Gabriel, Peter - On The Air Lyrics
Built in the belly of junk by the river, my cabin stands;
Made from the trash I dug off the heap with my own bare hands.
Every night I'm back at the shack, I'm sure no one is there,
I'm putting the aerial up, so I can go out on the air...
On the air
On the air
Every morning I'm out at dawn with the dwarfs and tramps
For a silent communion lit from above by the sodium lamps.
Everyone I meet on the street acts as if I wasn't there,
But they're all going to know who I am, 'cos I can go out on the air.
[Chorus] (On the air...)
Turning out Tarzan for my Jungle Jane.
Anyone at all, from Captain Zero
And his band of superheroes standing by on call.
Oh it's not easy,
No it's not easy making real friends...
Don't give me your steak-reared milkboys, milkboys,
Half alive on empty white noise, white noise,
I've got power, I'm proud to be loud, my signal goes out clear,
I want everybody to know that Mozo is here!
[Chorus]

No DIY or Perspective? Love Perspective. B side to DIY. (long version)
I had a picture of Mozo. Very strange. But that's Peter for you
.
Fer chrissake, is there a single less-than-mangif track on this whole record???
Every morning I'm out the door with the drunks and tramps.
so raw. i love it.
' bout time , back in my time, this song called ., what the World was about,...things don't change
If someone told me this was a cover of an obscure Who song I would absolutely believe it. This has Townshend written all over it. lol
Génial sans autre commentaire...........
Great fucking song. Fantastic
I'm covering this song, wish me luck
this is music, this is rock, this is art
With no good songs. Gabriel on his own sucks
his best album! punk and new wave together
I love PG 2. Robert Fripp at the helm. This is the trilogy of albums that I listen to most. !,2 and 3. This opener is New York punk which Gabriel had been experimenting with on The Lamb lies down on Broadway with Back in NYC. Robert Fripp, Tony Levin and all credit to Larry Fast for his arpeggio synth patch. Gabriel was dropped from Atlantic after this album. Fools. I mentioned Punk which Gabriel toyed with. It was actually Springsteen that was his epiphany. In 1975 he saw Springsteen in London and a career of making babies and growing cabbages was brought to a halt.
I could not agree with you, more! And I have to laugh so much, as well!!!!!!
Ha, ha! I get the reference of "making babies and growing cabbages". Only a true Genesis/Gabriel fan would get that. ;-)
song for song, such a wide variety of shifting and contrasting moods. From achingly beautiful like 'Here comes the Flood' to the avant 'Exposure'. Brilliant production from Fripp. Brilliant album from Gabriel.
Here Comes The Flood is on his first album. not this.
@Stan Tastic ...and frankly I prefer the version on the Fripp album. At times, anyway.
excellent
Damn, he could hit the high notes as a vocal actor then. I can visual the scene by his voice.
This album needs a good re-mastering for clarity on the digital age
Tim Burr my vinyl still sounds pretty fresh :)
Tim Burr - listening to the 180g 33 1/3 rpm reissue, and it sounds great!
Nooooo... they'll ruin it!
IMMENSO
He sounds like Bon Scott on this one, hah
AdventuresOfTheKanFam was about to shout “Bollocks!” Actually you aren’t far off !
Hate to say...but yer right.
very 1st song I ever heard as fresh as ever!from Peter Gabriel, oh to be 17 again!
Great song.
lol, I hear cymbals if you know what I mean.
This album has them. The third album does not.
Indeed. No cymbals on #3 or #4.
GENIO GENIO!!!!!!!!
Rodri Monsalve
Dexy's Midnight Runners? LOL.😂
I want everybody to know that Mozo is here!
I can't stand the vocal part, to me the track begins with the last instrumental minute
Fuck off

Tony's not from NY either. He's from Boston
And Fripp's a Brit.
