Gang Of Four - Tattoo Lyrics

(Can't make out what he is saying)
Like you
Like you

You don't know who I am
You don't know where I come from
From the soul of this land
I am lost and you're soon gone

I don't want you to change
I love you just as you are
Don't go biting your nails
Those little fingers work too hard

Looks like it's a day for night
Shadows in the daylight
I was born to waste some time
And you're next in line

When you discover my name
When you discover my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart
Tattoo it on your heart

Don't be shy like you are
You don't want me to stay
I'm drinking Lite at the bar
A quiet guy in every way
Looks like it's a day for night
Shadows in the tail lights
I was born to waste some time
And you're next in line

When you discover my name
When you discover my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart
Tattoo it on your heart

As the pictures fly
Rushing by
Will the teardrops dry
On their eyes?

When you discover my name
When you discover my name

When you discover my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart
When you discover my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart
When you find out my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart
When you find out my name
I'll tattoo it on your heart

I'm no delinquent
I'm an artist
I'm a collector
Life into art
You are my next work

I saw this for the first time when I was 13. Thank you for everything.

    I'm no delinquent
    I'm an artist
    I'm a collector
    Life into art
    You are my next work.

My parents saw them at Emerald City many times (I of course could not, as I wasn't born till much later) but fucking a is this band fantastic. I was blessed that my parents had such killer taste in music (lots of punk, new wave/darkwave, and all the good stuff) I love this band to this day, and I can't believe how underrated they are, it's saddening.

My friends and I saw these guys at a place called Emarald City In Jersey just across the river from Philly. It was sometime in the 80s. After the show we found out we had a
flat tire.As we were starting to change the tire "the gang of four" came over and helped us out. We shared the beer and other substances we had left in the car. They hung out for awhile and after went on theyer merry way. Nice guys. the show was great too.

Drove out to Rt 70 from Belmar to see them @ Emerald City. The drummer wanted a ride to some girls house in Seaside. The rest of GOF decided to go as well. Drinking all night. How did we survive that night in 1978?

Lots of [toy] animals were harmed in the making of this video.

    Adam Curtis, you rule!

  7. Q.... c....

Sorry I'm old! But I still like Fang of Four. Even though no one knows them!

@totalstranga 100% agree...everytime I mention Gang of Four to someone, they never know what I am talking about. So many bands from the last 10 years have sounded like Gang of Four replicas.

  9. o.... ....

Whoa! What Gang of Four song is this?? Is this a song that they made in the 90s because I've nevrheard of it before.

    o.... ....

It's from the album "Shrinkwrapped" (1995)

  10. m.... ....

Apparently this was directed by Adam Curtis....

  11. o.... ....

that reminds me of my youth :) nice nice still after all this time makes me happy to listen

  12. c.... ....

not the greatest representation of GOF. Heck they lost me after "I like a man in uniform"

  13. I.... ....

Exactly... they WERE marxist. Now it's time for the fucking postmodernism and the empty messages with cool images... bad times for the music.

  14. A.... D....

    Yup, pretty wikkid

  15. t.... ....

    TJAMC-The Jesus and Mary Chain

I've been a Gang of Four fan for years. I like this song too, but don't quite know what to make of them as rock'n'roll psycho killers... I always thought they were marxists.

  17. A.... D....

GOF = Gang of Four, who wrote & performed this song. PIL was another band, "Public Image Limited", which was fronted by Johnny Rotten of Sex Pistols fame. Are those the acronyms you meant?

  18. L.... ....

luv their mix of atonal noise and catchy rythm x)

  19. m.... ....

At what time? This is from about 1995... You sound like you've swallowed a pretentious history of punk book matey.

  20. t.... ....

criminally underrated band. I hear people always saying how TJAMC or P.I.L. are, but these guys never get mentioned. ever.
