Gabriel, Peter - The Rhythm Of The Heat Lyrics
Looking out the window
I see the red dust clear
High upon the red rock
Stands the shadow with the spear
Strong beneath my feet
it feeds on the blood
it feeds on the heat
The rhythm is below me
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm is around me
The rhythm has control
The rhythm is inside me
The rhythm has my soul
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
Drawn across the plainland
To the place that is higher
Drawn into the circle
That dances round the fire
We spit into our hands
And breathe across the palms
Raising them up high
Help open to the sun
Self-conscious, uncertain
I'm showered with the dust
The spirit enters into me
And I submit to trust
Smash the radio
No outside voices here
Smash the watch
Cannot tear the day to shreds
Smash the camera
Cannot steal away the spirits
The rhythm is around me
The rhythm has control
The rhythm is inside me
The rhythm has my soul

Gabriel, Peter The Rhythm Of The Heat Comments
Rinchiusa nelle croci
Del mare Calipso attende
La sua resurrezione all'inferno
Vestita dai cuori che ha
Distrutto nel suo abisso
Profondo, la luna la bacia
E la notte l'abbraccia
Ecco la regina della morte
Ecco la signore della morte
Un respiro profondo come
L'oceano, un bacio nero
Come la disperazione
Intrappolato nei suoi
Occhi il fuoco non smette
Mai di bruciare e chiedere
Perdono
From 3:45 on it goes into another stratosphere...
HAUNTING! Especially the drum solo at the end
CALIPSO
Calipso
Castelli
A picco sul
Mare
Calipso
L'odore
Massacrante
Di vita
Calipso
Il mio silenzio
A volte
Mi lascia
Senza felicità
Calipso
Si muore
A volte
Quando
Il mare
Si chiude
Calipso
L'anello
Del male
Calipso
Il cerchio
Della vita
Calipso
Per sempre
Da sola
Nell'eterno
Calipso
In attesa
Dell'uomo
Che resta
Calipso
Più non
Si ritorna
Calipso
Silenzio
Lasciami
Andare
Calipso
Su questo
Tempo - mare
Che vaga
Senza memoria.
Someone say Drums?
I saw him live on this tour..at UIC Pavilion..OMG still one of the best shows I've seen..and I saw A LOT..👍
One of those songs that brings emotions, whatever we call them......I think he gave Roger Waters some wings to let his voice out, maybe I'm wrong.....
There was a color guard that performed to this song, truly awesome

once I was high, I was in Amsterdam waiting with my friends in a bus to a squatted village. in my head I was listening to this song without any device. my mind was playing it from memory and I was imagining a video for it or should I say the images were coming to my mind. I never made that video. therefore I am guilty
The theme song for natural selection.
I love it
Justice is coming to Tombstone.

the spirit enters into me and I submit to trust.man he really belts it out when he says the rhythm has my soul....And the offbeats on the drums, are the bomb! nobody ever made music like Gabriel, he's a genius, he's not afraid to experiment with different sounds, that with his showmanship is what makes Peter Gabriel,Peter Gabriel!
MASTERPIECE
This song always reminds me of the Original V miniseries theme song from the 80s. 1:55 The drumming particularly.
Miami Vice 'Evan' ep. 🙌
The Islanders Rare WWF Theme song brought me here
4:02 Oh gud lawd
@BROTHER C.W. ENCINO '87 yup
This album is audio narcotic. Every time I start listening I can’t get enough! The only Peter Gabriel album I listen to.

I'm here because of the Game Grumps! Thanks Dan!
honestly I'm glad Dan turns people on to so much good music haha
I just discovered this song from a documentary where Peter Gabriel explains how he uses the FairlightCMI (I think i can heard it in the song). This completely genius, the African percs blend perfectly with the guitar and the voice. I am not familiar with everything that belongs to Rock music but I love this artist, definitely !!
This was an absolutely incredible concert. The stage set up with the four towers at the corners of the stage!!! Oakland Coliseum. Amazingness!!!!
This album has my soul!
Miami Vice brought me here..................
As this goes on...I become...something else.
And I submit to trust
Miami Vice music
Very great song !
Awsome song Old school dark
Peter Gabriel c'est le gènie musical avec une toute grande modestie. Ce type à l'inspiration des anges. Merçi à toi Peter.

I love this album. Very thematic, but brillant. One of his best. Wish he would make a album of completely new material. Sadly, I won't hold my breath to it.
rain73ful He is already 68 and let's just enjoy the music he's released in the past 😊
Such a amazing album.God Bless Peter Gabriel.

Here is what PGabriel says about it:
http://realworldgalleries.com/security/
Awesomeness?
To me it depicts an empty 1970s funhouse car on track with goblin face. No security, always now..oh it's raining too.
sambsonwayfinder you'll find (if you don't already know that is.lol) that Peter will correspond with "us" on his Facebook and other pages when he has the Inkling to do so, which is regular. Peace from Ayrshire Scotland
I instantly liked this tune when i heard it in Natural Born Killers back in 1994...i was searching for it for years...i finally got this motherfucker!!!!
Some dummies were disputing that this is the actual song being played when it clearly is
For real?!...of course it is...

I live in New Mexico. Every word of this is truth. Right now, looking at rocks and the land, 90 degrees out in harsh sun:
"The land here is strong
Strong beneath my feet
It feeds on the blood
It feeds on the heat'
There is blood in this land. And a a terrible strength. I fell in love with this song long before New Mexico but now I know... a lot more.
Thank you.
A friend and I were doing a High Fidelity list .Top 5 Side one Track ones. This song was on my list.
The most important song of Peter Gabriel..........for me
i forgot how amazing this is
Un excellent CD du grand Gabriel. Un de mes préférés!
Was the end of this song ever used in a movie trailer?
Yes! So nice to share positivity with you.
Much Love and Peace, my friend.
The percussion solo (towards the end) was featured in an episode of Miami Vice - the scene was a drugs bust.
It was in the Tombstone trailer from 1993. God knows why I remember that, I was just really surprised at the time.
It was used in Natural Born Killers
Also used in a TV spot for Pearl Harbor.
Love this song. Love the whole album.
Miami Vice...episode was called 'Evan.' Pure classic.
yea i just commented on that...classic in every way bro..plus biko to end the same episode
very skill in rithms al over the world ..the time THE science tecnology and ....modo of age
love this, thanks!
I remember when this album came out in 82 I believe, and I was so hooked and obsessed with it. It was like nothing was even close to being compared with him. Absolutely amazed with this album.
I was born in 82, and have loved Gabriel's music about as long as I can remember...
@Vernon Hardapple wow,I graduated high school in 80, I seen him 4 times 2 at the Greek,1 at universal ampa.theatre, and at the forum, the best, don't want to rub it in ,but he's older and can't move like the old days,he would drop backwards in the crowd at every concert I been to, now that's fkn nuts to do that! But everyone was cool and didn't molest the hell out of him.
I'd listen to this album over and over. I stuck a tape of it in a mate's stereo system, and the whole houseful went quiet for the entire album. I think it was several minutes before somebody spoke, it just left us all exhausted. But in a good way, like we'd just done or witnessed something majestic and awe-inspiring. And no, we weren't smoking anything we shouldn't have! lol
Right.Use of CMI was EEEspecially great!
yep. i was doing a film and it inspired the voice i used for my character...
This... May be my favorite Peter Gabriel song.
And I have about 20 favorite Peter Gabriel songs.
But this one... This one goes right to the throat, from the very first second. There's no build-up; it is a freight-train in the face.
Sledgehammer, Here comes the flood, Down the Dolce Vita, Biko, Family Snapshot, etc. etc. They are ALL fantastic songs. But this one comes from *that* place. That place we all have, deep down Inside. The tribal. The simple. The primitive. For a couple of minutes, I am not working in an office, or driving a car on my way to the gym.
For a few minutes I am a savage. Descendant of a thousand generations of savages. And tonight...
Tonight we hunt.
High on the red rock, I am the shadow with a spear.
The rythym has my soul, indeed.
Couldnt have put it better!!!
only 20? lol
!!!!! :-)
Good and classic storm of music uuuuu
Only missing "Breath of Life" on your playlist. One of the best albums of ALL TIME.
You like it that much you don't it's called 'Kiss of Life''
The last great Gabriel. After Security he became a parody of himself and now he's one of those "elder-statesman oldies acts." So many rock artists seem to jump the shark around the time they turn 32 and he was no exception.
"Up" is a fantastic album! I'd wish he'd release another album.
Sorry I can't agree with that... plenty of heart soul and indifference to pop in all of his work since...
I kinda of agree with u, but then he released Up at the age of 52...
This album was so ahead of its' time.
Bollocks
exellent album de peter
"The Rhythm of the Heat" is based on Carl Jung’s experience while observing a group of African drummers. " - Wikipedia
The twin flame is found within the rhythm when one reaches this profound level. She is the creative muse to a man and God to a woman. He knows it, too. "I been feelin ya in the rhythm, what we are doing" etc
And opens with a didgeridoo. Real authentic.
Miami vice
Who cares?
Yes indeed. Poor Evan
One of the greatest albums ever made...sheer genius.
All I can think is.....
"go on Mal, get mad!"
I use this song to test speakers and amps.
I use this song to test psychic connections and kinetic weapons.
I use this song to astral project and sprint through infernos unscathed.
I used this song to fly.
I use this song to test the viscosity of my motor oil....
One of the great songs of all time. A treasure, that is worth repeated listens and singing along full voice, note for note. :)
Incredible percussion.
Phil Collins is on drums
@Stephen Kirchin Hey Steve. Phil Collins is incredible but he did not play on this album. It is Jerry Marotta.
Gracias!

For Me, This Song and Intruder, Are The Most Powerful Songs of Gabriel.
Picking up the fairlight thread, for anyone who's interested, get the Vogel CMI app on the apple App Store and check out "Swannee" on CMI IIx Disk #21 Wind. Play in the lowest octave, it's the raw CMI sample PG used on this! It's worth the few bucks! There's a load of real recognisable sounds and a few DX7 samples in there too!
Thank you very much !!
I fund this album as teenager. Prior to this, I was the typical mass produced music lover, Never realising how powerful a song Could really be.
sadly the cassette got chewed. forgot about this album until one day....YouTube reconnected me to my past
thanks for uploading.
I don't know why, but this song always makes me think of "The Hunger Games". I guess its the relentless bass push that builds until the climax percussion at the end. Also the great atmospheric use of the CMI Fairlight. If there was a musical interpretation of Carl Jung's African travels, Gabriel nailed it. This is one of the best Gabriel songs with the the best Album. Yes it was not a pop juggernaut as SO was, but Gabriel 4 was so music eclectic and original you just can't go wrong.
The rhythm has my soul. Awesome!
Something about this song, gets me everytime.
Been looking for a good quality upload of this one. Thanks for posting!
