Future Islands - Fall From Grace Lyrics
You were mine when I was young
Why does it take so long?
When you were here, it was warm
Now it's just a bitter storm
Watching days turn into nights
Now I'm older and I'm grave
Tell me, what's been left to save?
Pardon my reflection
In the mirror, at your feet
Before you go, please tell me
"Was it all inside of me?"
"I'll leave here in the morning…"
You were mine when I was young
Why does it take so long?
Now I'm older and I'm grave
Tell me, "What's been left to save?"
I held you in the morning
In the doorway of the sea
"Pardon my reflection
It was all inside of me"
We slowly fall from grace
We slowly fade away...

Future Islands Fall From Grace Comments
The delicate touch of screaming is so perfect. One of my favorite songs by Future Islands. Incredible.
Anybody having some creative imagination on what that song is about? :)
Came to this comment section looking for an answer too :(
I think it is about a person who failed at a previous relationship with someone and he's realized that the person he loved has moved on and he waited too long to mend it.
You were mine when I was young
Why does it take so long?
When you were here, it was warm
Now it's just a bitter storm
Now I'm older, turning white
Watching days turn into nights
Now I'm older and I'm grave
Tell me, what's been left to save?
Pardon my reflection
In the mirror, at your feet
Before you go, please tell me
"Was it all inside of me?"
"I'll leave here in the morning"

This is impressive. I cannot stress enough well this song fits this imagery.

This dude sounds real old for someone who was born in 84. Was also surprised to learn he's a rapper 0_o. Good song though
Love this video it's one of my favourites on YouTube- edited a video to this song myself and just posted hope you can take a look

Perfect. Sam Herring looks like Richard Burton too. That's wild.
Dark.depressing and brilliant
Whoever edited this film to this song is a fucking genius.
Mark Nicholls damn straight!
That chicken wing tho............xD
I can count on one hand and another finger how many songs that I have played over and over and over and over and over in the last 43 years and this is one of those.
It started with Mouldy Old Dough. Go figure!
The film is "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" from 1966 starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Minor technicality, this masterpiece starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton ;)
On another little fact of "Fame," that brought me back here....of all people, it was Liz that brought about the meeting of Bowie and Lennon. That's one freaky show. So sad, everything that has a beginning also has an end.
a living masterpiece. however, in saying that, this song is uncannily fitting
This song is fucking delicious.......
munch munch munch!!
A life without illusion intensifies its meaninglessness. Be very afraid, Martha...
