Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - The Pleasure Of You Lyrics
Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you
You joined the boys in all of their games
Now you've come of age and still they sometimes whispher your name
Please try to forget because your past is over and done
And your future with me has just begun
Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you
Though you were a child nature had blessed you ahead of your time
And it's no surprise you had the young men waiting in line
Now they only talk because they'll never touch you again
And they couldn't love you like I can
Let the whole town say that you're bad
Everyone you've known should be glad
Just to know for a moment they had
The pleasure of you

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap The Pleasure Of You Comments
There is something about his voice that is so soothing to me. I listen to him, over and over. I had the pleasure of having him on my flight January 9th, 2020, he was doing a gig in Las Vegas. Still cute as ever. 🙂😘
Best voice of the sixties
1968, WHAT A MAGIN DECADE!! SO INNOCENT & YET LEARNED SO MUCH IN THE 60'S. PAINFUL & HAPPINESS AT THE SAME TIME. GARY P & THE UNION G WAS PART OF THE GROWING UP WITH THEIR SONGS! THANKS FOR PUTTING ON HERE!
Great voice and one heck of a nice guy!
Have loved this voice since 1970!
Beautiful as always!! 😇😇😇
He could sing the phone book and sound great
Mary Smith For sure!!
Was thinking the same thing!
Or put on continuous play! Never become old.
This song had such a powerful opening.
one of my all time favorites!
A song about a slag! :D
Intoxicating!
I Enjoyed This Song In My Courting Days @ Still Now..💕
Awesome Music, many Thanks...!
JUST TO KNOW THEY HAD THE PLEASURE OF YOU....DAMN...COULD I HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY???? FROM THE VALLEY OF THE SUN..PATRICK
Gary Puckett had an amazing voice, but just about ALL of his songs refer to forbidden young girls and fear of losing control ... creepy.
The strongest opening of any song I've ever heard.
GARY PUCKETT WAS TRUELY ONE OF GREATEST SINGER'S...HE COULD CAPTURE THE VERY ESSENCE OF THE SONG. PATRICK
I have to agree with Jab353. I too have been a fan of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap for decades. So many amazing recordings, but this is truly my favorite.
Power ballad. Gale force beginning where Puckett was at his best. Top shelf melody with gut feeling, driving rhythm, and heart felt hurt. Never left my ears...

Steve Perry is the re-incarnation of Gary Puckett !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I loved them back when and still listening today ~ having a Gary music day while pottering around house ~ how better can it get ~ love his voice and music ~ :)
name 1 other male singer that had the powerful voice and range without having to go to falsetto ..like gary did in his prime
Teddy Neeley, Anthony Warlow, Michael McDonald, But don't get me wrong I LOVE Gary Puckett's voice as well.
Next to John Denver , Gary Puckett's voice is PHENOMENAL !!!!!!!! ~♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I met him in Phoenix, AZ and I found him to be most gracious too. He and the Gap did a totally unscheduled performance in a local club. Talk about an intimate show. They even bought everyone drinks.
Karen Ryan, gee I didn't find him handsome! It's a woman thing huh?
Alec Moffat ....Not really. ... I think certain women are beautiful. ..cute etc.. it's a human thing to me .
My Apologies, I misunderstood Karen Ryan.
Next to WHO?
This was the b side of young girl in the uk
Along with Simple Man,these are his best songs of the ones you didn't hear often.
The best of all their songs. Thanks for posting!
The best voice to ever come out of Minnesota!
OR ANYWHERE ELSE !!
What about Kirby Puckett?
One of the best voices to come out of the USA.
After thirty plus years of enjoying Gary Puckett and The Union Gap I think I've chosen this song as my favorite! Thanks for the post!
glad you enjoyed....fantastic vocal
Most beautiful voice ever.
Another good one! Truly enjoyable. I agree with you ClassicPerformances2 that Gary had a wonderful vocal range and the arrangements were superb. Lots of nice sleepers. Thank you Gary and the Union Gap for your wonderful music and the lovely memories.
And thank you for posting this one also...a hidden gem indeed!
I "discovered" it when I purchased either an album or cd of their hits...most excellent!
Shalom!
GLAD YOU ENJOYED
This group had such a great run of hits. this is their best. thanks for posting.
Jack Bedients recording is from 1968. Gary Puckett recorded it for the union gaps second album which was released in early 1968 but recorded in late 67. More importantly , Jerry Fuller wrote it with Gary Puckett.
Pleasantly surprising melodic skips and a couple of nice chord changes in this tune. If I ever heard it, I've forgotten it.
