Been playing bass in bands for over 40 years, but i also play slide guitar. I finally talked a guitar into switching for a song and I chose this one. Do you know how hard it is to get a guitar player to play (basically) just one note on a bass for 3 or 4 minutes? FUCK!!! Its one note. How do you f it up?

When Rory came to my town years ago, the people of the town closed off all the roads leading out of town, they want Rory and the boys in his band to play every day and every night for evermore, it took several days of talks before Rory and boys were given their freedom to go and travel all around the world playing his music. The people in my town realised that they could not capture the special one and keep him all to themselves, Rory was born to play his music like the free spirit he was

Rory later developed a phobia of flying. To overcome this he was given a prescription for a powerful sedative. The medicine along with alcohol use led to severe liver damage. He continued to tour, but became noticeably ill. After his last performance on January 10, 1995 in the Netherlands, the tour was cancelled. He was taken to King’s College Hospital in London in March. It was determined he needed a liver transplant. After the transplant he contracted a staphylococcal infection and died on June 14th. Age 47

I read an interview with Rory who stated that he was in the same pub as Hendrix once and was too embarrassed to talk to him, so I doubt that they ever played together...

Rory auditioned for the Stones, as the story goes after Mick Taylor's loss. The Stone's conclusion was that he played and sang too well. What would Mick and Keith do?

He didn’t fucking ‘audition’ for the stones, it was suggested, they thought better of it

Bill Wyman said in an interview that it wouldn't have worked out cause there were too many big egos in the stones at the time and as we all know Rory wasn't an egotist.

Glad I got to see him. It was in the mid-80's, his trio in a club in Philly. Man, Rory could play all night!. I headed out after 2 and a half hours, and he was still rockin!
