ....

Gary Puckett had an amazing voice, but just about ALL of his songs refer to forbidden young girls and fear of losing control ... creepy.

  16. A.... M....

The strongest opening of any song I've ever heard.

  17. p.... u....

GARY PUCKETT WAS TRUELY ONE OF GREATEST SINGER'S...HE COULD CAPTURE THE VERY ESSENCE  OF THE SONG.  PATRICK

  18. A.... M....

I have to agree with Jab353.  I too have been a fan of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap for decades.  So many amazing recordings, but this is truly my favorite.

  19. m.... p....

Power ballad. Gale force beginning where Puckett was at his best. Top shelf melody with gut feeling, driving rhythm, and heart felt hurt. Never left my ears...

    K.... R....

I met him in Phoenix, AZ and I found him to be most gracious too.  He and the Gap did a totally unscheduled performance in a local club.  Talk about an intimate show.  They even bought everyone drinks.

    K.... R....

Karen Ryan, gee I didn't find him handsome!  It's a woman thing huh?

    K.... R....

Alec Moffat ....Not really. ... I think certain women are beautiful. ..cute etc.. it's a human thing to me .

    K.... R....

My Apologies, I misunderstood Karen Ryan.

  35. C.... ....

Jack Bedients recording is from 1968. Gary Puckett recorded it for the union gaps second album which was released in early 1968 but recorded in late 67. More importantly , Jerry Fuller wrote it with Gary Puckett.

  36. k.... ....

Pleasantly surprising melodic skips and a couple of nice chord changes in this tune. If I ever heard it, I've forgotten it.
