This song reminds me of the time my Dad and my oldest brother got into a fist fight in the front yard about 32 year's ago. My brother thought he was bad because he joined the army and had been to basic training. But he was knocked out with one single right hand. My brother came at him swinging at him wild. And he payed for that one by being knocked out.

Best way i ever heard it was a recounting by my stepfather telling me how it played out between him and his grandfather. The old man just looked at him apparently and said "By the time you can take me you won't want to".

My dad's the meanest mf you'll meet but he was smart enough at my age of 16 to never think of raising a hand or voice to me. I haven't lost a sober fight since single digits and fought just about every day. Also yes the kid is 2x worse than the parent. I understood the song, I just hesitate to say that it's about an abusive household when clearly it was the son's choice in each case. Really, it seems to be about a father and sons he raised to be unable to properly communicate. It's just all-around unfortunate, but I don't have a label for it.

Song has different meaning to me my dad was a abusive drunk. Beat the shit out of all of us. When I was 17 I stood my ground and after 5 min I had him face down in a water puddle almost drowning him in the process. His wife at the time pulled me off of him. He never raised a hand to us kids or any of his wives again.

When I was 13 my stepfather he was chasing me in the living room, I don't want to think what he was going to do to me, but all I was thinking he was going to sexually abuse me, and what I did was 🙂 I stopped and I turned and when he got close to me, I kicked as hard as I could 😱 ok I kick him in the balls!!! I don't remember nothing after that , but he never bothered me again 😋 lol I remember I was wearing my new shoes those babies were like tractor's, I never told any body that🤮 Not even my mom. 🙃 I'm 55 now😘 all my life I had to fight to survive.

@Criss MIelke yep I gave the old man a good old slobber knocker and he shuck that off like a fucking UFC fighter and at that moment I knew this situation was going in the wrong direction for me. He beat my ass and I sat on the ground thinking how I was going to say sorry but I think my face said it all . He reached down and gave me a hand up and that was a big moment for he and I. Didn't say much went our ways and to this day he and I are inseparable.

He took that as a threat and called me a little bastard and I haven't spoke to him since. I've tried but he's blocked me on all communications.. So oh well his loss.
