I do not think there has ever been anyone like her.. She was so talented and sang, danced and acted equally well. Also, her singing voice has such emotion and feeling it goes straight to the heart.

You can tell that they filmed the last part of this scene at another time; look at her hair as she sings "I knew I loved you heaps..." its more feathered in back. I think it's because they filmed and recorded the swing version that finished the number but decided to axe it and have Judy finish it off as a pure ballad instead.

People who know Garland from the more histrionic and overheated performances if her late career may well forget the freshness, luster and pure tonal beauty of her singing voice during these early years. I know of no pop singer in the history of American music that comes close. (so damn sweet and lovable onscreen here, by the way--and it's all 100% unforced, and natural. Called 'talent' , I guess, and this was one of a kind!

I fell in love for the first time when I saw Judy sing this. I'm only 49, so you can imagine that, in my day I probably only saw her in "Listen, Darling" once on cable. Judy was my first crush. She was perfect. What's not to love?

Judy Garland not only had the greatest voice of any person that ever lived, she touched her audiences so personally that a we immediately feel a bond develop. When Judy sings, she overwhelms the senses because every time she sang, it was her being true which is why she was so winning. Some singers can sing the same songs in the same key or even have a high octave range, but no one reaches and touches the listener so much so that they stop whatever they are doing just to watch her perform. Just look at her on stage performing. The audience focuses on her and doesn’t really watch whom ever is with her performing. I don’t care if it’s Sinatra or the President of the United States, she steals each and every moment. Her talent and presence is baffling and that’s why when younger people discover her on YouTube or tv or movies or internet, it’s like an epiphany when they see her appear and then shows them what real talent is! My mother loved Judy Garland. She was a year younger than Judy, so, they grew up together. Aug. 20, tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of my mom's death. She had a bad fall in 2011, hit her head, and was never the same person after that. When visiting her once, I played this on YouTube. My mother's eyes lit up and said, "Is that Judy Garland?" It made her very happy.

I lost my mom as well, a few years ago, who also loved Judy Garland. Strangely, seeing this comment made me feel so much better since we had such similar experiences. It seems our moms past at around the same time, and I as well once played this for her when she was sick and she lit up. Thank you for sharing your story, I wish you the best in the coming years <3

Seeing this clip, it makes me sick that Judy died so young.  Beautiful song -- really showcased Judy's talent.

My absolute favourite Judy song and my favourite version. I get tears in my eyes looking at her pretty face and thinking thank God she didn't know what the future held for her. All that talent in one small package and and MGM just destroyed her. I am glad that Mickey was always there for her.

Judy Garland was a really hard partier. People make her into just a victim, but if you listen to the stories it is really obvious that she was having fun and doing inappropriate things for her own kicks.

You don’t seem to take into consideration that she was under such tight controls, restrictions...really abuse for her childhood that how do you expect her to turn out? You cannot treat somebody that way for decades from an young age in childhood and then throw addictive mind controlling drugs for decades on top of that and expect them to turn out “normal!” First of all her mind was chemically FOREVER altered by the drugs and she was also forever altered by the emotional abuse that she suffered thruout her childhood.

Mickey Rooney was there but not truly there for her. He was busy trying to get into relationships with models and pretty girls. He didn’t really pay attention to her the way he needed to. They just were good together in show biz, but otherwise he was wrapped up in his own stuff to truly help her. And to be honest I think Judy loves him but he didn’t feel the same way.

My favorite Judy Garland song. Although the 1939 recording of this song is the best by far, only in this version  she sings the adorable lyrics: "I knew I loved you heaps and you were mine for keeps".
