This song came to me on spotify of all things, just out of the blue, because I wasn't even listening to a similar genre. I was in a really dark place at the time, had been for a very long while. You kind of just sink into depression, slowly, you think you can snap out of it , but you don't and one day you end up thinking of suicide 20 times in one day. My REAL self, the happy girl I've always been just wasn't there anymore. You don't even realize what's happening, but somewhere things went bad. I tried SO HARD to see things clearly, I just couldn't.
I was sure I was going to kill myself the day I heard this song. I had been postponing it one day at a time, all that i cared for was not hurting /scarringmy family. I had written out a note, so they understood why I was about to kill myself.
When I heard this song, goosebumps just spread all over me, and i was bawling halfway into it. I don't know how or why, it stopped me from committing suicide, there were phrases and sounds that just resonated deeply. I didn't even know Gang Of Youths before, and even though it may seem cheesy or whatever, I'm SO SO infinitely grateful for this song. It brought back my strength for a moment, it reminded me I was still headstrong and smart and capable, I needed to dig myself out. I needed to dust myself off and get back in the race, I could do it.

To me specially from 4:30 it sounds like the good (angel) and the bad (devil) are talking to Achilles. At 4:57 they both speak at the same time. The devil saying: ''Jump of the roof'', where the angel is saying: ''Get of the roof''. Depending on what Achilles (or the listener) wants to hear.

here's my interpretation of the song:
once, when patroclus was alive and all was not exactly perfect but you could say it was well, achilles found himself on the rooftop. contemplating jumping. and just before he closed his eyes and threw himself off, patroclus interrupted. he talked achilles out of it. *it's not worth it, achilles.*
and now, when patroclus is dead and all is certainly not well, achilles is on the roof once again. the thoughts swirling in his head before are a hurricane now. and just before he jumps, patroclus's ghost interrupts like he did when he was alive. he repeats the things he said many years ago, when he was alive.

This song is pure ecstasy, the emotion it stirs up is purely spectacular. It speaks to something so empty and dead I tmdont think it could stop me from ending things

Try to focus more on the beauty put into this song as a way to make everyone, even people that haven’t struggled with these thoughts and feelings, understand te two way struggle in a persons mind. I hope some day you can and will find comfort in this song💗. I know i do very much🥺

This hits me a little too close to home.. I've suffered from depression and anxiety for 7 years now and I'm not sure if I find this comforting or not. Really touches me on a personal level.
